Holliday is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cubs. Holliday went 4-for-4 at the plate in Wednesday's loss to the Cubs, but the lefty-hitting infielder will take a seat as Chicago sends southpaw David Peterson to the bump. Blaze Alexander is handling second base for the Orioles.

Holliday (groin) is batting eight and playing second base Friday against the Nationals, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. Holliday is back in the starting lineup after opening the previous four games on the bench, though he was able to appear as a pinch hitter Wednesday against the Angels. Since making his season debut May 19, Holliday is slashing .198/.283/.384 with four homers, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored, three stolen bases and an 11:30 BB:K across 99 trips to the dish.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Appears as pinch hitter

Holliday (groin) struck out in his lone at-bat during Wednesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Angels. The Orioles held Holliday out of the lineup for four consecutive games to manage his groin soreness, but the middle infielder was able to make his first appearance since Saturday's win over the Dodgers, serving as a pinch hitter Wednesday. Baltimore has a team day off Thursday, so Holliday has an extra day to recuperate ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Nationals.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Remaining on bench Wednesday

Holliday (groin) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. The Orioles will keep Holliday on the bench for a fourth consecutive contest while he tends to a sore groin. Per MLB.com, Holliday was able to go through pregame work Monday and Tuesday, so the Orioles are seemingly viewing him as day-to-day with the hope that he'll be ready to return to the lineup during this weekend's series against the Nationals following Thursday's team off day.

Holliday (groin) is feeling better and will go through pregame work ahead of Monday's game against the Angels, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. The 22-year-old will look to get back in the starting lineup Tuesday night against Angels starter Ryan Johnson.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Sitting out with tight groin Sunday

Holliday (groin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. Holliday will miss out at least one start after he was lifted in the eighth inning of Saturday's 3-2 win due to groin tightness, though he said that he's not overly concerned about the injury and thinks that he could play off the bench Sunday if needed, per Jake Rill of MLB.com. Jeremiah Jackson came on the replace him Saturday and will draw the start at second base in Holliday's stead in the series finale.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Managing tight groin

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said that Holliday was removed in the bottom of the eighth inning of Saturday's 3-2 win over the Dodgers due to groin tightness, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Holliday went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts prior to his departure. Albernaz said that he pulled Holliday from the game because he didn't want the groin issue to worsen, but the skipper didn't provide a firm indication whether he expects the infielder to miss additional time. Jeremiah Jackson came off the bench to replace Holliday in the field Saturday, and Jackson and Blaze Alexander would represent the main candidates to pick up playing time at the keystone if Holliday requires a stint on the IL.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Pops solo shot in win

Holliday went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mariners. Holliday had gone 0-for-12 with six strikeouts over his previous four games. He was well on his way to another poor performance before his ninth-inning homer. The infielder hasn't logged a multi-hit effort since May 29 versus the Blue Jays, but he continues to see a starting role at second base. Holliday is batting .195 with a .671 OPS, four homers, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored, one double, one triple and three stolen bases over 26 contests.

It was Holliday's second home run of the season and third multi-hit game. • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Idle for first game of day

Holliday is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. The Orioles have now held the left-handed-hitting Holliday out of the lineup for all three of their matchups with left-handed starting pitchers since he returned from the injured list Monday. Holliday should eventually see more chances against southpaws once he's further removed from the hand injury that has kept him on the shelf for most of the season, but Jeremiah Jackson will get the nod at second base in the first game of the day while the Orioles face off against Framber Valdez.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Batting seventh in season debut

Holliday will start at second base and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Rays. Holliday will be making his season debut for the Orioles after undergoing surgery in February to repair a fractured right hamate bone and then encountering multiple setbacks along the way. Per Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com, Holliday said he still feels a bit of soreness in his hand, but he's been told that it's not a concern and will eventually go away. Holliday was the Orioles' leadoff hitter for the bulk of last season, but he will slide into the No. 7 spot as the club eases him back into the mix. The 22-year-old slashed just .176/.291/.284 on his rehab assignment, though he reached base seven times and had one home run in his final four rehab games.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Activated, but not in lineup Monday

The Orioles activated Holliday (hand) from the 10-day injured list Monday. Holliday is not in the lineup for Monday's series opener in Tampa Bay, but he will be available off the bench and should be back in the starting lineup Tuesday. The young infielder encountered multiple setbacks in his rehab from right hamate surgery, but his most recent rehab stint went off without a hitch, clearing the way for his activation. Holliday played some third base in addition to second base on his rehab assignment, but while he could see some reps at the hot corner, the bulk of his playing time still figures to come at the keystone.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Getting rehab reps at hot corner

Holliday (hand) will play at third base in a rehab game with Double-A Chesapeake on Sunday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Orioles manager Craig Albernaz clarified Saturday that it won't be a permanent move to third base for Holliday, but it does give the big club some flexibility in the infield. Holliday resumed his rehab assignment Thursday and has gone 0-for-4 with three walks, two strikeouts and a run scored in his last two games in Double-A.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Cleared to resume rehab assignment

The Orioles sent Holliday (hand) to Double-A Chesapeake on Thursday to resume a rehab assignment. Holliday has encountered multiple bumps in the road while coming back from right hamate bone surgery, having been pulled off a rehab assignment on two occasions with soreness and slashing only .176/.250/.235 in 14 games. He's ready to give it another try and should rejoin the Orioles' active roster at some point later this month if can avoid another setback.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: No timetable for return to games

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz noted Tuesday that he's not sure when Holliday (hand) will be ready to play in games again, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Holliday has had to be pulled off a rehab assignment twice due to nagging soreness in his surgically repaired right hand. He went through a battery of tests that came back negative but is currently limited to fielding grounders. Expect the Orioles to proceed cautiously with Holliday so as to avoid another setback.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Imaging returns clean

Holliday (wrist) said Friday that he underwent an MRI, CT scan and X-rays that came back clean and will be shut down from baseball activities for about a week, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports. It's encouraging news for the 22-year-old second baseman after he exited Tuesday's rehab game with Triple-A Norfolk due to right hand discomfort, which is the same hand in which he underwent surgery for a fractured hamate bone in February. The shutdown period and subsequent rehab assignment will likely extend Holliday's absence at least another few weeks, but he at least seems to have avoided a serious setback.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Leaves rehab with hand discomfort

Holliday (wrist) exited Tuesday's rehab game at Triple-A Norfolk with right hand discomfort, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. It's the same hand Holliday fractured his hamate bone, necessitating this rehab assignment. Holliday struck out on a foul tip in the first inning and was pulled from the game following the frame. It's the second time in the last week that Holliday has experienced right hand/wrist soreness, and he just resumed his rehab assignment this past weekend. With another setback, it would be a surprise if Holliday rejoined the Orioles before the end of April. Jeremiah Jackson and Blaze Alexander will continue to see increased playing time at second base for Baltimore.
