The Giants optioned Wilkinson and recalled him from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.

Designated as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader with the Diamondbacks, Wilkinson ended up coming up from Sacramento start the first game of the twin bill. Despite taking a loss and dropping to 0-2 through his three big-league starts, Wilkinson turned in a credible performance, striking out four batters over six innings while limiting Arizona to two earned runs on three hits and two walks. Even with San Francisco paring its active roster back to 26 men following the doubleheader, Wilkinson will stick around with the big club after reliever Sam Hentges (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. The rookie left-hander could be called upon to make another start during the Giants' series with the Mets at Citi Field during the upcoming weekend.

Gallen (elbow) struck out two and allowed one hit and two walks over 1.2 scoreless innings in a rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Reno.

The Diamondbacks were likely hoping for Gallen to cover another inning in his first official game action since July 7, but he needed 46 pitches (28 strikes) to record five outs before reaching his workload limit for the day. Assuming Gallen checked out fine physically following Sunday's outing, he should be in line for at least one more rehab start during the upcoming week before making his return from the 60-day injured list thereafter. Gallen has been on the shelf since July 12 due to right elbow inflammation.

Musgrove (elbow) is expected to make one final minor-league rehab start this week before returning from the 60-day injured list, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Musgrove made the fourth start of his rehab assignment this past Thursday for Triple-A El Paso, tossing 60 pitches over five innings and striking out three batters while allowing one run on five hits and no walks. Overall, the right-hander owns a 4.60 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 15.2 innings between three starts with El Paso and one with Single-A Lake Elsinore. Though he looks like he'll require one more tune-up outing in the minors, Musgrove should soon be poised to make his first appearance for the Padres since Sept. 26, 2024. He missed all of the 2025 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery and has been on the shelf throughout 2026 after experiencing a setback with his surgically repaired elbow following an exhibition game back in March.

Vientos (hand) joined the Mets in Tampa on Monday and could be activated from the 10-day injured list during the team's upcoming three-game series versus the Rays, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Vientos' rehab assignment appears to have come to an end, after the 26-year-old wrapped up his time in the minors on a high note by slugging three home runs Sunday with Triple-A Syracuse. Between stops with Syracuse and Double-A Binghamton during his week-and-a-half-long stint in the minors, Vientos showed no sign of his power being sapped by the fractured hand that has kept him on the shelf for nearly two months. Over seven games, Vientos slashed .391/.440/1.043 with five long balls and a 2:6 BB:K. Vientos had struggled to a .169/.220/.297 slash line over 159 plate appearances against right-handed pitching prior to landing on the IL, so despite his success on the farm, he could have to settle for a short-side platoon role upon his return.

Winn (thumb) could be activated from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Tuesday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Working his way back from a fractured left thumb, Winn resumed swinging a bat this past weekend and has felt significant improvement. Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol on Sunday stopped short of committing to Winn being activated Tuesday, but the skipper did say the transaction would occur early on during the team's Sept. 1-9 road trip.

Wetherholt will have his injured right wrist examined by a specialist in Arizona early this week, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Wetherholt has dealt with discomfort in his wrist for the past month, and he was finally placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday after the pain had become "pretty, pretty bad" in recent days, per the infielder. He's been diagnosed with tendinitis, and a plan for treatment will be mapped out during his early-week exam. The Cardinals expect Wetherholt to return sometime in September, but more clarity regarding a timetable could be available later this week.

The Cardinals will call up Rincon from Triple-A Memphis when rosters expand Tuesday, his agency, Sports Agents International, announced Monday.

Rincon will receive his first-ever big-league promotion after logging a 4.04 ERA and 88:31 K:BB over 71.1 innings this season at Memphis. The 24-year-old is a former starter and will give the Cardinals some potential length in the bullpen.

The Diamondbacks optioned Bratt to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Bratt started the second game of Saturday's doubleheader versus the Giants, coughing up three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings. Because he was on the roster as the 27th man, the southpaw is eligible to be recalled at any time, putting Bratt in the mix to start a game this weekend in Houston.

McLain moved from second base to shortstop during Sunday's game after Elly De La Cruz was removed in the seventh inning with a quadriceps injury.

De La Cruz's injury is not considered significant, and he could return in time for Monday's game pending an evaluation. McLain has been the primary second baseman since Spencer Steer (wrist) landed on the injured list July 27.

Arroyo started at third base and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 7-5 win over the Cubs.

Arroyo made his first start for the Reds since being called up Friday when the team placed Ke'Bryan Hayes (groin) on the 10-day injured list. This was his first time starting at third base for the Reds, although he did play seven games at the hot corner for Triple-A Louisville this year. He and Eugenio Suarez, who was the designated hitter Sunday, can fill in at third base while Hayes is unavailable.
