The Red Sox designated Stock for assignment Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

The right-hander was selected to Boston's 40-man roster and pitched against the Blue Jays on Monday, giving up one run on three hits and a walk over two innings. Stock could return to Triple-A Worcester if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

The Red Sox recalled Winckowski from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Winckowski will provide the bullpen with some length. The 26-year-old posted a 4.14 ERA and 60:26 K:BB over 76 innings covering six starts and 34 relief appearances with Boston last season.

The Red Sox recalled Sabol from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Sabol will be No. 2 behind Carlos Narvaez on Boston's catching depth chart while Connor Wong (finger) is out. The 27-year-old has slashed .243/.313/.392 over 121 career games at the major-league level.

The Red Sox placed Wong on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a fractured left finger, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

Wong suffered the injury Monday versus the Blue Jays when his hand was hit by a bat on a catcher's interference. It's not yet clear how long he will be sidelined, but it will surely be more than a minimum stay on the IL. Carlos Narvaez will be Boston's primary catcher while Wong is out and Blake Sabol has been recalled to back Narvaez up.

White Sox manager Will Venable said Benintendi will undergo further tests on his injured adductor Tuesday, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Benintendi exited Sunday's game against the Tigers early due to adductor tightness. The White Sox had the day off Monday, and Benintendi remains out of the lineup for Tuesday afternoon's date with the Guardians. Venable said Benintendi doesn't feel as good as the team had hoped at this point, necessitating further evaluation. Brooks Baldwin is making the start in left field for Tuesday's series opener. Through 33 plate appearances to begin the season, Benintendi is slashing .290/.333/.484 with two home runs, six RBI and five runs scored.

McCullers (forearm) covered 1.2 innings in his rehab start Saturday with Double-A Corpus Christi, striking out one batter while allowing four runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks.

McCullers made the second start of his rehab assignment after covering two innings for Triple-A Sugar Land on March 30. Though his command and control left much to be desired Saturday, McCullers was still able to build up to 50 pitches after tossing 35 in his previous outing. He'll make his next appearance for Triple-A Sugar Land this Saturday and may require just one additional rehab outing after that before the Astros potentially bring him back from the 15-day injured list. Houston could look to McCullers to fill the opening in the rotation created by the loss of Spencer Arrighetti, who appears headed for an extended absence after fracturing his right thumb Monday.

Abreu is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

The Red Sox are facing a lefty (Easton Lucas) for just the second time this season and Abreu has been out of the lineup on both occasions. Rob Refsnyder is handling right field and batting cleanup in the second game of the series.

Casas is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

The left-handed hitting Casas is getting a day off as the Blue Jays send left-hander Easton Lucas to the hill. Romy Gonzalez will start at first base and bat seventh for the Red Sox. Boston has faced two left-handed starters this season, and Casas was held out of the starting lineup in both games.

Forret struck out five while allowing two hits and two walks across 4.2 scoreless innings in his season debut for High-A Aberdeen on Saturday.

There was an incorrect report that Forret was headed to Double-A, but he still needs to put in more work at the High-A level. Forret had a 4.35 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 75:29 K:BB in 60 innings at High-A last year.

The White Sox re-signed Drury (thumb) to a minor-league contract Tuesday.

Drury was released by the White Sox late in spring training after suffering a fractured left thumb but is now back in the organization. He's been assigned to extended spring training for now as he continues to rehab but should eventually move up to Triple-A Charlotte. Drury has a good shot to eventually be added to the major-league roster if he gets off to a good start.
