  • Miguel Vargas 3B | CHW

White Sox's Miguel Vargas: Scores three times

Vargas went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, one RBI and three runs scored Tuesday against Atlanta.

Vargas has started all seven games since returning from the injured list, with Tuesday marking his third multi-hit effort in that span. He also extended his hitting streak to five games, during which he's gone 8-for-21 with an RBI, two doubles and four runs scored.

  • Shane Smith SP | CHW

White Sox's Shane Smith: Works six innings

Smith allowed four earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four across six innings Tuesday against Atlanta. He did not factor into the decision.

Smith was burned by the long ball, allowing a pair of two-run home runs to account for all four of his earned runs. While that derailed his outing, he still managed to generate a solid 14 swinging strikes across 101 pitches. This also marked Smith's longest outing since June 10, a span of eight appearances.

  • Shane Baz SP | BAL

Rays' Shane Baz: Thrashed in 10th loss

Baz (8-10) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks in three innings. He struck out three.

Baz got off to a disastrous beginning, watching Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger and Giancarlo Stanton lift three straight home runs in the opening inning, and things didn't get better for the hurler thereafter. The right-hander served up a career-high five homers Tuesday, and he threw a season-low three innings as well as 65 pitches before his night came to a close. Baz has a 6.85 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 57:17 K:BB across 47.1 innings since the beginning of July; therefore, he'll be tough to trust in next week's scheduled start in Cleveland.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Belts homer in loss

Ramirez went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, two walks and a second run scored in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Ramirez has gone 16-for-65 (.246) over 17 contests in August, though he's also posted an 8:8 BB:K while adding five homers and five steals this month. The third baseman doesn't have to hit for a high average to remain productive in nearly every other category. For the season, he's at 26 long balls, 36 steals, 66 RBI, 81 runs scored, 23 doubles, two triples and a .291/.365/.518 slash line through 122 contests. His .883 OPS is his highest since 2021, though he hasn't been under .800 for a whole year since 2015.

  • Tanner Bibee SP | CLE

Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Gives up four runs in no-decision

Bibee allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Bibee has allowed four runs in each of his last five starts, though he's pitched into the sixth inning in each of his last three outings. While he's allowing too many runs to be reliable, he hasn't taken a loss since July 2 versus the Cubs, going 5-0 across his last eight starts. Bibee is at a 4.62 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 129:44 K:BB through 142.1 innings over 25 starts this season. The right-hander's next start is projected to be at home versus the Rays.

  • Jo Adell RF | LAA

Angels' Jo Adell: Slugs two homers in loss

Adell went 3-for-4 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Reds.

Adell lifted his homers in the seventh and eighth innings, with the latter long ball tying the game briefly at 4-4. The outfielder has gone deep three times over his last three games. He's up to 28 homers, 78 RBI, 49 runs scored and three stolen bases over 119 contests. Adell is still batting just .233, but his .777 OPS is easily the best mark of his career.

  • Kyle Hendricks SP | LAA

Angels' Kyle Hendricks: Yields four runs against Reds

Hendricks allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three over six innings in a no-decision versus the Reds on Tuesday.

Hendricks was in line for the loss when he exited, but the Angels' offense was able to get him off the hook in the late innings. In August, Hendricks has allowed 13 runs over 19.1 innings while posting a 15:8 K:BB, and he remains winless over his four starts this month. He's at a 4.93 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 85:34 K:BB through 126 innings over 24 starts this season. The veteran right-hander is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rangers.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Angels' Kenley Jansen: Dealing with possible injury

Jansen said after Tuesday's loss to the Reds that he's dealing with "something physical" but declined to disclose the nature of the issue, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

When asked if he would miss any time, Jansen said, "Just gonna take it day by day and see where we're at." Jansen took the loss against the Reds on Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one over one inning. Just 11 of his 22 pitches in the top of the ninth were thrown for strikes. Reid Detmers would be a candidate for saves should Jansen need to miss any action.

  • Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Set for another rehab start

Woods Richardson (illness) is scheduled to pitch four innings Thursday for Triple-A St. Paul, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Woods Richardson will make his second rehab start after having a procedure earlier this month to remove a parasite from his digestive tract. He threw two innings Friday for St. Paul. If all goes well Thursday, he'll likely be activated from the injured list and make his next start in the majors.

  • Nick Kurtz 1B | ATH

Athletics' Nick Kurtz: Perfect day at dish

Kurtz went 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI, a run scored and two walks in Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Kurtz continues to terrorize opposing pitchers with another big performance. He doubled in the first inning before walking and scoring a run in the third. He later knocked an RBI double in the sixth. Kurtz has gone 48-for-112 (.429) with 26 extra-base hits over his last 30 games, raising his season slash line to .313/.399/.645 through 356 plate appearances.
