Young is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

The White Sox are deploying lefty Sean Newcomb as their opener, so Young will begin the game on the bench. Eric Wagaman will draw the start at first base.

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Luis Torrens will handle catching duties in the series finale. Alvarez started the last five games, going 1-for-18 with a 2:8 BB:K.

Baty is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Baty will hit the bench after starting the last three games at three different positions. Though he doesn't have a defensive home, Baty should play fairly regularly against right-handed pitching while Juan Soto (calf) remains sidelined.

Canning (4-9) earned the win over Minnesota on Saturday, allowing three hits and issuing one walk while striking out one batter over 3.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen.

Casey Mize started the game for San Diego but left after just 2.2 frames due to an ankle injury. Canning helped spare the Padres bullpen from exhausting its arms by covering 3.1 innings on 46 pitches (27 strikes). The veteran right-hander limited the Twins to just three hits (all singles) in his longest outing since July 18, which was when he made his final start before being moved to a bulk-relief role. Canning has been much more effective out of the bullpen, and over his past seven appearances he's logged a 3-0 record with a 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB across 13.1 innings.

Caissie is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

After four consecutive starts, the left-handed hitter will move to the bench while southpaw Jackson Kent takes the bump for the Nationals. Agustin Ramirez will serve as the Marlins' designated hitter in Caissie's stead.

Mack is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Mack started the past three contests after missing a few days due to a shoulder issue, so he's likely just getting a rest day after going 1-for-11 since rejoining the lineup. Brian Navarreto is working behind the plate and batting ninth in the series finale versus Washington.

Marsee is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

After four consecutive starts, the left-handed-hitting Marsee will move to the bench while southpaw Jackson Kent takes the bump for the Nationals. Esteury Ruiz will cover center field in Marsee's stead Sunday.

Chaparro will start at first base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Since being called up from Triple-A Rochester on May 19, Chaparro has largely served as a short-side platoon player for the Nationals, but he's begun to gain traction in the lineup versus right-handed pitching. He'll crack the starting nine against a righty for the third time in four games, and on the season he sports a 1.127 OPS with three homers in 35 plate appearances in that split.

House is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.

After starting at third base in each of the last three games while going 2-for-8 with three walks, House will take a seat for the series finale while Jorbit Vivas mans the hot corner. House has put together a modest .699 OPS over 24 second-half games with the Nationals, but that may be enough to give him in the edge in playing time over Vivas, who is slashing just .214/.324/.250 over that same timeframe.

Bohm is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to what interim manager Don Mattingly described as hamstring or groin tightness, Cory Nidoh of PhillySportsNetwork.com reports.

Bohm went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI in Saturday's 12-3 win before making a late exit due to what appears to be a minor injury. Though Bohm won't start Sunday, Mattingly downplayed most of the concern about the first baseman's health, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. Kyle Schwarber will draw the start at first base in the series finale, but Bohm could appear at some point off the bench, if needed.
