Vasquez (7-6) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over six scoreless innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Vasquez has allowed just three runs over 17 innings across five games since he returned from an ankle bruise. The right-hander appears to have at least temporarily won a spot in the Padres' rotation -- JP Sears was optioned Tuesday, while Griffin Canning and German Marquez both made relief appearances in this contest. The Padres revitalized their rotation by acquiring Casey Mize and Robbie Ray ahead of the trade deadline, but Vasquez should start until Nick Pivetta (forearm) and Joe Musgrove (elbow) complete their rehab assignments. Vasquez is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Astros if he remains in the rotation.

McCarthy went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Rays.

McCarthy has started August hot, going 7-for-19 with three extra-base hits and five RBI over the first four games of the month. The outfielder is up to a .293 average and .825 OPS on the year while adding 11 home runs, 64 RBI, 52 runs scored, 23 doubles, seven triples and 17 stolen bases over 99 contests. McCarthy's spot at the top of the Rockies' lineup and his decent speed contributions have made him a quality depth outfielder in fantasy.

Castro went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Rays.

This was Castro's career-high 13th homer of the season. The utility man has surged to the mark with four long balls over his last seven games, though this was his first one in that span that wasn't a solo shot. Castro is now hitting .264 with a .760 OPS, 48 RBI, 52 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 15 doubles and one triple over 97 contests in his first year with the Rockies.

Moniak went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Rays.

Moniak signed a two-year contract extension earlier Tuesday, and then showed another example of why he's been worth the investment. The outfielder is on a surge since the All-Star break, going 15-for-54 (.278) with four homers and 14 RBI over his last 14 games. For the season, he's batting .278 with an .892 OPS, 19 homers, 52 RBI, 40 runs scored, 13 doubles, four triples and a stolen base over 76 contests. Moniak remains in a strong-side platoon role, but he's got some stability in a favorable hitting environment, which makes him an acceptable depth option in fantasy.

Riley went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Marlins.

Riley provided Atlanta with some insurance in the seventh inning, launching a two-run homer off John King for his 13th long ball of the season. The third baseman has shown signs of heating up in the second half of the season, batting .290 with four home runs across 17 games. Despite the recent surge, Riley is still slashing just .220/.296/.360 on the season, with each mark on pace to be his lowest since his rookie campaign in 2019.

Romano allowed two runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two over one inning to take a blown save in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-inning loss to the Rays.

Romano blew a two-run lead in the ninth inning but was able to prevent further damage, leading to the extra frames. Over eight outings in July, he gave up just one run across 7.2 innings while converting five saves and adding a hold. He's now at a 6.48 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB through 16.2 innings over 20 games between the Rockies and the Angels, adding nine saves in 12 chances. However, Romano's stability in the closer role likely improved after the Rockies dealt away Antonio Senzatela and Victor Vodnik at the trade deadline, though it's still risky to go chasing saves in the Colorado bullpen.

Hughes allowed five runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 5.1 innings in a no-decision Tuesday versus the Rays.

Hughes gave up all five runs in the third inning, highlighted by a Liam Hicks grand slam. This was Hughes' worst outing yet, though he was able to avoid a fourth consecutive loss with some help from the Rockies' offense. Hughes has pitched to a 4.25 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB through 29.2 innings over six games (five starts) in the majors. The rookie right-hander is projected to make his next start at Arizona.

Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Marlins.

Albies opened the scoring in the second inning, taking Ryan Gusto deep on the first pitch he saw for his 19th home run of the season. The veteran second baseman has now hit safely in six consecutive games. Since the All-Star break, he's batting .243 with five home runs and 12 RBI across 18 games. Through 488 plate appearances this season, Albies owns a .263/.311/.440 slash line.

X-rays on Bogaerts' left foot came back negative following his removal from Tuesday's game against Arizona, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Bogaerts left Tuesday's contest in the seventh inning after fouling a ball off his foot, but he appears to have escaped the incident without suffering any structural damage. He said after the game that he expects to be ready to play Wednesday, but the Padres could still decide to sit him as a precaution. If that ends up being the case, Sung-Mun Song would likely fill in as San Diego's shortstop.

Gonzalez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Tuesday against the Brewers.

Gonzalez led off the third inning with a home run, his third time going yard since joining the Pirates on July 11. He has taken over as Pittsburgh's primary shortstop since the All-Star break, starting nine of the team's last 11 games. While Gonzalez has flashed some power, he's also hitting just .178 in that 11-game span.
