Benintendi is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Phillies.

The left-handed-hitting Benintendi was in the lineup each of the previous two times the White Sox faced a lefty -- including during the first game of the series Monday -- but he'll take a set Tuesday as the Phillies throw southpaw Jesus Luzardo. Edgar Quero is at designated hitter and batting third for Chicago.

With Detroit pushing toward the postseason, Liranzo is a possible candidate to get traded before the deadline, particularly if the Tigers don't want to move their high-end prospects, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The Tigers have a well-stocked farm system, headlined by the likes of Max Clark, Kevin McGonigle and Josue Briceno, as well as Bryce Rainer, who is out for the season due to a dislocated shoulder. While Detroit appears to be a World Series contender this year, it appears unlikely that the team is motivated to trade any of its elite prospects, and Rainer may be hard to move due to his injury. Liranzo is a legitimate prospect in his own right, but he's likely a notch below the aforementioned players, which could make him a target for other clubs. He and Briceno are also both catchers, so the Tigers could view Liranzo as expendable if the right offer comes along. The 22-year-old is slashing .233/.351/.404 with 10 home runs across 65 games for Double-A Erie.

The Red Sox recalled Criswell from Triple-A Worcester on Tuesday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Criswell will provide some much-needed length in the Boston bullpen after starter Richard Fitts lasted only four innings in Monday's loss to the Twins before being optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. The 29-year-old righty has made six relief appearances with the Red Sox in 2025, allowing nine runs (six earned) with a 5:3 K:BB over 10.2 frames. Criswell had been starting at Triple-A could be a candidate to enter the rotation the next time Fitts' turn in the rotation comes up during this weekend's series versus the Astros.

Grichuk went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's loss against Atlanta.

The Royals' recent trade pickup launched his first home run with the team Monday, taking Dylan Lee deep in the eighth inning. Grichuk has hit safely in each of his first two games with Kansas City, going 3-for-9 with Monday's solo shot. The veteran sports just a 5.2 percent walk rate, but he represents a solid infusion of power considering his .467 slugging percentage over 72 games this season. In the short term, he's filling in as the primary right fielder while rookie Jac Caglianone (hamstring) is out and has the flexibility to play other outfield spots or serve as the designated hitter once Caglianone returns.

Garcia went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, an RBI and a walk in Monday's 10-7 loss against Atlanta.

Garcia got a break from the field Monday, serving as the designated hitter and making a strong impact at the plate. He extended his hitting streak to five games, during which he's slashing .500/.571/1.167 with two doubles, two triples, two home runs, a stolen base and five RBI. The 25-year-old is enjoying a true breakout campaign, slashing .301/.357/.476 with 28 doubles, five triples, 10 homers, 19 stolen bases and 46 RBI through 105 games. After recording an OPS below .600 in both 2023 and 2024, Garcia's current .833 OPS ranks second among Royals qualifiers, behind only Bobby Witt.

Cruz (oblique) is slated to throw a bullpen session Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

It will be the first time he's thrown off a mound since he went down with a left oblique strain in late June. Given the length of Cruz's absence, he's likely to require a few rehab appearances before rejoining the Yankees' bullpen. The 35-year-old boasts a 3.00 ERA and 41.2 percent strikeout rate this season.

Dezenzo (hand) began a hitting progression Saturday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Dezenzo had already been taking part in running and throwing programs, but he won't be cleared to begin a rehab assignment until he proves that he can hit high-velocity pitching without issue. The 25-year-old kicked off his hitting program by taking swings off of a tee, and he could soon be ready to face soft-toss pitching before eventually facing off against a pitching machine. Dezenzo has been on the shelf since June 1 due to a left hand capsule strain and is likely at least a couple weeks away from being activated from the 60-day injured list.

Brogdon (2-1) picked up the win over the Rangers on Monday, allowing one run on two hits with out strikeout over 1.1 innings in relief.

Starter Jack Kochanowicz gave the Angels just 4.2 frames, and Brogdon was summoned from the bullpen with two outs and runners on second and third in the fifth. Brogdon struck out Joc Pederson to end the inning, but he gave up a solo shot to Josh Jung in the following frame. Nonetheless, the righty reliever was credited with the win as the Angels held on for the victory. Brogdon has worked primarily in middle relief this season, posting a 4.40 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB over 30.2 innings spanning 29 appearances while notching two holds and zero saves.

The Astros announced Monday that McCullers (finger) has resumed playing catch, but he has yet to begin throwing off a mound, Matthew Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Though McCullers isn't expected to be in line for an extended absence after landing on the 15-day injured list a week ago due to a blister on his pitching hand, he doesn't appear to be on pace to be activated when first eligible next Monday. McCullers is one of seven Astros starters currently on the IL, but Houston should get some reinforcement for its rotation soon since four of those pitchers are in the midst of rehab assignments.

The Orioles announced Monday that Handley (wrist) has resumed swinging a bat, MLB.com reports.

Initially placed on the 7-day injured list June 23, Handley cleared concussion protocol a month later but was shifted to the 10-day IL last week while he continues to recover from a right wrist sprain. The backstop appears to have begun a hitting progression, but he'll still need to face live pitching in addition to proving that his throwing isn't impacted by the wrist injury before he gets cleared for a minor-league rehab assignment.
