    Rockies' Adael Amador: Demoted Friday

    The Rockies optioned Amador to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

    The 22-year-old was called up by Colorado on Sunday and had a productive few days in the majors, going 5-for-9 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs in three games. Despite the demotion Friday, Amador could soon rejoin the big club with Ryan McMahon being traded to the Yankees.

    Reds' Scott Barlow: On paternity list

    The Reds placed Barlow on the paternity list Friday.

    Barlow will be temporarily away from the team for personal reasons. While he's away, Luis Mey will fill the vacated spot in the bullpen. Barlow has a 3.53 ERA in 44.2 innings of relief this season.

    Rockies' Thairo Estrada: Returns from injured list

    The Rockies reinstated Estrada (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Friday.

    The infielder hasn't seen the field since July 7 due to a thumb sprain, but he's ready to rejoin Colorado for Friday's series opener in Baltimore. Estrada has a .284/.312/.397 slash line with two homers in 29 games this season and should reclaim the starting job at second base now that he's healthy.

    Brewers' Sal Frelick: Not ready to return

    Frelick (hamstring) isn't active for Friday's game against the Marlins, Sophia Minnaert of FanDuel Sports Network Wisconsin reports.

    Frelick was aiming to return for Friday's contest, but he'll have his return date pushed back at least one day. The outfielder is tending to a strained left hamstring, and he'll go through a full pregame workout Friday.

    Diamondbacks' Alek Thomas: Away from team

    Arizona placed Thomas on the bereavement list on Thursday.

    Thomas will be away from the team while he tends to a personal matter. His spot on the 26-man active roster will be taken by outfielder Jorge Barrosa, who was recalled from Triple-A Reno. Thomas is slashing .246/.294/.366 in 292 plate appearances this season.

    Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Back with D-Backs

    Barrosa was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

    Barrosa will join the active roster for the first time since early May, filling in for Alek Thomas (personal). Barrosa has three hits in 15 at-bats with the Diamondbacks this season, and he's slashed .300/.384/.436 in 408 plate appearances for Reno.

    Rockies' Josh Grosz: Dealt to Rockies

    Grosz and Griffin Herring were traded to the Rockies from the Yankees in exchange for Ryan McMahon on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

    The Yankees selected Grosz in the 11th round of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft, and he's spent the 2025 season at High-A Hudson Valley. In 87 innings with Hudson Valley, Grosz owns a 4-8 record, a 4.14 ERA and a 94:35 K:BB.

  • Rockies' Griffin Herring: Dealt to Colorado in McMahon trade

    Herring and an additional pitching prospect were traded to the Rockies from the Yankees on Friday in exchange for Ryan McMahon, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.

    Herring, a sixth-round pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, will get a fresh start in the Rockies organization after being involved in the deal centered around McMahon. The 22-year-old Herring has made 16 starts this season across Low-A and High-A, totaling a 1.71 ERA and a 102:36 K:BB across 89.1 innings.

    Marlins' Freddy Tarnok: Brought up to bigs

    The Marlins recalled Tarnok from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

    Tarnok will join the 26-man roster in place of Lake Bachar, who's been put on the paternity list. Tarnok has pitched two scoreless innings with the Marlins this season and owns a 3.90 ERA in 55.1 innings at Triple-A.
