Knizner went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a run scored in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Padres.

Knizner lined a double to right field in the third inning, driving in San Francisco's first run, before coming around to score. The hit was his first since Aug. 9 and just his second this month. The backup catcher is slashing .172/.213/.241 with eight runs scored, three RBI and one home run across 62 plate appearances this season.

Matos went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and a run scored in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Padres.

Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday and immediately made an impact in his return to the big leagues. The 23-year-old led off the third inning with a triple and came around to score the Giants' first run before adding a double in the seventh, marking his first game this season with multiple extra-base hits. He's slashing .178/.218/.381 with 14 runs scored, 13 RBI, five home runs and two stolen bases across 124 MLB plate appearances this season.

House went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Thursday's win over the Mets.

The rookie third baseman is still adjusting to big-league pitching, but he continues to offer occasional glimpses of his upside. House hasn't homered since July 13, and during his 25-game power drought the 22-year-old is slashing just .221/.225/.256 with a 30.3 percent strikeout rate. His minor-league resume offers hope that a turnaround will come eventually, although it might not happen until next season -- after posting a poor .655 OPS in his first taste of Triple-A in 2024, he delivered an .872 OPS in 65 games at the level this year to earn his promotion.

Adams went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI in Thursday's win over the Mets.

The 29-year-old continues to hold up surprisingly well in a starting role while Keibert Ruiz (concussion) remains sidelined. Over 30 games since Ruiz returned to the IL in early July, Adams is slashing .260/.343/.427 with four doubles, four homers, nine RBI and 13 runs. Ruiz is participating in baseball activities but remains without a timeline for his activation.

Willits went 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored, two RBI and a stolen base for Single-A Fredericksburg on Thursday.

Seeing his first game action since being selected first overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Willits looked more than ready for the challenge despite the fact that the 17-year-old is the youngest player in Fredericksburg history. Given his age, there's no reason to expect him to advance up the ladder quickly, but the fact that the Nationals felt he was ready for full-season ball is an excellent sign.

Marte went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's loss to the Nationals.

The veteran hitter took MacKenzie Gore deep in the third inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead, but the game quickly got away from New York after that. Marte has just seven homers on the season, but three of them have come in his last seven contests, a stretch in which he's batting .375 (9-for-24). Despite that August power surge, he'll continue handling a part-time role at DH as the team tries to find playing time for Mark Vientos, Brett Baty, Jeff McNeil and Ronny Mauricio in a crowded infield.

Snelling allowed four hits and three walks over six scoreless innings for Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday. He struck out eight.

The 21-year-old southpaw hasn't given up an earned run in 21 straight innings for the Jumbo Shrimp, and he's worked at least six innings in five straight starts, delivering a stunning 0.88 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 46:6 K:BB over 30.2 innings during that dominant stretch. Ryan Gusto is getting called up Friday to take the open spot in the Marlins' rotation created when Cal Quantrill was waived, but Snelling has done everything he can to demonstrate he's ready for a big-league audition over the final weeks of the season.

Alvarez will be Atlanta's starting third baseman for the rest of the season after Austin Riley (abdomen) underwent season-ending surgery, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

While manager Brian Snitker suggested that in the long run Alvarez might be better suited to a utility role, the 22-year-old will get a chance to change that impression over the final month-plus of the season. Through 91 plate appearances in the majors this year, Alvarez is slashing .247/.330/.309 with zero homers or steals, but he did hit 10 home runs and steal 10 bags with an .861 OPS over 64 Triple-A contests in 2024.

Sasaki (shoulder) threw 3.1 innings in a rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks while striking out two batters.

Sasaki struggled with his control Wednesday, throwing a modest 39 of his 60 pitches for strikes. However, he had better results than in his previous appearance with OKC, when he allowed three runs over two-plus frames. The rookie right-hander's fastball averaged 96 mph Wednesday after it sat in the 93-94 mph range in his first rehab start. Despite the step forward, it doesn't seem like Sasaki is ready to return to the big-league roster. The Dodgers' rotation has gotten mostly healthy since he's been shelved, and Emmet Sheehan has filled in capably as the sixth starter, so Sasaki doesn't have a clear role available once he's physically ready to return.

Kim (shoulder) went 2-for-3 with a run in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday. He started in left field and played five innings, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register.

Thursday marked Kim's first game action since July 28 as the rookie utility player progresses toward a return from left shoulder bursitis. Kim hadn't played left field prior to Thursday, but the Dodgers have gotten poor production from Michael Conforto (.618 OPS) as the primary option at the position. Los Angeles acquired Alex Call at the trade deadline and has been giving him some starts in left, but if Kim can handle the position defensively, he could get opportunities there after he's activated from the IL.
