Doval recorded his sixth save during Friday's 2-0 win over the Marlins after pitching 1.1 innings, allowing no runs or hits. He walked one and struck out two.

In his first chance back in the closer role for the Giants, Doval was asked to get the team out of a jam in the eighth and then record all three outs in the ninth, and he delivered to pick up his sixth save. There haven't been many more dominant pitchers than the 27-year-old lately, as he turned in his 20th straight scoreless outing to bring his season-long ERA down to 1.07. He's allowed just four hits over that stretch.

Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 with a double during Friday's 2-0 victory over the Marlins.

Fitzgerald delivered fantastic production out of the ninth spot in the lineup yet again for the Giants, picking up his third three-hit game of the season and snapping a three-game drought without a hit in the process. He also didn't strike out for the first time in seven contests. Slashing .277/.333/.403 on the season, Fitzgerald does not have numbers typical of a batter hitting in the nine slot but that's where he has been used lately. The 27-year-old will hope to discover his power stroke, as he's without an extra-base hit in his last six games.

Chapman was 2-for-2 with a solo home run, a walk and a hit-by-pitch during Friday's 2-0 win over the Marlins.

Chapman had his first perfect day at the plate this season the day after turning in a three-hit performance. His 2-for-2 game on Friday included his 10th home run, pulling him into a three-way tie atop the Giants' leaderboard. The 32-year-old has also struck out just once in his last five games while going a combined 6-for-13 at the plate, a good sign for a hitter with a strikeout rate of 24.6 percent.

Harrison (1-1) got the win after throwing five innings of shutout ball in Friday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. He allowed one hit, walked three and struck out five.

In his second start of the season since transitioning from the bullpen, Harrison had a longer leash and took advantage of it, working five shutout innings on just 80 pitches. In his two starts (nine innings), he's allowed just two runs with nine strikeouts. With Justin Verlander (pectoral) on the way back from the injured list, the 23-year-old Harrison might not get the chance to start again in the immediate future, but he's made a strong case to be the team's choice to make spot starts should injuries strike the Giants' rotation again.

Olson went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's 5-1 loss to Boston.

Olson tallied his 15th RBI of the month and his 30th of the season, and he remains a strong source of power despite a subpar batting average. Across 103 at-bats in May, the All-Star first baseman is hitting just .243 but has eight home runs, five doubles and 15 RBI. Olson entered Friday with an elite 18.7 percent barrel rate and 56.0 percent hard-hit rate in 2025, and he's begun to return to form in the slugging department following a slow start to the year in that area.

Quantrill (3-5) picked up the loss Friday after throwing five innings, surrendering two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven in the 2-0 loss to the Giants.

Quantrill pitched well Friday, but he needed to be nearly perfect to avoid the loss since the Marlins' offense didn't give him any help. The 30-year-old has been unable to find a way to go deep into games consistently this season, recording an out in the sixth inning just once in his 11 starts. Regardless, he's given the Marlins a chance to win games, especially lately. The right-hander has allowed just four runs over his last three starts spanning 13.1 innings (2.70 ERA) while picking up 15 strikeouts.

Liberatore (3-4) took the loss Friday against Texas after allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out five.

It was a rare dud for Liberatore, who matched his season worst in runs allowed and gave up greater than two runs for the first time since April 7. Friday also marked just the third time all season that the southpaw yielded greater than two runs, but he still managed to toss at least five frames for the 10th time in 11 starts this year. Liberatore is still in possession of a 3.08 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and a superb 56:9 K:BB across 64.1 innings prior to his next scheduled outing versus the Royals, who own a weak .614 OPS against left-handed pitching through their first 57 games of the year.

Holmes (3-4) took the loss Friday against Boston after allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in 5.2 innings. He struck out nine.

Holmes was aiming for his fourth consecutive quality start and sixth of the year, but an RBI double by Abraham Toro brought the hurler's night to a close in the sixth inning. Holmes did tie a season high in punchouts, and it marked just the third time in his last eight outings that he gave up more than two runs. The 29-year-old right-hander holds a dependable 3.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 64:27 K:BB over 64.1 innings ahead of a difficult task his next time out versus the Diamondbacks, who have a .799 OPS versus right-handed pitching through their first 56 games of the season.

Henriquez (foot) kicked off a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, independent writer Howard Cole reports.

Henriquez looked a bit rusty Thursday in his first rehab outing, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning. The right-handed reliever remains on the 60-day IL after suffering a left foot injury early this spring. Henriquez got his first taste of major-league action last year, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 5:2 K:BB over 3.1 innings during the regular season before allowing four runs over five frames across three playoff appearances.

Freeland (0-8) took the loss against the Mets on Friday, allowing three runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out four across six innings.

Freeland put the Rockies behind early when he yielded a leadoff home run to Francisco Lindor. Freeland gave up additional runs in the third and fourth, including a Starling Marte solo homer. The 32-year-old southpaw was able to limit the damage to three runs and came away with his fourth quality start of the season, but he couldn't avoid the loss as the Rockies were limited to just two runs. Freeland hasn't recorded a win since September of 2024, and through 12 starts this season he holds a 5.72 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 48:13 K:BB across 61.1 innings. He'll look to get into the win column for the first time in 2025 in his next start, tentatively slated for next week on the road against Miami.
