  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: On bench Sunday

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. The utility man occasionally starts versus lefties but will hit the bench against southpaw Ranger Suarez. After posting a .955 OPS with four homers and two steals over the first month of the campaign, Schneemann has scuffled at the plate in May with a .149/.241/.176 slash line in 22 contests.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Out of Monday's lineup

Schneemann is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals. The left-handed-hitting Schneemann will begin the contest on the bench as the Nationals roll with lefty PJ Poulin as their opener and righty Zack Littell as their bulk reliever. With Schneemann resting, the Guardians will start Angel Martinez, Steven Kwan and Chase DeLauter in their outfield and Rhys Hoskins at designated hitter.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Hitting bench against southpaw

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers. Lefty Framber Valdez is on the bump for the Tigers in Monday's series opener, so the Guardians will opt to give the left-handed-hitting Schneemann a day off while he's struggled to a .136/.240/.159 slash line thus far in May. Schneemann absence opens up a spot in the lineup for David Fry, who will serve as Cleveland's designated hitter and No. 5 batter.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Getting breather Saturday

Schneemann isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game versus Toronto. Schneemann has logged a base hit in 10 of his last 11 games, but the Guardians will keep him on the bench Saturday while Juan Brito starts at second base and Steven Kwan patrols center field.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Swats leadoff HR in win

Schneemann started at second base, batted leadoff and went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and a solo home run in Friday's 8-6 win over the Blue Jays. With regular leadoff batter Steven Kwan rested Friday, Schneemann found himself at the top of the Guardians' order and rewarded manager Stephen Vogt's decision by belting a leadoff home run. It was the third homer of the season for Schneemann, whose .989 OPS surprisingly leads the team. The versatile infielder-outfielder has been used all over the field through the first month of the season, but Schneemann could find a home at the keystone, where Cleveland ranks 27th with a .195 average from its second basemen.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Left out of lineup Monday

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros. Though he doesn't have a permanent home at any one spot in the diamond or outfield, Schneemann has been used as a near-everyday player of late. He'll hit the bench Monday for just the second time in nine contests, after he saw his seven-game hitting streak end but extended his on-base streak to eight games with an 0-for-2, two-walk effort in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Orioles. For the season, Schneemann is slashing .302/.362/.528 with two home runs, one stolen base, 11 RBI and nine runs over 58 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Juan Brito: Snaps slide

Brito went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 8-4 win over the Orioles. Brito contributed a two-run double to the Guardians' four-run fourth inning. The hit snapped an 0-for-13 slide and his first extra-base hit and RBI since April 8. He's getting regular playing time while Gabriel Arias (hamstring) in on the injured list, but a slash line of .184/.244/263 leaves Brito vulnerable. Daniel Schneemann (.890 OPS) lurks on the 26-man roster, and elite prospect Travis Bazzana is heating up -- .414/.485/.759 in last seven games -- at Triple-A Columbus after a slow start. Brito's also made three errors since arriving in Cleveland, which could prompt a move to replace him.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Stays hot

Schneemann went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Orioles. Schneemann's seventh-inning grand slam broke a scoreless tie, but the Guardians' bullpen gave it all back and then some a half inning later. The utility infielder has hit in six consecutive games, going 10-for-20 with two doubles, two home runs, nine RBI and four runs scored. He started at shortstop Friday but has been all over diamond. Cleveland is getting very little production at shortstop or second base, which could lead to a near-everyday role for Schneemann, who is batting .313 over 16 games played.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Idle after four straight starts

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles. While starting in each of the last four games -- twice against righties and twice against lefties -- Schneemann went 7-for-14 with three extra-base hits (one home run, two doubles), two walks, two runs and three RBI. Though he'll take a seat against righty Shane Baz in the series opener, Schneemann has made a case for earning regular starts while the Guardians remain without one of their key everyday players in Gabriel Arias (hamstring), whose absence appears likely to stretch into at least the middle of May. For the season, Schneemann has produced a .371 wOBA, placing him third among all Guardians with at least 25 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Records three hits in loss

Schneemann started in center field and went 3-for-4 with two doubles in Sunday's 13-1 loss to Atlanta. With Steven Kwan getting a rare day off, Schneemann entered the lineup for the first time in a week. He'd been getting regular opportunities over the first week of the season, but the hot-hitting Angel Martinez and the call-up of prospect Juan Brito reduced Schneeman's plate appearances as an outfielder or at second base. He's batting .265 (9-for-34) with six doubles, four RBI, one steal and four runs scored over 12 games played.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Sitting against southpaw again

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. With the Royals sending a second consecutive lefty starter (Cole Ragans) to the hill, the left-handed-hitting Schneemann will remain out of the lineup for another day. Schneemann could still have a clear path to making regular starts in the middle infield against right-handed pitching following Gabriel Arias' (hamstring) recent placement on the injured list.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Enters as pinch runner

Schneemann entered Monday's game as a pinch runner and remained in the game at second base. He went 0-for-1 in his lone plate appearance. Schneemann ran for Gabriel Arias (hamstring), who was removed after legging out a two-out, fifth-inning double. Schneemann was stranded on the bases and remained in the game to play second base, while Brayan Rocchio moved from second to shortstop. Arias is expected to miss Tuesday's game and could need more time, which would provide a boost in playing time for Schneemann, who is batting .185 over 27 at-bats.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Absent from lineup

Schneemann is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals. Schneemann has served in a super utility role for the Guardians this season but will take a seat in the series opener versus Kansas City. Steven Kwan will slide over to center field and CJ Kayfus will get the call in left field.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Out of lineup for Game 2

Schneemann is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Cubs. Schneeman went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during Game 1, dropping his slash line for the season to .192/.192/.346 through eight contests. Steven Kwan is handling center field in the nightcap while Angel Martinez starts in left.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Records steal in win

Schneemann went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers. Schneemann has gone just 4-for-18 (.222) over six games this season, but three of his hits have been doubles. He made an impact with his legs after getting aboard Wednesday, stealing third base and scoring after Will Smith's errant throw to third. The steal was Schneemann's first of the year -- he had nine over 422 plate appearances in the 2025 regular season. He has made three starts in center field and one each at second and third so far, so he is likely to play regularly in a utility role. Schneeman's playing time will probably come in the outfield while the Guardians deal with the absence of Chase DeLauter (foot).

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Logs key hit in win

Schneemann started in center field and went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Monday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers. Schneemann's two-out, two-run double in the seventh inning increased Cleveland's lead to 4-0, and it proved to be key, as Los Angeles plated a pair of runs in the ninth. He's found himself in the starting lineup four times through the first five games -- twice in center field and once each at second and third base. Schneemann's versatility is his main fantasy value -- he batted just .206 over 379 at-bats in 2025 -- but he provided 12 home runs and nine steals.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: In Opening Day lineup

Schneemann started in center field and went 1-for-2 with a run scored in Thursday's 6-4 win over Seattle. Schneemann, a utility infielder that has added outfield to his resume since arriving in the majors in 2024, was a mildly surprising addition to the Opening Day lineup over Angel Martinez and prospect CJ Kayfus. Any of the three would have had a platoon advantage against Seattle righty Logan Gilbert, as Kayfus and Schneemann hit left-handed and Martinez is a switch hitter. A report from the National Daily indicates manager Stephen Vogt used Schneemann because of his experience and the matchup against the pitcher. However, Schneemann entered the game hitless over three career at-bats against Gilbert. Given the hot spring Martinez turned in and the fact that Steven Kwan saw time in center field often during spring training, Schneemann is not expected to be close to an everyday player there.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Scratched with ankle sprain

Schneemann was scratched from Friday's Cactus League contest against the Angels due to a right ankle sprain, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Schneemann was scheduled to bat third and start at shortstop for the Guardians. The utility man should be considered day-to-day until the team provides an update. Schneemann slashed .206/.283/.354 with 12 home runs, 41 RBI, 48 runs scored, nine stolen bases and a 38:117 BB:K across 422 plate appearances last season.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Sitting Friday

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Minnesota. Scheemann isn't part of the starting nine for a third consecutive contest. Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez and C.J. Kayfus will fill the outfield from left to right.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Pops two-run double in win

Schneemann started at second base and went 2-for-3 with a walk, a double, two RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rays. He was also caught stealing. Schneemann was integral to the win, which vaulted Cleveland above Tampa Bay in the postseason chase. He popped a two-run, bases-loaded double to left-center to put the Guardians on top in the fourth inning. He later led off the ninth with a single and scored the game-winning run. The offense came out of nowhere for Schneemann, who entered the contest on a 1-for-25 skid over the previous eight games.
