  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Will rest shoulder over break

Devers will skip next week's All-Star Game in order to rest a nagging left shoulder injury, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Devers missed a few games back in April after injuring the shoulder and it's evidently still caused discomfort at times. The third baseman's production has gotten better every month this season, so the injury doesn't seem to be affecting him much. He has started every game since June 11, including Tuesday's versus the Athletics. Still, Devers and the Red Sox felt it was best for him to rest up over the All-Star break. A replacement for Devers on the American League roster will be announced in the coming days.

  • Rays' Richard Lovelady: Rehab continuing at Triple-A

Lovelady's (forearm) rehab assignment was transferred to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Lovelady made his first rehab appearance Monday with the Rays' Florida Complex League affiliate, but he yielded four runs over two-thirds of an inning before being pulled. Still, he'll be bumped up to Durham to continue his rehab from a strained left forearm.

  • Rays' Drew Rasmussen: Nearing rehab assignment

Rasmussen (elbow) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Saturday and is aiming to begin a rehab assignment following the All-Star break, Steve Carney of StPeteNine.com reports.

Rasmussen underwent an internal brace procedure in his throwing elbow in July of 2023 and has been throwing off a mound since the end of May. While the 28-year-old is still a few weeks out from embarking on what's expected to be a lengthy minor-league rehab stint, Rasmussen appears to be on track to pitch for the Rays this season and could even be cleared before September.

  • Joey Loperfido LF | HOU

Astros' Joey Loperfido: Not in lineup Tuesday

Loperfido is absent from the starting nine for Tuesday's game against Miami, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Loperfido is on the bench for a second consecutive contest, giving way to Chas McCormick in right field Tuesday. Loperfido is 5-for-33 (.152) with 12 strikeouts over his last 11 games.

  • Tommy Pham DH | CHW

White Sox's Tommy Pham: Back in lineup Tuesday

Pham (mouth) will start in right field and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game versus the Twins.

Pham had to be scratched from Monday's lineup after getting some dental work done, but he's ready to roll now. The veteran outfielder will carry a modest five-game hitting streak into play Tuesday.

  • Yordan Alvarez DH | HOU

Astros' Yordan Alvarez: Returning to Houston lineup

Alvarez (knee) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Tuesday's game versus the Marlins.

Alvarez had to depart Saturday's game versus the Twins after being hit on the right knee by a pitch and then sat out Sunday's contest. However, he's feeling well enough following the Astros' off day Monday to give it a go for the series opener against the Marlins.

  • Brooks Lee 3B | MIN

    Twins' Brooks Lee: Getting breather

Lee is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Lee has started in six straight games since being called up June 3 and has gone 11-for-24 at the plate during that stretch. He'll get the day off Tuesday, as the Twins move Jose Miranda to third base and have Matt Wallner DH.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Yankees' Gleyber Torres: Rejoining lineup Tuesday

Torres (groin) is starting at second base and batting fifth Tuesday against the Rays.

Torres hasn't seen the field since Friday while batting groin soreness, but he's back in the starting nine for Tuesday's series opener in Tampa Bay. The 27-year-old batted .308 with a double and a homer in the seven games preceding the brief absence.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Twins' Kyle Farmer: Still out of lineup

Farmer (finger) isn't part of the starting nine for Tuesday's game against The White Sox.

Farmer has primarily been a short-side platoon player for Minnesota this season, so his absence from the lineup on back-to-back nights with the Twins facing a right-handed pitcher isn't exactly out of the ordinary. However, Farmer exited Sunday's game against Houston after being hit by a pitch on his finger. Considering X-rays on his index finger came back negative, Farmer likely isn't dealing with anything more than bruising and soreness. The infielder could be back in the lineup as soon as Wednesday, with southpaw Drew Thorpe slated to start for Chicago.

  • Tigers' Sawyer Gipson-Long: Undergoes hip surgery

Gipson-Long (elbow) underwent left hip labral repair surgery Tuesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Gipson-Long was already done for the season after having Tommy John surgery in April and he now has an additional operation to come back from. The hip surgery shouldn't alter his timeline, although the hurler will likely be out until around midseason in 2025.
