  • Ranger Suarez SP | BOS

Phillies' Ranger Suarez: Sharp in eighth win

Suarez (8-4) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings in a 9-4 victory over the Yankees. He struck out eight.

The southpaw fell short of his 12th quality start of the season, but Suarez racked up a whopping 38 called or swinging strikes among his 108 pitches (71 total strikes) as he collected his first win in July. Suarez has given up one run or fewer in six of his last eight outings, a stretch in which he's delivered a 2.50 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 52:16 K:BB over 50.1 innings. He'll look to stay sharp in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Tigers.

  • Giants' Patrick Bailey: Idle Saturday

Bailey isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

After tallying four hits over his last three games, Bailey will step out of the lineup against left-handed starter David Peterson. Andrew Knizner will get the nod to start at catcher instead Saturday, batting ninth.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Sitting down Saturday

Adams isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Twins.

Adams will give way to Drew Millas behind the plate after going 0-for-3 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener.

  • Edmundo Sosa 2B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Pulled from game with back injury

Sosa was removed from Saturday's contest against the Yankees due to a back contusion, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports.

Sosa and Brandon Marsh collided in the outfield on a popup in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Sosa was subsequently lifted after remaining down on the field for a few minutes. He was replaced at third base by Otto Kemp. Sosa is slated for further evaluation, which should give clarity about how much additional time, if any, he'll need to miss.

  • Brenton Doyle CF | COL

Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Out of Saturday's lineup

Doyle isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Doyle will miss a third consecutive start Saturday despite opening the second half of the season 7-for-13 at the plate. Jordan Beck, Mickey Moniak and Tyler Freeman will start in the outfield for the Rockies while Kyle Farmer serves as the designated hitter.

  • Michael Toglia 1B | COL

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Not starting Saturday

Toglia isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

After going 0-for-15 over his last four games, the switch-hitting Toglia will step out of the starting nine Saturday against left-handed starter Trevor Rogers. Warming Bernabel will make his MLB debut as Colorado's first baseman while Toglia rests.

  • Mookie Betts SS | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Remains out of lineup Saturday

Betts (personal) is not in the starting lineup Saturday versus Boston, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Betts missed Friday's series opener to tend to a personal matter, and he's absent from the starting nine again Saturday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Betts is expected to arrive in Boston around game time Saturday, so it appears his absence from the lineup is a matter of timing. If Betts gets to the ballpark during the contest, he could enter at some point during the game, but Miguel Rojas is getting another start at shortstop in the meantime.

  • Tyler Black 2B | MIL

Brewers' Tyler Black: Returns to minors

Milwaukee optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.

Black had been called up from Nashville on Sunday and got into three games with the Brewers (though he made only one start), going went 2-for-6 with a double and an RBI. His return to the minors Saturday makes room on the 26-man roster for the return of Sal Frelick (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list.

  • Sal Frelick RF | MIL

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Comes off IL

The Brewers activated Frelick (hamstring) off the 10-day injured list Saturday.

Frelick suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in the Brewers' final game before the All-Star break, so he'll end up missing only seven games due to the extra time off. Blake Perkins has been a near-everyday part of the Brewers' lineup while Frelick has been out, but the former will likely see a reduction in playing time now that the team's starting outfield is healthy. Tyler Black was optioned to the minors Saturday to make room for Frelick on the 26-man roster.

  • Marcell Ozuna DH | PIT

Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Getting rare start Saturday

Ozuna is starting at DH and batting seventh Saturday against the Rangers.

This will be just the second start of the second half for Ozuna, and his first since Sunday. The veteran slugger is having a down year with a .751 OPS through 94 contests, and he's consequently lost his everyday role. Atlanta has been keeping the bats of backstops Drake Baldwin and Sean Murphy in the lineup together by using one at DH in most games.
