Guardians' Petey Halpin: Scores go-ahead run
Halpin went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Kansas City.
Halpin moved up from first base when the runner ahead of him, Austin Hedges, stole third base. That put Halpin in position to score the go-ahead run on a two-run single by Chase DeLauter. The stolen base was his first since being called up last Friday and 10th overall in 2026, when including the nine he swiped for Triple-A Columbus. As another left-handed bat in a lefty-dominant outfield, Halpin doesn't appear to have a platoon advantage over the outfield regulars, but his speed could lead to pinch-running opportunities.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Recalled from Triple-A
The Guardians recalled Halpin from Triple-A Columbus on Friday.
Halpin has spent the entire season with Columbus, where he's slashed .250/.328/.375 with two homers, 14 RBI, 19 runs and nine steals through 26 games. He has experience playing all three outfield spots, though he'll likely be limited to a depth role while with the big club.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Sent to Triple-A
The Guardians optioned Halpin to Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.
Halpin was in contention for a spot on the Opening Day roster, but it looks like the 23-year-old will start the new season in the minor leagues. Halpin has gone 8-for-30 (.267) with two home runs, two doubles, eight runs scored and five RBI during spring training. He could factor into the Guardians' 2026 plans as the season progresses.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Makes swing adjustment
Halpin made an adjustment to his swing during the offseason, designed to shorten his movement and repeatability, Joe Noga of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Halpin, who belted a three-run home run in Thursday's spring game against Seattle, is competing for a role in the outfield with several others. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt described the swing adjustment as significant. "He's got some power," Vogt said. "But (we want him to) just be able to hit the ball all over the field and be able to repeat the move a lot more." Halpin made a brief impression during a late-season call-up in 2025, serving as a defensive replacement and a baserunning weapon during Cleveland's drive for the postseason. The 23-year-old will need to show significant improvement with his bat to put himself in contention for more than a bench role, however.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Selected from Columbus
The Guardians recalled Halpin from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday.
Halpin has spent the entire season at Triple-A, slashing .249/.321/.414 with 14 homers, 44 RBI, 86 runs scored and 15 stolen bases over 126 games. With Nolan Jones now set to miss the rest of the regular season with an oblique strain, the 23-year-old Halpin will come up to fill the open spot in Cleveland's outfield unit. He will be making his MLB debut whenever he gets into a game.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Cut from big-league camp
The Guardians optioned Halpin to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.
Halpin was added to Cleveland's 40-man roster over the winter but never had a real chance of cracking the Opening Day roster. The 22-year-old will get his first taste of Triple-A ball in 2025 after slashing .240/.314/.386 at Double-A Akron in 2024.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Fans twice in spring game
Halpin (wrist) went 0-for-2 in Monday's Cactus League game against the Diamondbacks.
Halpin failed to impress at the dish, but it's a positive sign that he's been able to put his wrist injury behind him. He finished the year with 12 home runs, 46 RBI, 12 stolen bags and 54 runs scored over 90 games at Double-A Akron a season ago.

Guardians' Petey Halpin: Added to 40-man roster
The Guardians selected Halpin (wrist) to their 40-man roster Tuesday.
The 22-year-old Halpin has spent each of the past two seasons with Double-A Akron, where he's slashed .240/.314/.386 with 83 RBI across 203 games. Now that he's on the 40-man roster, the Guardians may be willing to bump him up to Triple-A Columbus, though an MLB debut doesn't appear to be on the horizon.
