Buxton will get a night off after making four consecutive starts, giving way to Manuel Margot in center field Tuesday. Buxton is riding a six-game hit streak and has five doubles and a home run during that span.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

    Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Idle Tuesday

Jeffers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the White Sox.

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Absent from starting nine

Rocchio is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Tigers.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Starting rehab assignment

Moncada (adductor) will begin a rehab assignment with the White Sox' Arizona Complex League affiliate Tuesday, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

It will be his first game action in three months, as Moncada has been slowly working his way back from an adductor strain. Given the long layoff, he will surely require several rehab games before returning to Chicago's active roster. A return before the end of the month for Moncada should be doable.

  • Bo Naylor C | MIL

Guardians' Bo Naylor: Not in lineup against RHP

Naylor is absent from the starting lineup Tuesday at Detroit.

Despite Kenta Maeda taking the mound for the Tigers, the lefty-hitting Naylor will yield to Austin Hedges behind the dish Tuesday. Naylor is 6-for-29 (.206) with eight strikeouts during his last nine games.

  • David Fry LF | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Taking seat Tuesday

Fry is absent from the starting nine for the second time in three games, ceding DH duties to Steven Kwan on Tuesday while Angel Martinez plays left field. Fry is slashing .300/.406/.500 with eight home runs across 229 plate appearances this season.

  • Michel Otanez RP | TEX

Athletics' Michel Otanez: Summoned from Triple-A

The Athletics recalled Otanez from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Otanez will provide a temporary reinforcement for Oakland's bullpen due to Hogan Harris being placed on the paternity list. Otanez has made one MLB appearance this season, throwing two-thirds of a scoreless inning against the Padres on June 10. He has a 5.35 ERA across 37.0 innings with Las Vegas.

  • Hogan Harris RP | ATH

Athletics' Hogan Harris: Goes on paternity leave

The Athletics placed Harris on the paternity leave list Tuesday.

By rule, Harris will miss one game and as many as three games while he welcomes a new baby to the family. He had tentatively been lined up to start Thursday in Boston, but the Athletics should be able to just push him back a day or two -- if need be -- without disrupting the rotation much.

  • Red Sox's Naoyuki Uwasawa: Departs 40-man roster

The Red Sox designated Uwasawa for assignment Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Uwasawa will yield his spot on the 40-man roster to Trey Wingenter, who was acquired Saturday via trade and is getting called up by Boston. Uwasawa registered a 6.54 ERA in 42.2 innings at Triple-A Worcester this season. Assuming he clears waivers, the 30-year-old should remain in the Red Sox organization.

  • Red Sox's Enmanuel Valdez: Sent down to minors

The Red Sox optioned Valdez to Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Valdez had been seeing a good number of reps at second base, but the Red Sox have elected to replace him with the more versatile and right-handed hitting Jamie Westbrook. With Valdez now in the minors, David Hamilton's playing time should be on the upswing.
