  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Clears concussion protocol

Guerrero has cleared concussion protocol and will play a rehab game with Single-A Dunedin on Thursday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports. Guerrero went through a full on-field workout Wednesday and bounced back well, clearing the way for him to get in some at-bats in the minors Thursday. As long as he comes out of that contest with no setbacks, Vlad Jr. will be activated from the 7-day injured list when first eligible ahead of Saturday's game versus the Yankees.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Targeting return Saturday

Guerrero (concussion) will go through a full workout Wednesday and is targeting a return to the Blue Jays' active roster Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports. Guerrero landed on the 7-day concussion injured list last weekend but is on track for activation when first eligible. He went through a light workout Tuesday and will ramp up the intensity with a full workout Wednesday. Guerrero could play a rehab game with Single-A Dunedin on Thursday or Friday before returning Saturday, assuming all checks out well.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Participating in on-field workout

Guerrero (concussion) participated in a light on-field workout Tuesday that included activation drills, jogging and higher-intensity running, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. It's unclear where exactly Guerrero stands in his recovery from a concussion, but the workout Tuesday is an indication that he's making at least some progress. The 27-year-old landed on the 7-day injured list Saturday and will be eligible to return this weekend versus the Yankees, though it's unclear if he's expected to be fully cleared by that time.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Lands on concussion IL

The Blue Jays placed Guerrero on the 7-day concussion IL on Saturday, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports. Guerrero suffered the concussion after colliding with George Lombard while sliding into third base during Friday's contest. He'll now be forced to sit out until at least Aug. 22, leaving Charles McAdoo and Kazuma Okamoto as the remaining candidates to start at first base for the Blue Jays. Daz Cameron will come up from Triple-A in a corresponding move to round out Toronto's bench depth.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Idle Saturday

Guerrero (head) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees. Guerrero entered concussion protocol after coming out of Friday's contest following a head-first slide into George Lombard's knee. It remains unknown whether Guerrero will require a trip to the 7-day concussion IL, but he'll sit for at least one game. Charles McAdoo will fill in at first base and bat ninth.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Exits early Friday

Guerrero was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees with an apparent head injury, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports. Guerrero was seemingly hit in the head by George Lombard's knee while sliding into third base in the sixth inning. Guerrero managed to quickly get up and score on a throwing error, but he was wincing in pain as he jogged off the field and didn't come out on defense in the seventh. The Blue Jays will presumably evaluate him for a concussion and provide an update on his health in the near future.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Returns to action Saturday

Guerrero (hamstring) returned to action Saturday evening against the Phillies and homered in his first at-bat against Aaron Nola. Guerrero has been nursing hamstring and back issues in the midst of a terribly disappointing season. The homer Saturday night was his seventh of the season -- all on the road. With two hits in his first four plate appearances Saturday night, his slugging percentage remains paltry at .359.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Held out of lineup again Thursday

Guerrero (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cubs. Guerrero will miss a second straight start as he battles some hamstring tightness and general fatigue. He's considered day-to-day and doesn't appear to be a candidate at this point for the injured list. Kazuma Okamoto will again fill in at first base, Ernie Clement will shift to third base and Luis Urias will occupy second base for the Blue Jays.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Banged up, getting day off

Guerrero is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros, with manager John Schneider noting that the first baseman is "dealing with hamstring tightness and other stuff," Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. Schneider didn't seem to be concerned that Guerrero would miss time beyond Wednesday, as the 27-year-old's absence from the lineup looks to be a maintenance day more than anything. Though Guerrero appeared to be uncomfortable after running out a groundball in Tuesday's 7-2 loss, Schneider said after the game Guerrero was "just tight, tired" and that it was "nothing major," per Keegan Matheson of MLB.com. Kazuma Okamoto will man first base and bat second for Toronto in the series finale in Houston.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Lashes double in return

Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Friday's win over the Cardinals. With the Blue Jays down 1-0, Guerrero led off the sixth inning with a line-drive rocket off the wall in left-center field that left his bat at 112.4 mph. The 27-year-old slugger sat out Wednesday's game due to a sore hamstring, but after Thursday's off day he appears to be fully recovered. It's been a tough campaign for Guerrero, who is stuck in a 14-game homer drought and has just six long balls on the year, but Friday's hard contact offers some hope he might be able to close out the season on a high note.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Back in lineup Friday

Guerrero (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Friday's matchup against the Cardinals, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. During Thursday's day off, Guerrero tested his hitting and running to determine his availability for Friday's series opener. The 27-year-old will man first base and bat second for Toronto.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Absent from Wednesday's lineup

Guerrero (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals. Guerrero exited Tuesday's 8-6 loss in the fourth inning due to right hamstring tightness, and with the Blue Jays wrapping up their series in Washington with a day game after a night game, it's no surprise he'll be on the bench. On a positive note, manager John Schneider told Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca that Guerrero is "feeling better" compared to Tuesday and is "probably available to pinch hit," if needed. With a team off day looming Thursday, the Blue Jays may prefer to stay away from Guerrero on Wednesday with the hope that he's ready to return to the lineup in Friday's series opener against the Cardinals.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Expected to sit Wednesday

Guerrero (hamstring) is unlikely to play Wednesday against the Nationals, Ian Quillen of MLB.com reports. The Blue Jays have a scheduled day off Thursday, so Guerrero would get extra time to recover from the right hamstring tightness that caused him to exit Tuesday's loss in the fourth inning. The fact that Toronto is well out of the playoff picture provides less incentive to rush him back into the lineup as well. Kazuma Okamoto, who came off the bench to replace Guerrero on Tuesday, could slide across the diamond to fill in for him again Wednesday.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Exits with hamstring tightness

Guerrero was removed from Tuesday's game against the Nationals due to right hamstring tightness, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. The severity of Guerrero's injury is unclear, but the Blue Jays may provide an update on his status after the game. With Lenyn Sosa (wrist) on the injured list, Kazuma Okamoto would likely cover first base if Guerrero were to miss any games, clearing the way for Luis Urias to start in the infield.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Reaches base three times Saturday

Guerrero went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored during the Blue Jays' 1-0 win over the White Sox on Saturday. Neither team could get its offense going Saturday, but Guerrero helped the Blue Jays get the job done with a double in the fourth inning before being brought home on a George Springer single. Guerrero has still not hit a home run at Rogers Centre this season and is slashing .265/.349/.362 with seven steals, 41 RBI and six home runs across 395 plate appearances overall.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Still not getting results

Guerrero went 1-for-4 in Friday's loss to the White Sox. Per Mitch Bannon of The Athletic, Guerrero put three balls in play with exit velocities north of 105 mph, but he had just one single to show for it. The six-time All-Star has been teasing a turnaround in recent weeks, but through 11 games in July he sports a tepid .220/.333/.415 slash line with two doubles, two homers, six runs and seven RBI, and incredibly he's still looking for his first home run of 2026 at Rogers Centre, the Blue Jays' home park.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Smashes homer, records steal

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Saturday's 8-7 loss to the Padres. Guerrero has now homered twice over his last three contests following a 17-game power drought. This was also his first multi-hit effort since June 26 versus the Rangers. The first baseman is enduring a down year, batting .265 with a .709 OPS, six homers, 41 RBI, 51 runs scored and 14 doubles over 90 contests, though he's also at seven steals, one shy of matching his career high from 2022.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Ends power drought in rout

Guerrero went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Giants. The first baseman snapped a 17-game homer drought, launching just his fifth long ball of the season in the ninth inning off Ryan Walker. Guerrero's had a rough first half -- during that 17-game drought, he managed a weak .194/.250/.226 slash line with only two doubles and five RBI -- but Wednesday's blast could help take some of the pressure off just ahead of the All-Star break.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Leaves Friday's game with injury

Guerrero was removed from Friday's contest versus the Cubs in the sixth inning with an apparent back/side injury, Sportsnet reports. Vlad Jr. popped out on the first pitch of the top of the sixth inning and immediately grabbed at his back/left side area before jogging slowly to first base. He was removed from the game prior to the bottom of the sixth. The Blue Jays should offer more on Guerrero's condition soon. He was hitless in three plate appearances before departing.

  • Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Ends power drought Thursday

Guerrero went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's win over the Red Sox. The first baseman launched the first pitch he saw from Sonny Gray over the Green Monster in the first inning, giving the Blue Jays a quick lead in an eventual 4-3 victory. It was Guerrero's first long ball since May 17, snapping a 24-game drought, and just his fourth of the year -- a concerning total for a player who averaged 31.8 homers over the prior five seasons. There's still plenty of time left in the campaign for Guerrero to go on a tear and get his power numbers back to their usual level, and Thursday's blast might have been the first sign a summer surge is on its way.
