Sanoja is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Atlanta.

Maximo Acosta will get the nod at third base Monday in place of Sanoja, who went 6-for-15 with a home run, a double, a walk, a stolen base, four RBI and three runs while starting in each of the previous four games. Until Miami gets one of Connor Norby (wrist) or Graham Pauley (oblique) back from the injured list, Sanoja looks primed to serve as the Marlins' top option at the hot corner.

The Mets transferred Montas (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Jose Castillo, who was called up from Triple-A Syracuse. Montas has already been ruled out for the season with an injured UCL in his right elbow that could require Tommy John surgery.

Castillo was outrighted off the 40-man roster earlier this month, but he's getting another shot in the majors after allowing just one run with a 9:1 K:BB over his last 5.1 innings with Syracuse. The lefty reliever holds a 5.30 ERA and 20:9 K:BB across 18.2 frames at the big-league level this season between the Diamondbacks and Mets.

The Mets placed Garrett on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right elbow inflammation.

Garrett had been tagged for eight runs over 4.2 innings covering his last five appearances. He's been given a cortisone shot and hopes to be ready for activation Sept. 7 when first eligible, according to Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record. Garrett's spot on the active roster and in the bullpen will be absorbed by Jose Castillo, who was called up from Triple-A Syracuse.

Mullins is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

The left-handed-hitting Mullins has been playing fairly regularly against southpaws since the Mets acquired him from the Orioles on July 31, but he'll take a seat Monday while the Phillies send lefty Cristopher Sanchez to the hill. With Mullins on the bench, New York will roll out a starting outfield of Brandon Nimmo, Tyrone Taylor and Juan Soto from left to right.

Baty is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

The left-handed-hitting Baty had started in each of the Mets' last eight games -- including two against left-handed pitchers -- but he'll hit the bench Monday while the Phillies send southpaw Cristopher Sanchez to the bump. Though the Mets could continue to be selective about using Baty versus lefties, the 25-year-old is one of the hottest hitters in the lineup and appears to have solidified himself as a mainstay in the starting nine against righties. Since the beginning of August, Baty is slashing a sizzling .321/.390/.566 with four home runs and one stolen base in 16 games.

Nimmo (neck) will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Phillies.

After exiting Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Nationals with a stiff neck, Nimmo was held out of the starting nine for the Mets' next four games, though he made an appearance as a pinch hitter in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Atlanta. With Nimmo's neck issue having seemingly improved with the rest, he'll take back his usual spot in the Mets outfield as the team kicks off an important three-game set with Philadelphia.

Senger is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.

While Luis Torrens tended to a sore hand, Senger made three consecutive starts behind the plate from Thursday through Saturday, going 2-for-12 with four RBI and a run scored. Torrens returned to the lineup for Sunday's 4-3 win over Atlanta and will draw another start behind the plate in Monday's series opener versus the Phillies, so Senger looks set to see limited usage as the Mets' No. 2 backstop until Francisco Alvarez (thumb) returns from the injured list.

Torrens will start at catcher and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Phillies.

A sore left hand kept Torrens out of action for three straight games before he re-entered the lineup Sunday in the Mets' 4-3 loss to Atlanta. Torrens' hand checked out fine after going 1-for-3 with a base hit while playing eight innings behind the dish, so he'll stick in the starting nine for the second straight day as the Mets open a three-game set with the Phillies. Torrens is likely to see the bulk of the starts at catcher until top backstop Francisco Alvarez (thumb) is ready to return from the injured list.

Whisenhunt is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Cubs at Oracle Park.

Optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 12 after turning in a 5.02 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB in 14.1 innings through his first three MLB starts, Whisenhunt received a call back to the Giants less than two weeks later when an injury to Landen Roupp (knee) reopened a spot in the rotation. Whisenhunt took the hill Friday in Milwaukee and kept the Brewers off the board through the first three frames, but he struggled in his second turn through the batting order and was ultimately tagged for two earned runs on four hits, two walks and one hit batsman across four innings before being lifted from the contest. Despite Whisenhunt's poor numbers in the big leagues to date, he'll receive at least one more start while the Giants are short on quality alternatives at Triple-A to replace him in the rotation.
