Koss went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Koss lined a two-out RBI single into left field to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth frame. The 27-year-old infielder owns a .333 batting average in his last five appearances after hitting .143 in his first seven. Koss has recorded a hit in each of the Giants' previous two games, receiving the starting nod at second base while Tyler Fitzgerald recovers from a chest contusion. Koss is now slashing .217/.280/.217 with four runs scored and a 1:8 BB:K across 26 plate appearances.

Flores went 0-for-3 with an RBI and a walk in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rangers.

Flores recorded his league-leading 28th RBI on a bases-loaded walk in the first frame. The veteran infielder has cooled off of late, batting .167 with just one RBI over his last four outings. Flores is slashing .248/.303/.455 with 13 runs scored, seven home runs and a 7:20 BB:K across 109 plate appearances so far this season.

Birdsong threw three scoreless innings during Sunday's 3-2 win over the Rangers, allowing three hits while striking out five.

Birdsong entered the game in the sixth frame, surrendering a triple to the first batter he faced. However, he settled in and retired the next three hitters. The 23-year-old also allowed a double and a single over his three innings but racked up a season-high five strikeouts. Birdsong owns a 1.13 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and an 18:6 K:BB across 16.0 innings in seven games. The right-hander has been impressive to start the 2025 campaign and will likely continue to serve in a long-relief role.

Matz will be the Cardinals' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game in Cincinnati, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Matz will be pitching on three days' rest after he recorded two outs in a relief appearance Saturday versus the Brewers. The southpaw will be making his second start of the season after the Cardinals recently moved to a modified six-man rotation. He threw 71 pitches over five innings in his other start back on April 16 and should be able to handle a similar pitch count Wednesday.

Gonsolin (back) is expected to be the Dodgers' starting pitcher against the Marlins on Wednesday, independent journalist Mike DiGiovanna reports.

Gonsolin began the season on the injured list due to a back injury, but he's been prepping for a return in the minor leagues since early April. In four appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City, he's posted a 3.21 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB over 14 innings, with the veteran righty's longest outing being a five-inning, 79-pitch start last Wednesday. Per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, Los Angeles will likely go with a bullpen game Tuesday, giving Gonsolin a full week between his last minor-league outing and his 2025 MLB debut, which will be his first big-league appearance since 2023. If all goes well for Gonsolin, he should be able to keep a spot in the Dodgers' rotation given that Blake Snell is on the injured list with a shoulder issue, Tyler Glasnow could land on the IL due to a shoulder injury of his own and Shohei Ohtani's target date for a return to the mound remains uncertain.

Vasquez (1-3) took the loss Sunday against the Rays, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out just one in 4.2 innings.

Vasquez retired the Rays in order through the first two innings, but Taylor Walls opened up the scoring in the third with a solo blast, the first home run Vasquez has allowed all season. Two more runs were scored against him before he exited, largely in part due to the excellent baserunning by Chandler Simpson. Vasquez has managed to get by with a 4.28 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 10:19 K:BB in 27.1 innings thus far and has a chance to be a stream start against the Pirates in his upcoming outing this weekend.

The Cardinals are expected to option Saggese to Triple-A Memphis prior to Monday's game against the Reds, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

In a corresponding move, St. Louis intends to call up Jose Barrero, who will provide the bench with more versatility due to his ability to play center field in addition to multiple infield spots. Saggese had gone 0-for-6 with a pair of walks while manning second base in both of the Cardinals' last two games, but playing time had been elusive before that for the 23-year-old, who hadn't started in any of the preceding four contests. He'll get a chance to play on an everyday basis in Memphis and should rank near the top of the list for a call-up the next time the Cardinals require an extra infielder.

Perez (elbow) completed his first minor-league rehab start Saturday with Single-A Jupiter, striking out two and allowing one hit over a scoreless inning.

Making his first appearance in a competitive setting since undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2024, Perez pumped in 11 of his 19 pitches for strikes and sported a fastball that topped out at 98.4 miles per hour. While the velocity readings are encouraging for Perez, he'll still need to prove that he can effectively command his offerings while upping his pitch count over the course of a few more rehab starts before the Marlins bring him back from the 60-day injured list. The Marlins will likely keep Perez in the minors until his 30-day rehab window ends May 25, and if all checks out well during his assignment, he could be activated May 26 when first eligible.

The Cardinals are expected to promote Barrero from Triple-A Memphis ahead of Monday's game against the Reds, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

St. Louis hasn't announced a corresponding move, but Alec Burleson and Thomas Saggese have both seen infrequent opportunities of late, making either player a candidate to head to Memphis to receive more consistent playing time. The 27-year-old Barrero attended spring training as a non-roster invitee and fell short in his bid for a spot on the Opening Day squad as a utility player, but he's been a standout performer for Memphis while making starts at shortstop, third base and in center field. He's gotten on base in 18 of his last 19 Triple-A games, slashing .300/.402/.529 with three home runs and five steals during that stretch.

Weathers (forearm) struck out six over three perfect innings in his first rehab start with Single-A Jupiter on Sunday.

Weathers didn't face the stiffest competition, but he couldn't have delivered better results in his first outing since going down with a left flexor strain late in spring training. The southpaw will likely need at least one more rehab start before returning from the 15-day injured list and rejoining the Miami rotation.
