  • Rays' Connor Seabold: DFA'd by Rays

The Rays designated Seabold for assignment Friday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Seabold will lose his spot on the 40-man roster to make room for Tristan Peters. The 29-year-old has pitched 61 innings for Triple-A Durham this season, posting a 6.49 ERA. Assuming he clears waivers, he could stay within the Rays organization.

Rays' Tristan Peters: Contract selected Friday

The Rays selected Peters' contract from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

Peters is slated for his first MLB stint, joining the active roster Friday as Jonny DeLuca (hamstring) hits the injured list. In 424 plate appearances with Durham this season, Peters is slashing .282/.370/.453 with 11 homers and 11 stolen bases. Connor Seabold was designated for assignment to open up a spot for Peters on the 40-man roster.

  • Jonny DeLuca RF | TB

Rays' Jonny DeLuca: On 10-day IL

The Rays placed DeLuca on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 7, due to a left hamstring strain, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.

DeLuca left Wednesday's game against the Angels with tightness in his left hamstring, and further testing revealed he's dealing with a strain. Tristan Peters was recalled from Triple-A Durham and Connor Seabold was designated for assignment in corresponding moves.

  • Codi Heuer RP | CLE

Tigers' Codi Heuer: Brought up to active roster

Heuer was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.

Heuer is set to make his Tigers debut after being traded from Texasa to Detroit on July 31. The 28-year-old appeared in 35 games at Triple-A Round Rock before the trade, logging a 3.43 ERA over 39.1 innings. Luke Jackson was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Mariners' Josh Naylor: Not in Friday's lineup

Naylor (shoulder) is not in the Mariners' starting lineup against the Rays on Friday.

Naylor was forced to leave Thursday's game against the White Sox due to left shoulder soreness, and while he's not in Friday's lineup, he could be available as a pinch hitter, per Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com. With Naylor absent from the lineup, Donovan Solano will handle duties at first base and bat seventh while Jorge Polanco operates out of the cleanup spot.

  • Yankees' Austin Slater: To miss 4-6 weeks

Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that Slater (hamstring) will miss 4-to-6 weeks, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Slater suffered a strained hamstring Monday against the Rangers and was put on the injured list Tuesday. It's now known he'll miss at least one month due to the injury. The trade deadline acquisition had played in just three games for New York, going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts.

  • Orioles' Maverick Handley: Going on rehab assignment

Handley (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Handley hasn't seen game action since June 22 due to a concussion and, more recently, a sprained right wrist. However, he's getting close to making a return, as he's set to see some game action this weekend. It's unclear how long of an assignment he'll require.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Could play outfield Saturday

Manager Aaron Boone said Friday that there's a "good chance" Stanton starts in the outfield Saturday against Houston, Max Goodman of NJ.com reports.

Stanton has exclusively played DH this season after dealing with tennis elbow in both of his arms throughout the spring and portions of the summer. It appears as though he's feeling well enough to start playing defense, which should open up more opportunities for Stanton to make the lineup while Aaron Judge is limited to DH. Stanton has been out of the starting nine in three consecutive games, including Friday's series opener against the Astros.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Sent back to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.

Osuna will yield his spot on the active roster to Jake Burger (quad), who's been activated from the 10-day injured list. Osuna will head back to Round Rock after going 1-for-9 during his latest stint in the big leagues.

  • Jake Burger 1B | TEX

Rangers' Jake Burger: Activated off IL

Burger (quadriceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list Friday.

Burger is back on the active roster for the first time since being placed on the injured list July 16 with a strained left quad. He'll immediately join the starting nine, slotting in at DH and batting seventh for Friday's series opener against Philadelphia. Alejandro Osuna was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.
