Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Out Wednesday with hamstring injury

Rojas (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rojas injured his hamstring in the fifth inning of Tuesday's victory over the Dodgers. There was some talk that Mookie Betts would get the start at shortstop for Wednesday's game, but he isn't back from paternity leave. Luke Williams will instead handle shortstop duties and hit eighth against Max Scherzer and the Mets.

  • Yu Chang SS | TB

Red Sox's Yu Chang: Lands on paternity list

Boston will place Chang (personal) on the paternity list Wednesday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Chang will be away for at least one day as his family welcomes a new addition. Enmanuel Valdez will be promoted from Triple-A Worcester to take Chang's place on the 26-man roster.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

    Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Call-up official

The Guardians recalled Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

Though Rocchio won't be included in the starting nine for Wednesday's series finale in Detroit, he could get the chance to pick up regular work in the middle infield if Amed Rosario (back) isn't ready to return to the lineup during this weekend's series versus Miami. Until more clarity arrives on Rosario's situation, Rocchio shapes up as more of a speculative pickup in most fantasy leagues. The 22-year-old Rocchio, who is Cleveland's top position prospect, was hitting .344 with seven extra-base hits, four stolen bases and an 8:9 BB:K over his 70 plate appearances at Triple-A while splitting time between shortstop and second base.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Sitting versus lefty

Crawford will take a seat Wednesday against the Marlins, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

With left-hander Trevor Rogers on the mound for Miami, Crawford will exit the lineup for the series finale. Thairo Estrada will take over at shortstop and bat leadoff versus Miami.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Promotion on tap

The Guardians are expected to call up Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus prior to Wednesday's game against the Tigers, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Cleveland's top hitting prospect, Rocchio has gotten off to a blazing start at Columbus, slashing .344/.414/.459 with seven extra-base hits (all doubles) and four stolen bases across 70 plate appearances so far this season. The Guardians haven't confirmed his promotion or announced any corresponding moves, but Rocchio is presumably in line to step in as the team's top option at shortstop while Amed Rosario (back) is on the mend from an injury. The extent of Rosario's injury may dictate how long Rocchio sticks with the big club, though if the 22-year-old switch hitter excels in his first exposure to the majors, it's possible he sticks around in Cleveland for a longer period of time than anticipated.

  • Rays' Wander Franco: Day off Wednesday

Franco is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus the Reds, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Franco will take a seat after he went 1-for-7 with a walk and a strikeout over the first two games of the series. Taylor Walls will replace him at shortstop and bat eighth in the rubber match against Cincinnati.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Drives in two, cricket style

Ahmed went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Cardinals.

Ahmed was part of Arizona's six-run fourth inning, plating two runs after connecting on a pitch that bounced in the dirt and fell into short left field for a double. The 33-year-old shortstop, who battled a balky shoulder the last two seasons and underwent surgery in June of 2022, is off to a promising start. He's hit safely in eight of 11 games, going 12-for-38 (.316) with six RBI, three steals and four runs scored.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Exits with hamstring injury

Rojas left Tuesday's victory over the Mets with a hamstring injury, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Rojas was pinch hit for in the fifth inning by Luke Williams. It's just the latest injury for the shortstop, who has dealt with lower-body injuries throughout the 2023 campaign and also in spring training. Mookie Betts is expected to get the start at shortstop for Wednesday's series finale against the Mets.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Homers, drives in three

Adames went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two additional RBI during Tuesday's 11-inning win at Seattle.

The 27-year-old doubled home Christian Yelich during the third inning, clubbed a solo homer in the sixth and delivered an RBI groundout during the 11th to put the Brewers ahead for good. It's the second three-hit game of the season for Adames, who has four home runs and is tied for second on the team with 12 RBI.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Leaves in fifth inning

Rojas was pinch hit for in the fifth inning in Tuesday's game against the Mets, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

Rojas was removed in the fifth inning in favor of Luke Williams. The shortstop looked to be in pain after making a throw while fielding a ball that may have hit him in the midsection. It appears very likely that Mookie Betts will be starting at shortstop for the Dodgers on Wednesday.
