  • Steward Berroa CF | PHI

Dodgers' Steward Berroa: Dealt to Dodgers

The Dodgers acquired Berroa from the Blue Jays on Monday in exchange for cash considerations.

Berroa had been booted off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster and will now head to a new organization. The 25-year-old will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he will give the Dodgers outfield depth.

  • Braves' Ronald Acuna: Cleared for rehab assignment

Acuna (knee) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League on Tuesday, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Though Acuna will be playing in a game for the first time since tearing the ACL in his left knee May 26 of last year, he won't be eased in as a designated hitter, as Burns relays that the 27-year-old has been cleared to play the outfield. Atlanta will monitor Acuna closely over his first few games in Florida before determining whether he's ready to shift his assignment to a higher-level affiliate. A timeline hasn't been offered up for when Acuna might be ready to make his 2025 debut with Atlanta, but the club is seemingly leaving the door open for him to return before the end of May.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Tossing sim game Wednesday

Strider (hamstring) is scheduled to throw 70-to-75 pitches in a simulated game Wednesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

The upcoming sim game takes Strider out of the running from returning from the 15-day injured list this week, but if all goes well Wednesday, he could bypass a minor-league rehab start and rejoin the Atlanta rotation for the start of their series in Washington that begins May 20. After making a speedy recovery from the internal brace procedure he underwent on his right elbow last spring, Strider tossed five innings in his 2025 debut for Atlanta on April 16, then went back on the IL five days later after straining his right hamstring while playing catch.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Won't be activated this week

Woodruff (shoulder) won't be reinstated from the 15-day injured list this week as initially hoped after experiencing right ankle tendinitis during his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

After he hadn't pitched in the big leagues since September 2023 while recovering from right shoulder surgery, Woodruff looked on track to rejoin the Milwaukee rotation this week after completing his sixth minor-league rehab start over the weekend. However, with Woodruff now battling tendinitis in his ankle, he'll receive treatment over the next week and will then need to make another rehab start before Milwaukee determines whether he's fit to return from the IL or needs more time in the minors.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Brewers' Jose Quintana: Start pushed back due to arm issue

The Brewers have pushed Quintana's next scheduled start back to Friday against the Twins after he experienced some upper left arm soreness following his most recent outing last Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Quintana had been slated to take the ball Wednesday against the Guardians, but the Brewers will either call up a pitcher from Triple-A to start that game or treat the series finale in Cleveland as a bullpen day. The two extra days of rest are expected to be enough for the veteran southpaw to fully move past the arm issue, so he shouldn't face any workload restrictions when he returns to the mound Friday.

  • Cubs' Gavin Hollowell: Moved to Triple-A

The Cubs optioned Hollowell to Triple-A Iowa on Monday.

He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen to left-hander Caleb Thielbar (personal), who was reinstated from the paternity list. Hollowell has fared well over his five appearances for the Cubs between his two separate stints in the big leagues this season, giving up just one earned run and striking out five batters across 6.1 innings.

  • Caleb Thielbar RP | CHC

Cubs' Caleb Thielbar: Returns from paternity leave

The Cubs reinstated Thielbar (personal) from the paternity list Monday, Jared Wyllys of AllCHGO.com reports.

Thielbar was away from the Cubs for the maximum three games while he welcomed a new addition to his family. Chicago optioned righty Gavin Hollowell to Triple-A Iowa to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen for Thielbar.

  • Derek Hill CF | PHI

Marlins' Derek Hill: Makes return from IL

The Marlins reinstated Hill (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Monday. He'll start in center field and bat seventh in Miami's series opener versus the Cubs.

Hill had been on the shelf since April 18 after initially spraining his left wrist while making a diving catch in an April 8 game, but he's been cleared to rejoin the big club after completing a four-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville last week. Though he initially looked as though he might be ticketed for a fourth-outfielder role upon his activation, Hill could step in as the Marlins' primary starter in center field after Dane Myers (oblique) was placed on the IL in a corresponding move. Kyle Stowers and Jesus Sanchez are also candidates to pick up starts in center when Hill is out of the lineup.

  • Dane Myers CF | CIN

Marlins' Dane Myers: Shelved with oblique strain

The Marlins placed Myers on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a right oblique strain.

The severity of Myers' oblique strain won't be known until the results of his MRI are available, but he'll be out for at least the next week and a half after suffering the injury at some point over the weekend. Before getting hurt, Myers had been thriving as the Marlins' primary center fielder with a .340/.386/.528 slash line to go with three home runs and six stolen bases since mid-April. The Marlins reinstated Derek Hill (wrist) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move, and he could end up seeing the bulk of the reps in center while Myers is on the shelf.

  • Tyrone Taylor CF | CHC

Mets' Tyrone Taylor: Taking seat Monday

Taylor is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Pirates.

Jeff McNeil will enter the starting nine in place of Taylor, who had occupied center field in each of the Mets' last seven games. Though McNeil boasts a better track record as a hitter at the big-league level, Taylor is regarded as the superior defender, and that may be enough for him to continue seeing the bulk of the starts in center field moving forward.
