The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
The 25-year-old was called up in mid-April and immediately received some chances in the outfield, but he'll return to Louisville after going 4-for-33 with 18 strikeouts in 12 big-league games. Continuing his hot start to the season at Triple-A (five homers and a 1.246 OPS in 61 plate appearances), may not be enough for Hinds to get another look in the majors, considering his career 42.0 percent strikeout rate in 131 PAs with the Reds.

Rotowire
Hinds is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Tigers.
Hinds has gone 4-for-28 with 14 strikeouts in his first eight games of the season and finds himself on the bench Sunday for the third time in Cincinnati's past four contests. The 25-year-old may not have much more time to get his bat on track before potentially heading back to the minors. JJ Bleday is picking up a start in the outfield Sunday for the Reds.

Rotowire
Hinds is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Though he appears to have overtaken Will Benson as the Reds' primary right fielder, Hinds will hit the bench Wednesday after four straight starts. Since being called up from Triple-A Louisville on April 14, Hinds has slashed .125/.185/.208 with five RBI and two runs in seven games.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Hitless in debut
Rotowire
Hinds started in right field and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Giants.
Hinds made his season debut for the Reds against San Francisco lefty Robbie Ray. The outfielder was recalled earlier in the day to replace Noelvi Marte, who was optioned to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move, and Hind is expected to platoon with the lefty-hitting Will Benson in right field. Hinds had a superb spring training, but he spent the first weeks of the season in Louisville, where he had a 1.246 OPS and five home runs over 13 games (61 plate appearances). The biggest adjustment Hinds made is laying off breaking balls lower in the zone, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. As a result, Hinds lowered his strikeout rate from 31.8 percent the last two seasons in the minors to 24.6 percent this year, and his walk rate shot up from 8.2 percent to 19.7 over the same timeframe.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Promotion to majors coming
Rotowire
The Reds are expected to recall Hinds from Triple-A Louisville prior to Tuesday's game against the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
He will take the roster spot vacated by Noelvi Marte, who has been optioned to Louisville. Hinds has earned the promotion following a monster start to the season with Louisville, having slashed .354/.475/.771 with five home runs, one stolen base and a 12:15 BB:K across 61 plate appearances. The 25-year-old has big power and speed upside, but the key for him will be making enough contact, as Hinds has struck out at a 38.9 percent clip during his time in the majors and a 31.4 percent rate at the Triple-A level. With Marte in the minors, Hinds and Will Benson are in line to see the bulk of the playing time in right field for Cincinnati.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Bids for roster spot
Rotowire
Hinds started at designated hitter and went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's spring game against the Angels.
Hinds has delivered a monster spring, going 15-for-38 (.395) with four doubles, one triple, five home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored. In any other year, he might be a no-brainer to claim a roster spot, but the Reds have several productive outfielders this spring. At this point, beyond the projected starters, there appear to be two outfield spots available. Hinds, Will Benson (1,038 OPS, four HR), JJ Bleday (1.072, four HR) and Dane Myers (1.180 OPS) are still in the mix.

After being promoted from Louisville on June 22, Hinds appeared in seven games for the Reds and went 2-for-23 with four runs scored. In a corresponding move, the Reds reinstated Connor Joe (illness) from the 10-day injured list, and he'll likely replace Hinds as a short-side platoon player in the corner outfield.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Back on bench vs. RHP
Rotowire
Hinds is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Hinds was included in the lineup in four of the past five games while Cincinnati faced a parade of southpaws, but he'll be back on the bench Sunday against Zack Wheeler. Hinds looks as though he'll be limited to the short side of a platoon in right field with Will Benson until Jake Fraley (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Moves up from Triple-A
Rotowire
The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Hinds will be up for the second time this season after he went 3-for-19 with a pair of home runs during a two-week stretch with the big club in May. He'll receive another look after slashing .381/.435/.683 with a palatable 21.7 percent strikeout rate so far in June for Louisville. Expect the Reds to deploy Hinds mainly as a short-side platoon player in the corner outfield or at designated hitter.

Rotowire
Hinds started in right field and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 win over Cleveland.
Hinds was added to the starting lineup when Gavin Lux was scratched due to back spasms. The outfielder did what he does best -- deliver an extra-base hit. Hinds has 15 hits in the majors over the last two years, and 13 have gone for extra bases.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Starts in right field
Rotowire
Hinds started in right field and went 0-for-3 in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Atlanta.
Hinds was recalled from Triple-A Louisville and started in right field for Jake Fraley (calf), who is day-to-day. The Reds have a few outfield injuries -- Austin Hays (hamstring) and Tyler Callihan (forearm) are on the 10-day injured list -- so Hinds may get additional work in the next few days. He slashed .281/.343/.554 with eight home runs and 12 steals this season for Louisville.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Enters game due to injury
Rotowire
Hinds entered Thursday's game after Will Benson (finger) was removed from a 6-1 loss to St. Louis.
Benson was pulled after injuring his left middle finger during a bunt attempt in the sixth inning. Amed Rosario finished the at-bat, and Hinds entered to the play the field in the seventh. Hinds has just eight plate appearances (zero starts) since being called up in late August. Benson's X-rays came back negative, and there may not be an immediate need for Hinds to fill in.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Back in majors
Rotowire
The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
Hinds takes Stuart Fairchild's (thumb) spot on the active roster as Fairchild hits the IL. Hinds hasn't been with the Reds since July 24 after going 12-for-40 (.316) with five homers during his first MLB stint. Though Fairchild served as Cincinnati's backup center fielder, all 10 of Hinds' big-league starts came in right field and it's unclear where the Reds intend to use the 23-year-old.

Rotowire
Hinds went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double in Monday's win over the Rockies.
Hinds was promoted from Triple-A Louisville for his MLB debut Monday and wasted no time making an impact. Reds' Rece Hinds: Active at Double-A
Rotowire
Hinds (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday for Double-A Chattanooga.
The Lookouts only have a couple games left this season, but at least Hinds' injury was minor and only cost him 10 days. Hinds was a strikeout machine earlier in the year (42.7 K% in first 49 games), but he is slashing .323/.396/.668 with 18 home runs, 11 steals and an acceptable 24.7 percent strikeout rate over his last 220 at-bats. Given that the Southern League switched out the pre-tacked baseballs in early-July, it would seem that this recent run from Hinds is a more relevant dataset than his early season mediocrity. The former third baseman primarily played right field this year while also seeing time in left field and at designated hitter. He will need to be added to the 40-man roster this offseason if the Reds want to protect him from the Rule 5 draft.

High-A Dayton reinstated Hinds (hand) from its 60-day injured list Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
The power-hitting Hinds will rejoin the Dayton lineup for the first time since June 21 after a two-month absence due to a hamate bone fracture in his left hand. Reds' Rece Hinds: Suffers left hamate fracture
Rotowire
Hinds was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list with a left hamate fracture Thursday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Hinds has struggled with strikeouts in the minors early in the season, as he's posted a 40 percent strikeout rate over 53 games at High-A Dayton. The 21-year-old played in Tuesday's game in Dayton but apparently sustained a hand injury that will require an IL stint. The team hasn't yet revealed a timetable for Hinds' return, but he'll presumably be forced to miss several weeks since he's dealing with a fracture.

Daytona activated Hinds for his first appearance with the affiliate since June 2 after he completed an 11-game rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
