Diamondbacks' Eduardo Rodriguez: Hit around in loss
Rodriguez (3-7) took the loss against the Tigers on Monday, allowing five runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings.
Rodriguez allowed runs in four different innings, including home runs in the fourth and sixth. The long ball has become an issue for the southpaw, who's surrendered seven homers across four July outings while posting a 7.40 ERA during that span. He'll carry a 5.63 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, and 98:34 K:BB over 92.2 innings into a road matchup with the Athletics this weekend.

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Undergoing X-rays on hand
Manager Torey Lovullo said after Monday's loss to the Tigers that Suarez will undergo X-rays on his right hand, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Lovullo continued to say that Suarez's hand and fingers were tender to the touch, and he's viewed as day-to-day for the time being. Suarez took a 96 mph fastball from Will Vest off the right hand in the top of the ninth inning and was immediately removed from the game in favor of Blaze Alexander.

Alex Freeland 2B | LAD
Dodgers' Alex Freeland: Headed to majors
The Dodgers are expected to select Freeland's contract from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Tuesday's game against the Reds, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Freeland is one of the Dodgers' top position prospects, and with Enrique Hernandez (elbow) and Max Muncy (knee) currently on the 10-day injured list, he'll give the team another healthy body in the infield. The 23-year-old has slashed .253/.377/.421 with 12 home runs and 17 stolen bases at Triple-A this season.

Jacob Young CF | WAS
Nationals' Jacob Young: Returning to lineup Monday
Young (finger) will start in center field and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Astros.
Young was held out of Sunday's 7-2 win while he tended to a bruised right index finger, but the day off was apparently all he needed to move past the issue. He'll take back his usual spot in center field as the Nationals open a three-game set in Houston.

Luis Garcia 1B | WAS
Nationals' Luis Garcia: Receiving night off
Garcia is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.
With a tough lefty (Framber Valdez) on the hill for Houston, the left-handed-hitting Garcia will get the night off. Paul DeJong will fill in at second base while Garcia sits after starting in each of the last five games.

Bryan Reynolds LF | PIT
Pirates' Bryan Reynolds: Out of lineup Monday
Reynolds is not in the starting lineup Monday against the Giants.
Alexander Canario is getting the start in right field and batting sixth against left-hander Carson Whisenhunt. Reynolds has hit left-handers better this season, but he's getting the night off from the starting nine. On the season, Reynolds is slashing a mediocre .232/.290/.375 with 10 home runs, 51 RBI, 40 runs scored, three stolen bases and a 30:115 BB:K across 428 plate appearances.

Nick Mears RP | KC
Brewers' Nick Mears: Good to go Monday
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Mears (back) will be available for Monday's game against the Cubs, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.
Mears tweaked his back prior to his relief appearance in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Marlins, but after resting up during the final two games of the weekend, the veteran reliever looks like he'll be ready to go for Monday's series opener. The right-hander heads into the contest having logged one win and 13 holds to go with a 2.95 ERA and 0.91 WHIP over 45 appearances for Milwaukee this season.

Kyle Stowers LF | MIA
Marlins' Kyle Stowers: Out Monday with illness
Stowers was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game in St. Louis due to an illness, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Stowers should be ready to return to the lineup in a day or two. The Marlins have inserted Heriberto Hernandez into the lineup in left field and in the cleanup spot in Stowers' place.

Drake Baldwin C | ATL
Braves' Drake Baldwin: Getting rest Monday
Baldwin is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
The left-handed-hitting Baldwin will be given a breather in the series opener while the Royals send southpaw Rich Hill to the bump. Marcell Ozuna will get the nod at designated hitter in place of Baldwin, who hit .250 with five doubles, nine RBI and five runs while starting in each of Atlanta's previous 10 games.
