  • Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Walks twice, scores in loss

Perdomo went 0-for-1 with two walks and a run scored in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers.

After leading off the sixth inning with a walk, Perdomo scooted home on Josh Rojas' double, giving him four runs scored over the last two games. He's also taken a team-high four walks through five games. The switch-hitting shortstop has been in the lineup against righties, while Nick Ahmed starts against southpaws. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo hasn't indicated shortstop will be a strict platoon, and the distribution of playing time could be chalked up to bringing Ahmed along slowly after last year's shoulder surgery.

  • Orlando Arcia 2B | MIN

Braves' Orlando Arcia: Homers again Thursday

Arcia went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in a 7-6 win against the Padres on Thursday.

Arcia produced Atlanta's second run with a solo shot off Blake Snell in the third inning, and he capped the contest with a walkoff single in the ninth. The shortstop has gone deep in two of his past three games, and he's hit safely in six of his seven contests so far this season. Arcia has never hit more than 15 homers in a big-league campaign, though he did post a career-best .172 ISO and 7.5 percent barrel rate last year. His earning of Atlanta's starting shortstop job out of spring training was a bit of a surprise, but Arcia has justified the decision thus far, slashing .370/.414/.667 with two homers, four RBI and seven runs through seven games.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Smacks first homer

Witt went 2-for-5 with a solo home run Thursday against the Blue Jays.

Witt took Trevor Richards yard in the eighth inning to tally his first homer, and extra-base hit of the season. He's had a slow start to the campaign overall, as he has just four hits across 29 plate appearances. Positively, he's struck out only five times in that span, which would be a major improvement on the 21.4 percent strikeout rate he posted as a rookie.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Aiming to return Friday

Rojas (groin), who isn't in the lineup Thursday in Arizona, said he hopes to return to the Dodgers' lineup Friday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rojas has been held out of action since he tweaked his left groin Sunday while attempting to start a double play, but he's feeling better now following a few days of rest. Chris Taylor will again fill in at shortstop in Thursday's series opener against the Diamondbacks.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Out with mild forearm tightness

Crawford is out of the lineup Thursday due to mild left forearm tightness, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Thairo Estrada is starting at shortstop in the Giants' series finale Thursday afternoon against the White Sox, but Crawford is expected to return for Friday's home opener versus the Royals. It's notable that this tightness is in Crawford's non-throwing arm, so there's likely not as much concern about aggravating the injury in the field.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Sitting out Thursday

Crawford is absent from the Giants' lineup for Thursday's game against the White Sox.

It appears to be a routine day off for the veteran. Thairo Estrada is handling shortstop while Crawford rests, with David Villar at second base and J.D. Davis at the hot corner.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Productive in Wednesday's loss

Lindor went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Brewers.

The shortstop put together his best performance on the young season, as he'd gone just 2-for-18 in the six games prior. Lindor is still looking for his first home run and first steal of 2023, but the counting stats will come as he continues to hit in the heart of the Mets' order.

  • Ezequiel Duran 2B | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Removed for defense

Duran started in left field and went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Wednesday's 5-2 win over Baltimore.

Duran made his third start in left field and second consecutive with Josh Smith (face) unavailable. The Rangers love his bat, but Duran is relatively new to the outfield. As such, he was replaced by Travis Jankowski late in the game for defensive purposes. As reported by Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News, both Smith and Leody Taveras (oblique) are making progress in their returns to the lineup, which would limit Duran's opportunities as an outfielder.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Not maintaining hot spring

Seager went 0-for-4 with a run scored in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Orioles.

A strong spring was a hopeful sign that Seager would have a better second season with the Rangers, but the shortstop hasn't sustained the momentum. He's 5-for-23 (.217) with zero extra-base hits, one RBI, three walks and three runs scored through the first six games while hitting out of the No. 2 hole. Seager has a .316 xBA and .476 xSLG, however, suggesting a turnaround could be on the horizon.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Smacks second homer

Franco went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk Wednesday against the Nationals.

Franco took Patrick Corbin yard in the third inning to record his second home run of the season. He's gotten off to a hot start in the new campaign, and Wednesday's effort marked his fourth multi-hit performance in six starts. In particular, Franco's power early on has been encouraging as he has five extra-base knocks across 27 plate appearances.
