Hunter Greene SP | CIN
Reds' Hunter Greene: Starting assignment Tuesday
Greene (groin/back) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Greene felt good coming out of a 20-pitch simulated game Wednesday, and after completing a bullpen session Saturday without issue, the right-hander will get the green light to pitch in a minor-league game. If all goes well Tuesday, the 25-year-old could be activated from the 15-day injured list to start the Reds' final game before the All-Star break July 13 versus the Rockies. Otherwise, he'll likely aim to return shortly after the second half of the season begins.

Ketel Marte 2B | ARI
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Idle Saturday
Marte isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals, Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic reports.
Ketel has gone 4-for-12 with two home runs over his last three games but will retreat to the dugout for Saturday's contest, Blaze Alexander will take over at the keystone and bat ninth.

Derek Law RP | ARI
Nationals' Derek Law: Moves to 60-day IL
The Nationals transferred Law (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Saturday.
Law has been on the injured list all season due to forearm inflammation, so his move to the 60-day IL doesn't affect his return timeline and is simply a way to clear a 40-man spot for the newly activated Mason Thompson (elbow). Law restarted his rehab assignment Wednesday after being shut down with renewed forearm soreness and will likely require a few more appearances in the minors before returning to Washington.

Zach Brzykcy RP | MIA
Nationals' Zach Brzykcy: Optioned to Rochester
The Nationals optioned Brzykcy to Triple-A Rochester on Saturday.
Brzykcy has been getting hit around quite a bit as of late, surrendering nine earned runs in just 3.2 innings across his last five outings. He'll head back to Triple-A in an effort to right the ship, clearing a spot in the Nationals' bullpen for Mason Thompson (elbow) to return from the IL.

Mason Thompson RP | TEX
Nationals' Mason Thompson: Back from injured list
The Nationals reinstated Thompson (elbow) from the injured list Saturday.
Thompson has spent the entire season working his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent in March 2024. He gave up six earned runs over eight frames during his rehab assignment, though he threw 1.1 scoreless innings at Triple-A Rochester. Now fully healthy, he'll replace Zach Brzykcy in Washington's bullpen and take Derek Law's (forearm) place on the 40-man.

Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI
Cardinals' Nolan Arenado: Scratched from lineup
Arenado was scratched from the lineup ahead of Saturday's game versus the Cubs due to a right shoulder impingement, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Arenado missed two games earlier this week due to a sprained finger, but a new shoulder issue will hold him out of Saturday's contest. The Cardinals are labeling him as day-to-day for now and will instead start Thomas Saggese at third base against Chicago.

Tyler Zuber RP | MIA
Mets' Tyler Zuber: Dropped from 40-man
The Mets designated Zuber for assignment Saturday.
The Mets needed to open up a 40-man roster spot after signing Zach Pop to a big-league contract, and Zuber will end up as the odd man out. The 30-year-old righty owns a 6.11 ERA and 1.68 WHIP across 28 innings in the minors and is likely to pass through waivers unclaimed.

Austin Warren RP | NYM
Mets' Austin Warren: Back in Syracuse
The Mets optioned Warren to Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.
After spending three days with the Mets and giving up one run over 1.2 innings, Warren will head back to Triple-A to make room on the active roster for Zach Pop, who officially signed with the team Saturday. Warren owns a 4.18 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through 32.1 frames in the minors this season and remains an option to rejoin the Mets later this summer.

Tim Tawa LF | ARI
Diamondbacks' Tim Tawa: Optioned to Reno
The Diamondbacks optioned Tawa to Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
Tawa has struggled during his time in the majors, slashing .200/.262/.355 with six homers, 14 RBI, 21 runs scored and seven steals through 173 plate appearances. He'll be sent back to Triple-A in order to get back on track, clearing space on the roster for Corbin Carroll's (wrist) return from the injured list.
-
Corbin Carroll RF | ARI
Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Activated from injured list
The Diamondbacks reinstated Carroll (wrist) from the injured list Saturday.
Carroll has been on the injured list with a chip fracture in his left wrist since June 24. After playing a rehab game in the Arizona Complex League and going 0-for-2 with two walks, he's been given the green light to return to the D-backs' lineup. He'll slide right back in as Arizona's primary right fielder, and Tim Tawa will head to Triple-A Reno in order to make room on the active roster.
