The White Sox designated Amaya for assignment Friday.
The White Sox needed to make room for Chase Meidroth (thumb) returning from the 10-day injured list. Amaya appeared in 36 games for Chicago this season and slashed a paltry .106/.139/.121 with one double, eight RBI, seven runs scored, two stolen bases and a 3:16 BB:K across 73 trips to the plate.

Blue Jays' George Springer: Aiming for Saturday return
Springer (concussion) will DH at Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, and if all goes well, he'll join the Blue Jays on Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Springer cleared concussion protocol Wednesday and began a minor-league rehab assignment Thursday. The 35-year-old went 1-for-2 with a double and a walk in Thursday's contest. Springer had been sidelined since Aug. 1 due to the concussion.

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Activated from 10-day IL
The White Sox activated Meidroth (thumb) from the 10-day injured list Friday.
Meidroth missed the minimum amount of time on the injured list with his bruised thumb. In a corresponding move, the White Sox designated Jacob Amaya for assignment. Meidroth is slashing .252/.330/.319 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 36 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and a 33:47 BB:K across 349 plate appearances as a rookie this season.

Guardians' Trevor Stephan: Removed from 40-man roster
The Guardians outrighted Stephan on Friday, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.
Stephan has been playing for Triple-A Columbus since being activated off the 60-day injured list July 30, and he'll remain at Columbus or elect free agency after being outrighted. The 29-year-old has allowed 11 runs and three homers in seven innings with Columbus in 2025.

Rangers' Wyatt Langford: Good to go Friday
Langford (forearm) is starting in left field and batting second Friday against the Blue Jays.
Langford was withheld from the starting nine Wednesday due to forearm tightness, but he's ready to play after Thursday's team off day. Through 11 games in August, the 23-year-old has a .237/.370/.368 slash line with two doubles, one homer, five RBi and three runs.

Astros' Josh Hader: Won't throw for three weeks
Hader has been diagnosed with a left shoulder capsule sprain and will not throw for approximately three weeks, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
After the three weeks of not throwing, the next steps will be determined in Hader's recovery. Hader received multiple medical opinions on his injured shoulder, and this is the current course of action. A return toward the end of the regular season seems like best-case scenario right now. Bryan Abreu picked up the save in Hader's absence Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Rays' Bob Seymour: Officially joins Tampa's roster
The Rays selected Seymour's contract from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
The move is now official after Tampa Bay optioned Tristan Peters to Triple-A and released Logan Driscoll in order to make room for Seymour on the 40-man and 26-man rosters. Seymour is expected to see significant playing time at designated hitter for the Rays after smashing 30 home runs at Triple-A this season ahead of his promotion.

Rays' Tristan Peters: Demoted to Triple-A
The Rays optioned Peters to Triple-A Durham on Friday, Ryan Bass of FanDuel Sports Network Sun reports.
The move was made in order to make room for Bob Seymour. Peters made his MLB debut with Tampa Bay last week and appeared in four games. He failed to record a hit over 12 plate appearances, striking out seven times.

Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Idle Friday
Yoshida isn't part of the starting nine for Friday's game against Miami, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
Yoshida will cede DH work to Roman Anthony for the second time in four games, taking a seat against right-hander Sandy Alcantara and the Marlins. Yoshida is 7-for-19 (.368) with two doubles, a homer and seven RBI in his last six games.

Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Launches game-winning homer
Guerrero went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Cubs.
The slugging first baseman won the game for the Blue Jays when he drove a Matthew Boyd curveball over the fence in left-center field in the seventh inning. Guerrero is up to 20 homers on the season, and seven of them have come in his last 18 games -- a stretch in which he's slashing a massive .347/.420/.722 with 13 runs and 14 RBI.
