  • Keider Montero SP | DET

Tigers' Keider Montero: Quality start in no-decision

Montero took a no-decision against the Royals on Friday, giving up one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out four batters over six innings.

After allowing a double to Jac Caglianone and a single to Isaac Collins to give Kansas City its first run in the second inning, Montero retired 13 of the next 15 batters he faced and finished the sixth inning with a 3-1 lead. A late-game collapse from Detroit's bullpen forced the 25-year-old to settle for a no-decision, but it was still a very strong start despite the outcome. He's allowed just two earned runs over his last 12.2 innings and will aim to keep the good times rolling during his next start against the struggling Mets.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Mariners' Luke Raley: Powers offense in win

Raley went 2-for-5 with two home runs and seven RBI during Friday's 12-8 victory over the White Sox.

After striking out in his first at-bat, Raley took advantage of his bases-loaded opportunity in the third and hit a grand slam off starter Sean Burke to give Seattle a 5-1 lead. The Sox caught up within half an inning, but Raley's three-run homer off Tyler Davis in the seventh put the M's ahead 9-5 and ensured Chicago would trail for the rest of the game. Now with eight homers on the season, Raley has surpassed Cal Raleigh to claim the highest total on the team.

  • Sean Burke P | CHW

White Sox's Sean Burke: Saddled with loss Friday

Burke (2-3) took the loss against the Mariners on Friday, giving up six earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four batters over 4.1 innings.

The right-hander's first bases-loaded jam resulted in just one run scoring after he hit Cole Young with a pitch in the second inning. Burke wasn't as fortunate in the third, as Luke Raley unloaded the bases with a 372-foot grand slam into right field. Chicago's offense tied the game the next half inning, but Julio Rodriguez's solo shot in the fifth put Burke back on the hook for the loss. Now sporting a 3.68 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 44 innings through his first eight starts, Burke will look to take advantage of a matchup against a low-scoring Royals offense during his next outing.

  • Mariners' Emerson Hancock: Escapes with third win

Hancock (3-1) gave up five earned runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters in six innings to earn the win Friday over the White Sox.

After Hancock gave up a home run to Munetaka Murakami in the first inning, Seattle's offense responded by giving its starter a 5-1 lead to work with entering the bottom of the third. That lead quickly disappeared courtesy of a Sam Antonacci RBI single and Colson Montgomery's three-run double. Hancock retired nine of the next 11 batters he faced and came away with the win after exiting with a 6-5 lead. Despite the offensive onslaught from the White Sox, the 26-year-old righty still boasts a strong 3.21 ERA and 1.01 WHIP through 47.2 innings.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Smacks first homer

Bazzana went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, an additional run scored and two stolen bases during Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins.

The first home run of Bazzana's young MLB career came in the first inning of Friday's contest and drove in Jose Ramirez to cap off a four-run outburst from the Guardians' offense. Although it took him only nine games to get his first big-league blast out of the way, Bazzana shouldn't be looked at as a big power threat. His value lies primarily in his ability to get on base and steal bases, as evidenced by his .368 OBP and six steals since his promotion.

  • Twins' Connor Prielipp: Takes first loss

Prielipp (1-1) took the loss Friday against the Guardians, surrendering four runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings.

Prielipp got into trouble quickly Friday, allowing the first three batters he faced to reach base. A fielding error by Luke Keaschall allowed the Guardians to put their first run on the board, Rhys Hoskins' sacrifice fly scored another and Travis Bazzana's first career home run made it a 4-0 game in the first inning. Prielipp allowed just three more batters to reach base over the next four innings, but Minnesota's comeback effort fell short. Keaschall's error allowed for just one of Cleveland's first-inning runs to count against Prielipp, giving the 25-year-old lefty four consecutive starts with no more than two earned runs allowed. He'll aim to make it five straight when he takes the mound next week against Miami.

  • Cade Smith P | CLE

Guardians' Cade Smith: Notches 11th save

Smith secured the save after giving up one earned run on two hits and striking out a batter in the ninth inning of Friday's 6-4 win over the Twins.

Smith threw 13 of his 15 pitches for strikes Friday, but a pair of singles from Byron Buxton and Austin Martin to begin the inning followed by a double-play ball off the bat of Ryan Jeffers put an earned run on Smith's ledger before the night was over. The 26-year-old's ERA is up to 3.44 through 18.1 innings, though he now sits alone atop the American League saves leaderboard with 11.

  • Guardians' Parker Messick: Fans seven in win

Messick (4-1) earned the win Friday against Minnesota, giving up one earned run on seven hits and a walk while striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings.

Messick was cruising on the mound for the majority of his start, but things took a quick turn in the sixth when he allowed five consecutive batters to record a hit. Ryan Jeffers' RBI single was the lone blemish on Messick's line, though there could have been another if Petey Halpin hadn't cut down Jeffers at the plate from center field. Messick will take an impressive 2.30 ERA and 0.98 WHIP into his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come against the Angels on Wednesday.

  • Kumar Rocker P | TEX

Rangers' Kumar Rocker: Surrenders three runs in loss

Rocker (1-4) took the loss Friday against the Cubs, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts across 3.2 innings.

Rocker again struggled, as he possesses below-average stuff with depressed velocity this season. In two starts this month, Rocker has surrendered eight runs on 11 hits, including two homers, and three walks with five strikeouts across 5.2 innings. Just two of Rocker's seven starts this season have qualified as quality outings. His ERA has swelled to 5.01 with a 27:13 K:BB across 32.1 innings. Rocker is lined up to face the Diamondbacks at home for his next start.

  • Spencer Jones CF | NYY

Yankees' Spencer Jones: Draws walk in MLB debut

Jones went 0-for-2 with a walk and two strikeouts in Friday's 6-0 loss to the Brewers.

Jones batted sixth in his major-league debut and was fanned by Jacob Misiorowski in both of his first two plate appearance before drawing a walk in the top of the fifth inning. Strikeouts have been a problem for Jones in the minors, as he struck out over 35 percent of the time at each of his minor-league stops last season before dropping that number to 32.4 percent across 142 plate appearances at Triple-A prior to his promotion. Jones will look to provide a power presence in the middle of the lineup while Giancarlo Stanton (calf) and Jasson Dominguez (shoulder) are on the shelf.
