The Cardinals designated Vilade for assignment Thursday.

Vilade received the call to St. Louis at the end of May but has since gone just 1-for-13 in seven games with the Cardinals. His poor performance will ultimately result in him losing his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Michael Siani was recalled from Memphis to replenish the big club's outfield depth, and Andre Granillo was selected from Triple-A to fill the open 40-man spot.

Black (hand) was reinstated from Triple-A Nashville's 7-day injured list Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI while playing eight innings in left field in a 5-2 loss to Norfolk.

Black was cleared to make his 2025 debut for the Triple-A club after completing his recovery from surgery to repair a fractured right hand, which he sustained late in spring training. Before he was activated, Black played 10 games in a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, slashing .387/.513/.613 with one home run in 39 plate appearances. Black should handle an everyday role with Nashville and will likely see starts in the infield in addition to both corner-outfield spots.

The Cardinals recalled Siani from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Siani began the season on the Opening Day roster but was sent down in late April after playing sparingly. Victor Scott has struggled offensively since early May, but it still seems unlikely that Siani will be much of a threat to Scott's playing time.

The Cardinals selected Granillo's contract from Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Granillo will get his first chance to pitch in the majors after starting the Triple-A season with a 1.82 ERA and 0.86 WHIP alongside an impressive 46:8 K:BB through 29.2 innings. He'll replace Chris Roycroft in St. Louis' bullpen and Ryan Vilade on the 40-man roster.

The Cardinals optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Roycroft has failed to find a groove during his multiple stints in the majors this season, posting a 6.92 ERA and 9:9 K:BB over 13 innings. Andre Granillo is taking his spot on the roster and in the bullpen.

Lazar allowed one run on three hits and no walks in two relief innings Wednesday against the Cubs. He struck out one.

Lazar continues to operate as a multi-inning middle reliever for the Phillies, as he's worked beyond one frame in four of his six outings. The 26-year-old right-hander should remain a bullpen piece while Aaron Nola (ankle) is sidelined, but Lazar has an uninspiring 4.50 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB with zero holds over 10 innings.

Pratt is slashing .239/.331/.351 with four home runs, 13 steals, a 10.1 percent walk rate and a 15.1 percent strikeout rate in 54 games for Double-A Biloxi.

Pratt's 27.5 percent hard-hit rate is actually pretty strong, especially for a young shortstop at Double-A, but Pratt has managed just one home run while hitting .223 over his last 36 games. Pratt is the fifth-youngest qualified hitter at Double-A, as he won't turn 21 until August. Given the strength of his hit tool and the fact he isn't an extreme groundball hitter (40.6 GB% at Double-A), Pratt should access more game power as he adds strength to his 6-foot-3, 206-pound frame.

Chandler gave up one earned run on zero hits and four walks while recording just two outs in Wednesday's start for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Chandler now has three four-walk starts in his past seven, logging a 3.81 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 34:19 K:BB in 26 innings over that stretch. The young fireballer was dominant in his first six starts of the year (1.42 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, 36:7 K:BB in 25.1 IP), but it's possible he's trying too hard to force a promotion from Triple-A. Regardless, it doesn't seem like a promotion is imminent after he walked in a run and failed to complete the first inning Wednesday.

Bird struck out five batters over two perfect innings of relief in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Giants.

Though he has yet to record a save this season, Bird has quietly emerged as an indispensable piece in the Colorado bullpen. He hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his last 10 appearances and has been scored upon just three times in 22 outings dating back to April 15. Over that span, Bird owns a 1.16 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 41:8 K:BB while collecting one win and seven holds in 31 innings. With both Zach Agnos and Seth Halvorsen having faltered in their recent late-inning opportunities, it wouldn't be surprising if Bird was called upon for a save chance in the near future, though the 12-55 Rockies haven't had many leads to protect all season.

Law (forearm) threw a successful simulated game Wednesday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

He's slated for two more simulated games on Saturday and Tuesday. If that goes well, Law will then head out on a rehab assignment. The veteran reliever has been sidelined all season with a right forearm strain but finally appears to have turned the corner in his recovery.
