MJ Melendez DH | NYM
Royals' MJ Melendez: Idle against RHP
Melendez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates.
Even with right-hander Luis Ortiz taking the mound for Pittsburgh, the lefty-hitting Melendez will retreat to the bench. It'll be Melendez's first time out of the lineup against a right-handed starter since Aug. 4. Tommy Pham, Kyle Isbel and Hunter Renfroe fill the outfield from left to right.

Ben Lively SP | CLE
Guardians' Ben Lively: Confirmed for Sunday
The Guardians list Lively (thigh) as their scheduled starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Rays.
He exited his start Tuesday against the White Sox after taking a comebacker off his right thigh in the second inning, but he escaped with little more than a bruise and has shown enough improvement to make his next start on normal rest. Prior to his early exit Tuesday, Lively had failed to log five innings in three of his previous five starts. He had a 6.20 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 24.2 innings over that stretch.

Collin Snider RP | CHC
Mariners' Collin Snider: Takes third loss Thursday
Snider (3-3) took the loss against the Rangers on Thursday, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits over two-thirds of an inning.
Snider was entrusted with protecting a 4-2 lead when he entered in the seventh inning, but he allowed a one-out solo home run to Marcus Semien and was charged with two further unearned runs due to a Luke Raley error. Snider saw a six-appearance scoreless streak snapped, while the loss was his first since Aug. 14. The right-hander has been one of the most trusted members of the Mariners' bullpen since coming up for good in late June, as he's carrying a 1.49 ERA across 36.1 innings.

Luke Raley RF | SEA
Mariners' Luke Raley: Hits double-digit steal mark
Raley went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
Raley's day at the plate was uneventful, but after getting on via a fielder's choice in the fifth inning, he recorded his 10th stolen base of the season by swiping second. Raley has reached double-digit steals in consecutive campaigns, and he carries a .296 batting average and 1.054 OPS across the 31 plate appearances covering his last seven games.

Randy Arozarena LF | SEA
Mariners' Randy Arozarena: Plates pair with timely knock
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a two-run single in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
Arozarena snapped a 1-1 tie with his timely fifth-inning single, which plated Victor Robles and Julio Rodriguez. The knock locked in Arozarena's third two-RBI tally of the last seven games, a stretch in which he's generated a .276 batting average and .773 OPS, along with a .375 average with men on base. The slugger has also hit safely in six of those contests, but he's still carrying a career-low .219 batting average on the season.

Manuel Rodriguez RP | TB
Rays' Manuel Rodriguez: Not getting save chances
Rodriguez allowed one hit and struck out two across a scoreless inning to record a hold Thursday against the Guardians.
The right-hander has seen plenty of high-leverage usage since rejoining the Rays bullpen just before the All-Star break, so he was viewed as a logical candidate to get save chances when Pete Fairbanks (lat) hit the injured list. However, Rodriguez hasn't gotten a save chance in his last seven appearances, while Thursday's hold was his first in that span. He's pitched well since Fairbanks was sidelined, posting a 2.53 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB over his last 10.2 innings, but manager Kevin Cash's matchup-based approach seems to have cut Rodriguez out of the closer mix.

Justin Turner DH | CHC
Mariners' Justin Turner: Lifts 10th homer Thursday
Turner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.
The veteran turned on a Kumar Rocker offering in the fourth inning and sent it 401 feet to center field for his 10th home run of the season, and the Mariners' first run of the game. Turner has reached base safely in eight consecutive contests and in 12 straight starts overall, mustering a .279/.407/.535 slash line with five extra-base hits, five RBI, 10 runs and a modest 13.0 percent strikeout rate over his last 54 plate appearances.

T.J. McFarland RP | ATH
Athletics' T.J. McFarland: Hit with third loss Thursday
McFarland (2-3) took the loss against the Astros on Thursday, allowing two earned runs on two hits over one-third of an inning. He did not walk or strike out a batter.
McFarland took the mound in a 2-2 tie after Mitch Spence's seven-inning quality start, but the veteran southpaw allowed back-to-back singles with one out and saw both runners cross the plate after he got the hook. McFarland last allowed an earned run Aug. 28, and despite Thursday's stumble, he carries a 3.78 ERA and 1.22 WHIP across a career-high 72 appearances (52.1 innings).

Jacob Wilson SS | ATH
Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Multi-hit effort in loss
Wilson went 2-for-4 with a double and a run in a loss to the Astros on Thursday.
The rookie contributed only his second multi-hit effort since returning from the injured list Aug. 27, extending his hitting streak to six games in the process. Wilson has been making constant contact during that stretch, mustering a .333 batting average with a tiny 7.7 percent strikeout rate across 26 plate appearances.
