The Nationals designated Yepez for assignment Monday.

Yepez will be moved off the Nationals' 40-man roster to clear a spot for infielder Brady House, who was promoted from Triple-A Rochester on Monday. After failing to win a spot on Washington's Opening Day roster coming out of spring training, Yepez has spent the entire season with Rochester and has hit .199/.273/.301 with three home runs in 172 plate appearances. Given his struggles at Triple-A and limited defensive flexibility, the 27-year-old Yepez is likely to clear waivers.

The Nationals selected House's contract from Triple-A Rochester on Monday. He will start at third base and bat sixth in the Nationals' series opener versus the Rockies.

Reports surfaced Sunday indicating that House was on his way to the big leagues, and the move is now official. The top prospect earned a promotion after slashing .304/.353/.519 with 13 home runs in 65 contests with Rochester. He will take over as the Nationals' everyday third baseman.

The Marlins promoted White from High-A Beloit to Double-A Pensacola on Monday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

White missed some time at Beloit with a finger injury but has been excellent when healthy, posting a 2.83 ERA and 53:17 K:BB over 35 innings covering nine starts. He's been especially sharp since returning in late May following a brief stint on the 7-day injured list, turning in a 16:1 K:BB over 10 frames in three outings. White is one of the better left-handed pitching prospects in baseball and has now reached the Double-A level at 20 years of age.

Casparius is expected to pitch in bulk relief in Monday's game against the Padres behind starter Shohei Ohtani (elbow), who will serve as the Dodgers' opening pitcher, Jeff Spiegel of DodgerBlue.com reports.

After Casparius limited San Diego to one run over four innings in his second start of the season this past Wednesday, manager Dave Roberts said that the right-hander would be part of the rotation moving forward. Though Roberts implied that Casparius would be utilized as a traditional starter, the 26-year-old is instead on track to cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen Monday after the team elected to have Ohtani bypass another simulated game in order to make his 2025 debut as a pitcher. Ohtani is expected to be limited to 1-to-2 innings Monday and will likely need at least a couple more outings after that to get fully stretched out for a typical starter's workload, so it wouldn't be surprising if Casparius ended up piggybacking the two-way phenom the next time Ohtani's turn in the rotation comes up.

The Brewers optioned Avans to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Avans was claimed off waivers earlier this month and went hitless in three plate appearances during his brief time with the Brewers. The club will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, and it's likely to be Daz Cameron (personal) returning from the paternity list.

The Rockies designated Hiura for assignment Monday.

Hiura's playing time had been scarce lately, so it's not a surprise he'll be pushed off the roster to make room for the return of Michael Toglia, who was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque. The veteran infielder had a .611 OPS in eight games for the Rockies and will now go through the waivers process.

The Rockies recalled Toglia from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

Toglia was sent down in late May after slashing only .194/.266/.349 with a 39.1 percent strikeout rate in his first 54 games. He cut his strikeout rate to a more respectable 29.4 percent at Albuquerque while collecting a .921 OPS and three home runs in 11 contests. Making contact remains an issue for Toglia, but he should play every day at first base, and his power upside makes him worth picking back up in fantasy leagues for managers in need of corner infield or outfield help.

Yastrzemski went 2-for-3 with an intentional walk and a run scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Yastrzemski singled on a bunt in the second inning and added another single in the fourth before coming around to score, putting the Giants on the board. The 34-year-old outfielder has logged at least one hit in six straight games after opening the month 0-for-12 with a 1:2 BB:K over 13 plate appearances. During that six-game span, he's slashing .444/.522/.611 with seven RBI, four runs scored, three doubles and a 4:4 BB:K across 23 plate appearances.

Montas (lat) may rejoin the Mets in a bullpen role rather than being plugged into the rotation right away, Tim Britton of the Athletic reports.

In his most recent rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Montas got hammered for eight runs in only 1.2 innings, and he'll get to make only one more start before his 30-day rehab stint expires. The 32-year-old is stretched out enough to handle a starting role -- he's thrown 129 pitches over his last two appearances -- but if his performance doesn't improve in his final outing for Syracuse, the Mets may not want to risk him in the rotation. New York plays 13 games in 13 days beginning Tuesday however and will almost certainly need a sixth starter to get through that stretch, and their options for that spot are limited with Paul Blackburn already set to fill in for Kodai Senga (hamstring). If the Mets decide that Montas isn't quite ready to start when he's activated from the 60-day injured list, it could open the door for a prospect such as Nolan McLean to make a spot start instead.

Lee went 1-for-5 with a two-RBI triple in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers.

Lee knocked his fifth triple of the season down the right-field line in the fourth inning, driving in two runs and giving the Giants a 3-2 lead. The 26-year-old struggled in the club's three-game series against Los Angeles, going 1-for-13 with two RBI, a triple, a run scored and a 2:1 BB:K over 15 plate appearances. Lee is batting a lackluster .205 in June but has also posted an 11.1 percent strikeout rate, 10 runs scored, three RBI, three triples, three doubles and a stolen base across 54 plate appearances.
