Matt Chapman 3B | SF
Giants' Matt Chapman: In Friday's lineup
Chapman (elbow) is starting at third base and batting out of the cleanup spot against the Mets on Friday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Chapman was lifted from Wednesday's game against Atlanta after being hit by a pitch in the left elbow. The good news for the Giants and the veteran third baseman is that X-rays came back negative, and he has been given the green light to play in Friday's series opener. Chapman has gone 7-for-22 (.318) with one triple, two home runs and seven RBI since the All-Star break.

Landen Roupp SP | SF
Giants' Landen Roupp: Lands on 15-day IL
The Giants placed Roupp on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Wednesday, due to right elbow inflammation.
Roupp had been pitching well as of late, allowing just four earned runs over his last six starts to lower his ERA to 3.11 and WHIP to 1.43 across 101.1 innings this season. The 26-year-old right-hander will be shut down from throwing and undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury and map out a rehab program. The Giants recalled Tristan Beck from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Matt Shaw RF | CHC
Cubs' Matt Shaw: On bench Friday
Shaw isn't part of the starting lineup for Friday's game against the White Sox.
Shaw has been red hot coming out of the All-Star break, posting a six-game hit streak and going 9-for-19 (.474) with three homers. He'll get what appears to be a night off Friday to start off a three-game set against the White Sox. Vidal Brujan will play third base instead.

Warming Bernabel 3B | WAS
Rockies' Warming Bernabel: Set to join big club
The Rockies are expected to call up Bernabel from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
The move won't be made until Saturday, but it comes after the Rockies traded Ryan McMahon to the Yankees in exchange for prospects Josh Grosz and Griffin Herring. After spending the last two seasons with Double-A Hartford, Bernabel has spent the entire 2025 season in Triple-A, where he is slashing .301/.356/.450 with five steals, 18 doubles, eight home runs and 45 RBI in 315 plate appearances. With the Rockies sporting the worst record in the majors, the 23-year-old Bernabel could have an opportunity to serve as the everyday third baseman for the rest of the season.

Michael King SP | SD
Padres' Michael King: Set to throw sim game Monday
King (shoulder) will throw a simulated game Monday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
King is expected to return in August, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The 30-year-old right-hander has been sidelined since May 18 due to a pinched thoracic nerve. King's return will be a big boost to the San Diego rotation. He has a 4-2 record, 2.59 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 64:17 K:BB across 55.2 innings of work and 10 starts this season.

Kyle Tucker RF | LAD
Cubs' Kyle Tucker: Good to go Friday
Tucker (knee) is batting second and playing right field Friday against the White Sox.
Tucker fouled a ball off his right knee Tuesday and sat out Wednesday's contest due to the issue. However, he's back in the starting nine for Friday's series opener. The 28-year-old is slashing .275/.383/.493 in 441 plate appearances this season.

Mookie Betts SS | LAD
Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Not in lineup
Betts (personal) isn't in the starting nine for Friday's game against the Red Sox.
Manager Dave Roberts said after Wednesday's game that Betts may be away from the team Friday for personal reasons. Betts is out of the lineup, so it's safe to assume that he will be unavailable for the contest. Per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, Betts is expected to rejoin the team Saturday, but it's unclear if he'll be part of the starting nine.

Porter Hodge SP | CHC
Cubs' Porter Hodge: Starting rehab assignment
Hodge (shoulder) is slated to pitch for Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Hodge has been on the shelf since July 9 due to a right shoulder impingement, but he's been cleared to start a rehab assignment. It's unclear how many rehab appearances he'll require, but Hodge should rejoin the Cubs in the near future.
-
Kyle Hart RP | SD
Padres' Kyle Hart: Optioned to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Hart to Triple-A El Paso on Friday.
Hart threw 42 pitches in relief the previous two days, and San Diego needs a fresher arm for the bullpen. Ron Marinaccio has been recalled to take Hart's spot. Hart (3-2) has pitched in nine games (six starts) for the Padres this season, registering a 5.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 32.1 innings of action.

Jameson Taillon SP | CHC
Cubs' Jameson Taillon: Completes bullpen
Taillon (calf) threw 47 pitches in a bullpen session Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
Taillon has begun throwing off a mound, and his stamina is already quite built up. Manager Craig Counsell said July 4 that Taillon would miss at least a month of action, and the pitcher looks to be on track to return around that one-month mark. Given how far he is in the process of being stretched out, Taillon may not require many rehab starts if the Cubs decide to send him on an assignment.
