Tovar went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 12-1 loss to the Brewers.

Tovar got the Rockies going with a first-inning blast, but Freddy Peralta and two relievers would combine to retire the next 26 Colorado batters in order. Tovar snapped a 10-game homer drought with his blast, which was his 11th of the season. The rookie shortstop has added a solid .253/.286/.416 slash line with five stolen bases, 50 RBI, 51 runs scored, 24 doubles and three triples over 105 contests in a near-everyday role.

Anderson was removed from Monday's game against the Yankees due to a bruised left forearm. He's considered day-to-day after X-rays came back negative.

Anderson was hit by a pitch in the third inning and managed to remain in the game for his next at-bat, but he was ultimately pulled in the eighth. The White Sox will likely re-evaluate the shortstop Tuesday to determine his availability going forward. Anderson is also facing a six-game suspension for his role in a fight with Cleveland's Jose Ramirez on Saturday, but he's eligible to play in games after appealing the ban.

Reyes went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, a double, three runs scored and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Royals.

Reyes' first homer of the year was a two-out, walk-off grand slam Monday. It was his first three-hit game of the year and first multi-hit game since June 19. Reyes had gone just 1-for-7 since being reinstated from the injured list in late July. For the year, he's slashing .312/.357/.416 with six extra-base hits and 13 RBI through 85 plate appearances.

Crawford is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Angels.

Crawford will join fellow left-handed hitters Joc Pederson and LaMonte Wade on the bench while the Giants stock up on some extra right-handed bats to counter Angels southpaw Patrick Sandoval. Mark Mathias and Thairo Estrada will serve as the Giants' starters in the middle infield while Crawford sits.

Mondesi (knee) was spotted taking grounders, hitting and running Monday, Chris Hatfield of SoxProspects.com reports.

Mondesi has been shut down from all baseball activity since June 13 while working to regain strength in his surgically repaired left knee, so this is a significant step in the right direction. However, the Red Sox have been quiet about a timetable for his return, making it unclear whether the 28-year-old can get back on the field before the 2023 campaign ends.

Ornelas was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.

It was reported Sunday that Ornelas would be called up from the minors, and he officially replaced the injured Josh Jung (thumb) on the roster one day later. Ornelas figures to fill some type of super-utility role in his first big-league stint.

Adames is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Rockies.

Adames has started every game since being activated from the 7-day injured list June 7, but he has posted a meager .484 OPS since the All-Star break, and manager Craig Counsell decided it was the right time for a mental break. Brice Turang will man the shortstop position for the Brewers on Monday night.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Story (elbow) will return from the 60-day injured list for Tuesday's game against the Royals, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Over the weekend, Cora noted that Story would remain on assignment at Triple-A Worcester through Thrusday, when his 20-day rehab window would have expired. After further deliberation, however, the Red Sox elected to bring Story back a couple days earlier than expected. The 30-year-old's surgically repaired right elbow showed no ill effects over the course of his 13-game rehab assignment between Worcester and Double-A Portland, as he amassed an 1.117 OPS while walking at a 14.1 percent clip and playing 51 innings in the field. Story is expected to immediately settle in as the Red Sox's everyday shortstop after he played primarily at second base during his first season with the club in 2022.

Anderson will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Monday's game against the Yankees while he appeals the six-game suspension he received for his role in an on-field brawl with the Guardians on Saturday.

Anderson was one of three players suspended by Major League Baseball for his involvement in the brawl, with Cleveland players Jose Ramirez (three games) and Emmanuel Clase (one game) also drawing bans. Anderson and Ramirez both exchanged punches in the brawl, but Anderson's stiffer punishment is likely a result of the league office determining that he instigated the benches-clearing melee. Anderson is without a clear timeline to have his appeal heard, and he could elect to drop the appeal at any point and begin serving the suspension. Until the matter is resolved one way or the other, Anderson looks like he'll continue to serve as Chicago's everyday shortstop.

Chang is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.

Chang will sit for the second straight game in favor of Pablo Reyes, who drew a pair of walks in his start at shortstop in Sunday's 13-1 loss to the Blue Jays. It's unclear if Reyes has moved ahead of Chang on the depth chart, but neither player will be in store for a long-term stay in the starting lineup. The Red Sox are expected to get Trevor Story (elbow) back from the 60-day injured list Thursday, at which time he's expected to take over as the team's everyday shortstop.
