  • Kyle Tucker RF | LAD

Astros' Kyle Tucker: Late scratch due to rain

Tucker was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Guardians while it was in a rain delay, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The game had been delayed for almost an hour when the team submitted a new lineup without Tucker, Jose Altuve or Alex Bregman, as the Astros opted to not risk one of their veterans getting injured in subpar conditions ahead of the playoffs.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Scratched amid rain delay

Altuve was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Guardians while it was in a rain delay, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

The game had been delayed for almost an hour when the team submitted a new lineup without Altuve, Kyle Tucker or Alex Bregman, as the Astros opted to not risk one of their veterans getting injured in subpar conditions ahead of the playoffs.

  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Sitting out finale

Chisholm is not in Sunday's lineup against the Pirates.

The Yankees are resting Juan Soto and Aaron Judge as well. Chisholm is 5-for-12 with one home run, two doubles and two steals over his last three games, giving him plenty of momentum heading into the playoffs.

  • Aaron Judge RF | NYY

    Yankees' Aaron Judge: Scratched Sunday

Judge was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Pirates.

Given that Juan Soto and Jazz Chisholm are also off, it sounds like the Yankees just opted to rest their star slugger at the last minute. The game was delayed due to inclement weather, so it makes sense to not have Judge out there in poor conditions. Judge went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts Saturday.

  • Adolis Garcia RF | PHI

Rangers' Adolis Garcia: Out with knee injury

Garcia (knee) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Angels.

Given that he left Saturday's game with a knee injury and the Rangers have nothing to play for, it's not surprising Garcia will sit out the finale. Dustin Harris gets the start at designated hitter, batting eighth.

  • Logan O'Hoppe DH | TEX

    Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Sitting Sunday

O'Hoppe is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rangers.

Matt Thaiss will start behind the dish in O'Hoppe's place, batting sixth. O'Hoppe ended the season on a high note, batting .478 (11-for-23) with three doubles and a homer over his last six games.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sitting out again Sunday

Schanuel (leg) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rangers.

The Angels will rest their ailing regulars in favor of some less proven prospects for the season finale. Niko Kavadas draws the start at first base in Schanuel's place.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Still out Sunday

Neto (shoulder) is not in Sunday's lineup against the Rangers.

Manager Ron Washington said Friday that Neto could be back Saturday and Sunday, but the shortstop will end up missing the final series. Neto broke out this year with 23 homers and 30 steals in 155 games while slashing .249/.318/.443.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Out again for finale

Buxton is not in Sunday's lineup against the Orioles.

Buxton also sat out Saturday after the Twins' playoff hopes were dashed. He played in more games (105) this season than he has since he played a career-high 140 games in 2017. Buxton has a no-trade clause, so he'll be back to patrol center field in 2025.

  • Willi Castro 2B | COL

    Twins' Willi Castro: Sitting Sunday

Castro is not in Sunday's lineup against the Orioles.

Castro hit .200 with one home run and two steals over 75 at-bats in September. Austin Martin is starting in left field and batting second.
