  • Royals' Starling Marte: Logs three hits in win

Marte went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 14-6 win over St. Louis. With left-hander Matthew Liberatore getting the start for St. Louis, Marte was in the lineup in right field and made the most of the opportunity, logging his second three-hit effort of the campaign. It was highlighted by an RBI double down the right-field line to cap off a six-run second inning for Kansas City. Across 91 plate appearances this season, the veteran outfielder is hitting .277/.330/.361 with a homer, four doubles, six RBI and eight runs scored.

  • Royals' Starling Marte: Pops first homer in win

Marte went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Twins. Drawing the start at designated hitter versus southpaw Connor Prielipp, Marte lifted his first homer of the campaign Sunday. The left-handed-hitting Carter Jensen should continue to serve as Kansas City's primary DH, but Marte could see an uptick in at-bats in right field until Jac Caglianone (shoulder) returns to action. Even so, Marte is slashing a pedestrian .258/.315/.348 with four extra-base hits, five RBI, five runs scored and no stolen bases over 73 plate appearances.

  • Royals' Starling Marte: Trio of hits Thursday

Marte went 3-for-4 with an RBI and was caught stealing in Thursday's 6-3 loss against the Athletics. With left-hander Jeffrey Springs (hip) starting for the Athletics, Marte was inserted into Thursday's lineup and came through with his first multi-hit effort of the season. The veteran opened the scoring in the first inning with an opposite-field single to plate Maikel Garcia. Marte has handled a limited role as a short-side platoon option for the Royals but has produced when called upon, as evidenced by a .303 batting average. The 37-year-old has yet to draw a walk or show much power across 35 plate appearances, however.

  • Royals' Starling Marte: Handling limited platoon role

Marte will start in right field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Yankees. Marte will crack the Royals' starting nine for just the sixth time in the team's first 22 games, with the 37-year-old seeing the majority of his at-bats against left-handed pitching. He's batting .200 (4-for-20) with a 0:7 BB:K.

  • Royals' Starling Marte: Signs with Royals

Marte signed a one-year contract with the Royals on Saturday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports. Marte is coming off his most efficient season in three years, as he finished 2025 with a .270/.335/.410 slash line to go with nine homers, 34 RBI, 37 runs scored and seven steals in 329 plate appearances. That being said, the 37-year-old outfielder hasn't appeared in more than 100 games since 2022, and he likely isn't slated for a full-time role in Kansas City either. Instead, he'll presumably work in tandem with Jac Caglianone in right field and Carter Jensen at DH, filling in for one of the two against left-handed starters.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Not in lineup versus lefty

Marte is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Cubs. Marte almost always plays versus lefties but will begin this one on the bench as southpaw Shota Imanaga toes the rubber for the Cubs. Mark Vientos will start at designated hitter and Brett Baty will play third base.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Benefiting from LHP-heavy schedule

Marte will start at designated hitter and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Rangers. Marte will claim his fifth start in six games, with each coming against a left-handed pitcher. The veteran outfielder/designated hitter is slashing just .231/.231/.269 since the start of September and will likely remain in a short-side platoon role for the rest of the season.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: On bench after three straight starts

Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta. Marte had served as the Mets' designated hitter in each of the last three games, but he'll cede those duties to Pete Alonso in the series finale in Atlanta. Brandon Nimmo (neck) will remain on the bench for a fourth game in a row, but assuming that Nimmo doesn't require a stint on the injured list, Marte will likely be limited to a short-side platoon role heading into the upcoming week.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Goes yard in Thursday's loss

Marte went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Nationals. The veteran hitter took MacKenzie Gore deep in the third inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead, but the game quickly got away from New York after that. Marte has just seven homers on the season, but three of them have come in his last seven contests, a stretch in which he's batting .375 (9-for-24). Despite that August power surge, he'll continue handling a part-time role at DH as the team tries to find playing time for Mark Vientos, Brett Baty, Jeff McNeil and Ronny Mauricio in a crowded infield.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Idle for third straight game

Marte is out of the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mariners. Marte is on the bench for a third straight game, signaling that the Mets are still viewing him as a part-time player. Though Marte should continue to rank as the Mets' preferred choice at designated hitter against left-handed pitching, manager Carlos Mendoza looks content to rotate a number of players at the DH spot versus righties.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Getting rest Thursday

Marte isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against Atlanta. Marte has collected a hit in each of his last four games while going 7-for-17 with a pair of homers, but he'll step out of the starting nine Thursday. Ronny Mauricio will act as New York's designated hitter instead and bat seventh.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Goes deep in multi-hit game

Marte went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 loss to Milwaukee. The veteran outfielder clobbered his first homer since coming off the injured list in late July and his fifth of the year overall, but he missed a chance at some heroics when he was thrown out at the plate trying to score from second base on a Jeff McNeil single for the game's final out. Marte continues to play a part-time role alongside Mark Vientos at designated hitter, and since the beginning of July he's hitting .349 (15-for-43) with a homer, five doubles, four runs, three RBI and one stolen base.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Returns from injured list

The Mets activated Marte (knee) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Marte missed two weeks of action with a right knee bruise, but he will skip a rehab assignment and go directly back on the Mets' 26-man active roster. The 36-year-old is expected to be used primarily as a designated hitter, though he could occasionally see playing time in left field if Brandon Nimmo requires a day off.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Taking batting practice

Marte (knee) is taking batting practice, and the Mets still anticipate that he'll return from the injured list before the end of July, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. The 36-year-old hasn't recovered from a knee bruise quite as quickly as the team had hoped, but Marte isn't expected to miss too much more time. Through 188 plate appearances on the season, he's slashing .270/.353/.387 with four homers, five steals, 20 RBI and 22 runs.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Expected back after ASB

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Friday that the results of Marte's (knee) MRI were "very encouraging," and the Mets expect Marte to return after the All-Star break, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Marte was placed on the injured list July 7 due to a bruised right knee, but he may not miss more than the required 10 days. The outfielder is slashing .270/.353/.387 in 188 plate appearances this season.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Lands on injured list

The Mets placed Marte on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to July 7, due to a right knee bruise. The veteran outfielder has been playing through the injury for a while, but the issue flared up after he started in the outfield Sunday for the fifth time all season. According to Laura Albanese of Newsday, manager Carlos Mendoza said Marte is expected to be back shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Getting knee checked out

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said after Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Yankees that Marte will get evaluated after his knee "flared up" in the ninth inning, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Marte was in the lineup for the fourth time in the last five games but was making just his fifth start of the season in the outfield while Brandon Nimmo served as the Mets' designated hitter. The 36-year-old provided a spark from the top of the order over his five plate appearances with three base hits and his fifth stolen base of the season, but the flareup of his chronic knee issue now clouds his availability heading into the All-Star break. Even if Marte is able to quickly bounce back from the knee problem, his playing time could soon trend downward with Jesse Winker (oblique) expected to return from the injured list at some point during the upcoming week.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: On bench Sunday

Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Marte has been a lineup regular of late and has an .865 OPS through 11 games in June, but he'll take a seat Sunday. Francisco Lindor is resting his legs as the designated hitter while Luisangel Acuna receives a start at shortstop.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Season-high three RBI in loss

Marte went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a walk in Friday's 7-5 loss to the Rays. The three RBI set a season high for Marte, who is heating up at the dish lately. Over his last 30 at-bats, Marte is hitting .333 with one home run, two doubles, four RBI and eight runs scored. Marte has essentially been functioning as New York's primary designated hitter while Mark Vientos (hamstring) and Jesse Winker (oblique) have been sidelined, so he has a short-term boost in fantasy appeal.

  • Mets' Starling Marte: Hits fourth homer

Marte went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored during Thursday's 6-5 loss to the Dodgers. Marte picked up his first multi-hit game since May, reaching in four of five plate appearances Thursday. That included his fourth home run of the season and first in June. The 36-year-old, who entered the game with just four hits in his last 17 at-bats, will hope this game can get him going as his current batting average of .240 in 104 at-bats is on track for the lowest of his career.
