  • Mets' Cole Mathis: Back in action at High-A

Mathis (undisclosed) has gone 1-for-13 with a stolen base and a 3:5 BB:K in four games for High-A Brooklyn since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Wednesday.

Mathis missed just under a month due to the unspecified injury and didn't require any rehab appearances in the Florida State League before making his return to Brooklyn. Acquired from the Cubs in late June in the trade that sent left-hander David Peterson to Chicago, Mathis has appeared in just 13 games across three minor-league levels with his new organization and is slashing a collective .119/.283/.143.

  • Mets' Cole Mathis: Back on shelf at High-A

High-A Brooklyn placed Mathis on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to an unspecified injury.

Mathis will head to the IL for the second time this season, though it's unclear if his latest setback on the health front is related to the injury that kept him out for about seven weeks earlier this summer. The 23-year-old corner infielder -- whom the Mets acquired in the June 25 deal that sent left-hander David Peterson to the Cubs -- debuted for his new organization on July 23 before being reinstated from Brooklyn's injured list Aug. 4. He appeared in just three games for Brooklyn -- going 1-for-11 with a double and 3:5 BB:K -- prior to landing back on the IL a week later.

  • Mets' Cole Mathis: Debuts at Brooklyn

Mathis (undisclosed) has gone 1-for-11 with a double, three walks, two RBI and a run scored in three games for High-A Brooklyn since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Acquired from the Cubs in a June 25 deal that sent left-hander David Peterson back to Chicago, Mathis didn't make his Mets organizational debut until July 23 while he recovered from an unspecified injury that had kept him on the shelf at High-A South Bend since June 21. After appearing in six rehab games between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A St. Lucie, Mathis was given the green light to join the Mets' South Atlantic League affiliate.

  • Mets' Cole Mathis: Shipped to Queens

The Mets acquired Mathis from the Cubs on Wednesday in exchange for left-hander David Peterson, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

After turning in a 1.204 OPS through 66 plate appearances at Single-A Myrtle Beach to begin the season, Mathis received a promotion to High-A South Bend on April 21 and slashed .260/.371/.490 with three home runs in 25 games before landing on the 7-day injured list over the weekend with an unspecified injury. Assuming the injury isn't too significant, the 22-year-old infielder should be ready to debut with his new organization prior to the All-Star break. Mathis will likely report to High-A Brooklyn.
