Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA
White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Won't be rushed back
The White Sox are being cautious in their plans for Moncada's (thigh) return, MLB.com reports.
Moncada has gone 8-for-15 across five games with the Arizona Complex League club but has had mixed results in terms of his recovery, per manager Pedro Grifol. The team has consistently stated they will be cautious with Moncada, so he could engage in a lengthy rehab assignment.

Jeffrey Springs SP | ATH
Rays' Jeffrey Springs: Set for another rehab start
Springs (elbow) is expected to cover five innings in his next rehab start with Triple-A Durham during the upcoming week, MLB.com reports.
Springs will require at least one more tune-up outing in the minors after he most recently made the 10th start of his rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Durham. He struck out three over three innings and gave up two earned runs on four hits and one walk, tossing just 48 pitches after a rain delay cut his start short. Per MLB.com, the Rays are evaluating Springs' readiness to return from the 60-day injured list on a start-to-start basis, but if he's able to cover five innings efficiently in his upcoming outing with Durham, he could get the green light to make his 2024 debut with the big club. The Rays already have a rotation spot available for the taking with Ryan Pepiot (knee) landing on the 15-day IL on Sunday.

Pete Fairbanks RP | MIA
Rays' Pete Fairbanks: Collects 18th save
Fairbanks picked up the save Sunday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over one inning against the Yankees. He struck out one.
Fairbanks entered the ninth with a three-run lead, but a walk and a Juan Soto RBI double led to Aaron Judge coming to the plate as the tying run. Fairbanks then induced Judge to fly out and struck out Austin Wells to end the threat, closing out his 18th game of the season. It was the third time in his last five appearances Fairbanks has allowed an earned run, though he's earned a save in each of those five outings.

Dominic Leone RP | CHW
White Sox's Dominic Leone: Nearing rehab assignment
Leone (elbow) has begun the ramp-up process and could begin a rehab assignment during the week of July 22, MLB.com reports.
Leone has been sidelined since May 24 and has managed only 15.1 total innings this season. He should require only a couple of rehab appearances before rejoining the White Sox's bullpen.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Yankees' Marcus Stroman: Saddled with fifth loss
Stroman (7-5) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits over 5.1 innings against the Rays. He struck out five.
Stroman allowed a couple of solo homers but was otherwise efficient during Sunday's outing. He's struggled with both the long ball and walks this year, but while Stroman upped his home runs allowed to 17, he didn't allow a free pass for the first time all season after entering the contest with a 4.0 BB/9. Stroman has particularly struggled since the start of June with only one quality start and a 5.04 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over eight starts spanning 41 innings. He's scheduled to take the hill again next weekend when the Yankees head to Boston to take on their bitter rivals.

Tyler Locklear 1B | ARI
Mariners' Tyler Locklear: Taking over as top first baseman
The Mariners are expected to recall Locklear from Triple-A Tacoma this week to take over as the club's everyday first baseman, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
Seattle is pulling the plug on incumbent first baseman Ty France, who was placed on irrevocable outright waivers Sunday. The Mariners may have to wait until France is claimed or clears waivers before adding Locklear to the roster in a corresponding move, so it's not immediately clear if Locklear will be available for Monday's series opener versus the Angels. In any case, Locklear will be back in the big leagues soon, and he should have a decent amount of leash in an everyday role as the Mariners look to him to provide a spark to a dormant offense. Locklear owns an .887 OPS over 334 plate appearances on the season between Tacoma and Double-A Arkansas and slashed .200/.250/.433 in 32 plate appearances with the Mariners during his first stint in the big leagues back in June.

Kenley Jansen RP | DET
Red Sox's Kenley Jansen: Not traveling to Colorado
Jansen said that Sunday that he won't travel with the Red Sox to Colorado for the club's three-game series with the Rockies this week due to his pre-existing heart condition, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Jansen has dealt with atrial fibrillation throughout his career and will remain in Boston when the Red Sox kick off their series in Denver on Monday. The altitude is perceived to be a risk for the team's closer, so he'll get a few days off. Boston is expected to operate with only 25 players on their major-league roster for the series, and in Jansen's absence, Brennan Bernardino and Zack Kelly could be candidates to scoop up any save chances that might come about.
-
John Brebbia RP | COL
White Sox's John Brebbia: Implodes to take loss
Brebbia (0-5) allowed three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out two to take the loss Sunday against the Royals.
Brebbia began the season in poor form but entered Sunday's game having maintained a 1.40 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with a 28:4 K:BB across his past 19.1 innings. He has been one of the White Sox's top setup men in that span and has racked up eight holds. Michael Kopech appears to have a grip on the closer role for the team, but setting aside Sunday's tough outing, Brebbia has proven to be a reliable high-leverage option.
-
Shane Baz SP | BAL
Rays' Shane Baz: Five walks lead to early exit
Baz did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Yankees, allowing no runs on four hits and five walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.
On the plus side, Baz was able to keep the Yankees off the board during his first scoreless outing in three starts this season. However, he recorded only 10 outs while allowing nine batters to reach base, issuing a career-high five bases on balls. Baz has a pedigree for success as a former highly touted prospect, and he pitched well in Triple-A prior to his July 5 call-up, posting a 1.57 ERA with 35 strikeouts across 23 innings. His next start is tentatively slated to take place next weekend when the Rays host the Reds.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Still running hot
Buxton went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs Sunday against the Brewers.
Buxton collected his second multi-homer game this season, raising his season total to 11, with eight of those coming over the last 27 games. During that stretch, Buxton is slashing .378/.426/.755 with 20 extra-base hits, 24 RBI, 26 runs and two steals over 108 plate appearances.
