Kurtz (hip) will embark on a rehab assignment Saturday with Single-A Stockton, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Kurtz was placed on the 10-day injured list May 25 due to a strained left hip flexor. He's expected to be activated off the IL ahead of Monday's game against the Angels, but he'll test his hip in Single-A before returning to the majors. Kurtz went 7-for-17 with four home runs and nine RBI in the five games prior to his injury.

Henderson isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Athletics, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Henderson will get a breather during Friday's series opener after going 3-for-13 with a homer and five strikeouts during Baltimore's last series against the Mariners. Jorge Mateo will fill the vacancy at shortstop and bat ninth.

Vierling received an injection in his right shoulder Thursday and is expected to resume baseball activities within the next couple of days, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Vierling started the season on the 10-day injured list after straining his right rotator cuff in late February. He returned to major-league action May 23, but after just four games he was back on the IL due to right shoulder inflammation. Vierling is close to resuming baseball activities, and how his shoulder reacts to more work will provide the Tigers a better timeline for the 28-year-old's return.

Burr (shoulder) has resumed playing catch, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reported Friday.

Burr had a cortisone injection in his right shoulder May 29 and has resumed playing catch after being shut down from throwing for a stretch. The 31-year-old hasn't made his 2025 MLB debut.

Garcia (shoulder) has resumed playing catch, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reported Friday.

Garcia received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder May 26, and after a brief shutdown, he's started playing catch. Garcia is recovering from a shoulder impingement and logged a 3.15 ERA with a 24:10 K:BB over 20 innings prior to suffering the injury.

Varsho (hamstring) is hitting in the batting cages and playing catch, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reported Friday.

Varsho suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain Saturday and was given a week-to-week recovery timeline. While it's encouraging to see he's begun baseball activities, Varsho hasn't been cleared to run quite yet.

Smith was scratched from the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians due to illness, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Smith was slated to bat seventh and play right field, but he's feeling under the weather and has been removed from the starting lineup. In his place, Jacob Melton will bat ninth and patrol right field.

Weaver received a PRP injection in his left hamstring and has resumed a throwing program, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Weaver was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday and was given a 4-to-6 week return timeline. However, he's already back to throwing and received a PRP injection, which is encouraging for his recovery.

Castro isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against Toronto.

Castro will get a chance to rest Friday after going 5-for-15 with two homers during the Twins' previous series against the Athletics. Kody Clemens will start at second base in his absence, and Harrison Bader, Byron Buxton and Matt Wallner will patrol the outfield.

Naylor is not in Cleveland's starting lineup against Houston on Friday.

Naylor will get a breather in the midst of a mini-slump, having gone 1-for-23 with 11 strikeouts over his last eight games. With Austin Hedges (concussion) on the 7-day injured list, Dom Nunez will start behind home plate and bat ninth.
