Basabe is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Reds, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

With a .167/.196/.185 slash line over his last 15 games, Basabe will get a breather Tuesday. Shay Whitcomb will take over at third base and bat seventh for San Francisco.

Waldschmidt is out of the lineup for Tuesday's matchup against the Cubs, per Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com.

After going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts during the series opener against the Cubs on Monday, Waldschmidt will sit out Tuesday. The Diamondbacks are starting Jordan Lawlar in center field and having him bat ninth for the second contest of a three-game set.

Manager Dave Roberts didn't rule out the possibility of Ohtani (knee) pitching Sunday against the Tigers, depending how things go the next few days, Maddie Lee of the Los Angeles Times reports.

The skipper indicated Sunday that Ohtani could pitch in a game as early as this week, and it appears the two-way star is in play to close out the three-game series in Detroit. The right-hander threw 30 pitches in a session of live batting practice Saturday and will have one more mound session this week. If that goes well, Ohtani could make his first appearance on the bump for the Dodgers since early July. He would likely have a limited workload early on, which would give Eric Lauer a chance to work in a piggyback role.

Myers is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Giants.

Myers went 0-for-4 in the series-opening 5-0 loss to the Giants on Monday. Myers last sat Aug. 17 against the Cardinals, but he came off the bench for a game-tying, pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the ninth. As for Tuesday, TJ Friedl has the start in center field and is batting ninth.

Sheets isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Sheets will step out of the starting nine Tuesday after going 0-for-4 with a pair of walks across San Diego's last three games. Luis Rengifo will serve as the designated hitter while Sheets sits, opening up left field for Dustin Harris.

Smith (neck) is scheduled to catch five innings for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

It will be Smith's first game action since he went down in early June due to neck inflammation. The Dodgers will ease him into action, working him up to catching a complete game. The goal is to have the 31-year-old ready by Sept. 1, which is when MLB rosters expand.

Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Tuesday that Suarez (elbow) could begin throwing bullpen sessions soon, Grant McAuley of the Marietta Daily Journal reports.

He will likely need a handful of bullpen sessions, and if those go well the reliever would then be cleared for a rehab assignment. Atlanta remains hopeful of Suarez returning sometime in September, but he can't afford any bumps in the road. Suarez has been sidelined for more than two months with right elbow inflammation.

The Rockies optioned Fulford to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old was up with the Rockies the past week but will return to Triple-A since Hunter Goodman (shoulder) was activated from the injured list Tuesday. Fulford hasn't made much of an impact offensively when up with Colorado this year with a .174/.253/.275 slash line in 43 games.

The Rockies selected Adams' contract from Triple-A Albuquerque, and he will start Tuesday's game against the Nationals.

It will be the major-league debut for the 26-year-old, who has a 3.67 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 49:20 K:BB across 49 innings at the Triple-A level this year. Adams was acquired from the White Sox in the Brenton Doyle trade in early August and could get at least a couple turns through the rotation after Kyle Freeland (neck) was placed on the injured list Monday.

Tovar (wrist) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Nationals.

Tovar had to be pulled from Monday's contest after tweaking his left wrist on a diving play at shortstop. He's considered day-to-day. Ryan Ritter will fill in at shortstop for the Rockies on Tuesday.
