O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

O'Hoppe is 0-for-4 with four strikeouts in his past two games and will head to the bench for Tuesday's contest. Travis d'Arnaud will step in behind the plate to catch for veteran righty Kyle Hendricks.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Lucas is "Plan A" to start Wednesday versus the Nationals, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

As long as he isn't needed in relief Tuesday, Lucas will take the ball Wednesday in what would be his first major-league start. He's filling the spot that opened up when Max Scherzer (thumb) was placed on the injured list, and the lefty could be needed for additional starts while Scherzer recovers. Lucas built up to 2.2 innings and 42 pitches during spring training, so he might struggle to work deep enough into Tuesday's contest to qualify for a win.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Tuesday that Gausman's next start is likely to come Friday against the Mets, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Easton Lucas is tentatively lined up to start Wednesday against the Nationals in place of Max Scherzer (thumb), as long as Lucas not needed in relief Tuesday. Gausman would be pitching on seven days' rest if he does indeed take the ball Friday.

Scherzer has been given a cortisone injection in his injured right thumb, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The hope is that the injection will help reduce inflammation and discomfort in the thumb. Scherzer was placed on the 15-day injured list over the weekend, and when he will resume throwing will be determined based on how the thumb responds to rest and the injection.

Meyers is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Giants, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Meyers collected two hits in the season opener but is 0-for-6 with four strikeouts across the past three games. Chas McCormick will take over in center field and bat ninth.

Pasquantino is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Milwaukee.

Pasquantino started each of the Royals' first four games of the season, although he's been limited to designated hitter duty as he comes back from a hamstring injury. MJ Melendez will be the club's DH on Tuesday, while Cavan Biggio will cover first base.

Neto (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

It's not yet clear whether he will immediately play shortstop or be eased into action at designated hitter. Neto is working his way back from right shoulder surgery and could be ready to rejoin the Angels soon, although there's no known target date yet. Kevin Newman has been filling in as the Angels' primary shortstop.

Morel is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Morel has gone 3-for-9 with two walks, an RBI, two runs and four strikeouts through four games this season and will sit Tuesday against Pittsburgh righty Thomas Harrington. Kameron Misner and Jake Mangum will start in left and right field, respectively.

Adell (hip) is starting in center field and batting eighth Tuesday against the Cardinals.

The 25-year-old sat out the past two games after departing Saturday's contest due to hip tightness, but he's ready to rejoin the starting nine Tuesday. Prior to suffering the injury during the second game of the season, Adell had gone 2-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout to start the year.

Schmidt (shoulder) threw 46 pitches over a three-inning simulated game Monday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Schmidt will throw again Saturday, although it's not clear yet in what capacity. The right-hander is working his way back from rotator cuff tendinitis and is tracking toward a season debut in mid-April.
