Mike Trout CF | LAA
Angels' Mike Trout: Returning to L.A. for evaluation
The Angels announced Wednesday that Trout (knee) has been pulled off his rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake and will return to Southern California to undergo further evaluation.
Trout was removed from his first rehab game with Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday after experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired left knee. Angels manager Ron Washington expressed hope earlier that Trout would be able to serve as Salt Lake's designated hitter Wednesday, but the 32-year-old will instead be looked at by team doctors as the Halos look to determine the severity of his latest setback. Trout has been looking to return from the IL before the end of July, though the chances of that happening appear to be shrinking.

Korey Lee C | CHW
White Sox's Korey Lee: Getting Wednesday off
Lee is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.
Chuckie Robinson will receive the starting nod behind the plate after Lee caught both of the White Sox's last three games and five of the past six contests. The night off might do Lee some good; the 25-year-old backstop is slashing .135/.135/.270 with no walks and a 35.1 percent strikeout rate since the beginning of July.

Trent Grisham CF | NYY
Yankees' Trent Grisham: Out again vs. LHP
Grisham is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Though he's settled into a near-everyday role in the Yankees outfield since Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) was placed on the injured list June 23, the lefty-hitting Grisham is still being shielded from lefties. He's logged just 27 plate appearances against southpaws this season, slashing .200/.259/.240 (47 wRC+). After sitting against Mets lefty Jose Quintana in Tuesday's 3-2 loss, Grisham will remain on the bench against southpaw Sean Manaea in the series finale.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Suffers forearm contusion
The Twins announced Buxton was removed from Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Phillies with a right forearm contusion. He went 1-for-3 with a double before exiting after seven innings.
Buxton was struck by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh, and though he was able to take his base, he was pulled from the contest when the Twins went out to play defense in the top of the eighth. Fortunately for Buxton, preliminary X-rays revealed no fracture to his forearm, so he can be viewed as day-to-day heading into the Twins' upcoming series with the Tigers that begins Friday.

Hunter Renfroe RF | KC
Royals' Hunter Renfroe: Checks out of lineup
Renfroe is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Diamondbacks.
Renfroe started the first two games of the series, slugging a home run Monday and drawing a couple walks Tuesday. He'll begin Wednesday's contest on the bench while Drew Waters draws a start in right field.

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Exits game following hit-by-pitch
Buxton was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Phillies after being hit by a pitch on the right forearm, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
An Orion Kerkering offering in the bottom of the seventh struck Buxton on the forearm. He initially stayed in to run the bases but was replaced in center field before the top of the eighth. He went 1-for-3 with a double and two strikeouts before departing.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Taking seat Wednesday
Mountcastle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
After going 0-for-8 with three strikeouts in the Orioles' series with the Rangers over the weekend, Mountcastle bounced back with a pair of hits in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to Miami. He'll cede a start at first base to Ryan O'Hearn on Wednesday, but Mountcastle's spot in the Orioles' everyday lineup still appears fairly secure.

Justyn-Henry Malloy 3B | TB
Tigers' Justyn-Henry Malloy: Absent from lineup
Malloy isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cleveland, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Malloy had started each of the last four contests and batted no lower than third during that time, but he will begin Wednesday's game on the bench. Riley Greene will serve as the Tigers' designated hitter while Malloy sits.
-
Jorge Mateo SS | TB
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Taking seat Wednesday
Mateo (elbow) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Mateo will head to the bench after he was forced out of Tuesday's 6-3 loss with left elbow pain, an injury that stemmed from a collision in the field with teammate Gunnar Henderson. The Orioles sent Mateo in for an MRI and seem to be viewing him as day-to-day, but a trip to the injured list could still be in the cards for the 29-year-old. Baltimore added infielder Connor Norby to its taxi squad Wednesday and could formally call him up from Triple-A Norfolk if Mateo needs to go on the IL.

Ramon Urias 3B | STL
Orioles' Ramon Urias: Back in starting nine Wednesday
Urias (neck) will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Urias didn't start either of the Orioles' last two games while managing a stiff neck, but he came off the bench in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to replace Jorge Mateo (arm) and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. Mateo is out of the lineup Wednesday, so Urias will step back into the starting nine to fill the final spot in the Baltimore infield.
