Bednar allowed two hits and struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Saturday against the Guardians.

Bednar was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday and immediately made an appearance. He entered the game with the Pirates down 3-0 in the final inning and struck out the final two batters he faced after allowing consecutive singles. Dennis Santana has performed adequately as Pittsburgh's closer, but Bednar should work his way back into high-leverage work if he pitches well.

Tatis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a stolen base and an additional run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss at Houston.

The 26-year-old started the scoring with a solo shot during the third inning, and he followed up by singling, stealing second and scoring on a Manny Machado double in the fifth. Tatis is in the midst of an eight-game hit streak and has gone 11-for-33 with five long balls, two steals, eight RBI and nine runs during that stretch.

King didn't factor in the decision Saturday against the Astros after giving up two runs on four hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out seven.

The right-hander cruised through five frames but ran into trouble in the sixth, when Christian Walker launched a two-out, two-run homer to tie the game 2-2 and end King's evening. The 29-year-old was unable to pick up his fourth consecutive victory, but it was still another productive performance on the road. After allowing three runs over 2.2 frames in his season debut, King has a 1.07 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB in his past four starts.

Walker gave up a hit in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Angels. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

The right-hander allowed the tying run to reach on a one-out single by Jorge Soler and fell behind the next batter 3-0, but Walker escaped with his seventh consecutive scoreless appearance. He's converted all five of his save chances this year, and the only run Walker has allowed all season came Opening Day in Cincinnati.

Roupp (2-1) struck out nine and earned the win Saturday against the Angels after giving up two runs on five hits and a walk across seven innings.

The right-hander surrendered a pair of solo homers to Mike Trout but otherwise shut down the Halos to pick up his second consecutive victory. Roupp has showed off his strikeout potential early in 2025 with at least eight punchouts in three of his four starts, though his 4.09 ERA and 1.36 WHIP is otherwise middling. A home matchup with the Brewers likely awaits for his next turn through the rotation.

Iglesias recorded one strikeout and didn't allow a baserunner in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Twins.

Iglesias was handed a one-run advantage and needed just 11 pitches to retire the side in order. The 35-year-old closer has already given up three home runs through eight outings this year -- nearly matching 2024's regular-season total of four homers allowed -- but he's otherwise pitched well and has a 3.38 ERA and 8:1 K:BB while going 4-for-5 in save chances.

Sale didn't factor in the decision Saturday against the Twins. He gave up two runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and three walks over 4.1 innings.

The veteran left-hander walked three batters for the second straight start and failed to complete five frames for a third consecutive outing. It's a stark contrast to his 2024 NL Cy Young campaign, during which Sale made just two starts of fewer than five innings and issued three walks on just four occasions. His 32:7 K:BB through five starts in 2025 looks great, but Sale's 6.17 ERA and 1.63 WHIP leave a lot to be desired.

Verdugo went 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 4-3 win against the Twins.

The veteran outfielder went hitless in his 2025 debut Friday, but he was much more productive in his second game for Atlanta. Verdugo has stepped into the leadoff spot of a struggling offense and should bat there against most right-handed starting pitchers, at least until Ronald Acuna (knee) is ready to make his season debut, which could happen early in May.

Patrick (1-1) was charged with the loss Saturday against the A's after he allowed two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and no walks across six innings.

The right-hander generated 16 swinging strikes on 94 pitches but was unable to avoid the loss column since Milwaukee's offense tallied just one run. It was the first quality start of the season for Patrick, who now has a 1.27 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB in four starts since entering the rotation. Tobias Myers (oblique) is expected back from the injured list this week, but Patrick has likely pitched well enough to retain his rotation spot, especially since the Brewers still have a few other starters on the shelf.

Spiers pitched out of the bullpen in Saturday's loss to the Orioles, allowing four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three over four innings.

Spiers was originally promoted Friday for the purpose of starting Sunday in place of Nick Lodolo (paternity), but manager Terry Francona changed those plans on the fly, calling upon Spiers for mop-up duty after Hunter Greene allowed five runs over three innings Saturday. "(Spiers) wore it like a trooper," Francona told Charlie Goldsmith of the Dayton Daily News after Saturday's game while declining to name a starter for the series finale. Goldsmith suggests the Reds will need to make at least one roster move to bolster the pitching staff prior to Sunday's game, and Spiers is almost certainly headed back to Triple-A Louisville for the time being.
