  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Hitting leadoff again

Berti is starting at third base and batting leadoff Wednesday in Colorado, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

This is Berti's fifth straight start in the leadoff spot and his third start in the last five games at third base as he fills in for the slumping Jean Segura. Berti is 7-for-18 at the plate over that span.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Gives Milwaukee early lead

Adames went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Astros.

Adames followed up a leadoff double by Christian Yelich with a two-run home run to open the scoring in the first inning. The shortstop was retired in his next three at-bats and is still struggling with consistency at the plate, but he's second on the team in homers with nine. Last year, Adams finished with 31 home runs and 98 RBI while slashing .238/.298/.458. He's currently slashing just .204/.290/.381.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Getting breather Wednesday

DeJong is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Reds.

This is a rare day off for DeJong, who has hit his way back into an everyday role with a .291/.371/.616 slash line through 97 plate appearances. He's sitting on eight homers, 18 RBI, three steals and 21 runs scored in 25 games. Tommy Edman will cover shortstop and bat seventh Wednesday versus Cincinnati.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Dodgers' Miguel Rojas: Out of lineup

Rojas is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.

Rojas gets a breather for the series finale. Chris Taylor will handle shortstop duties and hit ninth against Bryce Elder and company.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Tending to plantar fasciitis

Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said prior to Wednesday's game against the Giants that Correa is dealing with a muscle strain in the arch of his left foot in addition to plantar fasciitis in his heel, John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. "I think we get to Friday and some of our decisions might be made for us," Baldelli said, when asked if Correa would require a stint on the 10-day injured list.

After undergoing an MRI on Tuesday, Correa was revealed to be dealing with bruising and inflammation to the heel, but Baldelli's latest update suggests the veteran shortstop's injury could be more serious. Correa is out of the lineup for the second day in a row Wednesday, and the Twins still seem to be holding out hope that the 28-year-old can show enough improvement coming out of Thursday's off day to avoid the IL. Kyle Farmer is filling in at shortstop Wednesday and would be the primary option to pick up starts at the position if Correa requires a shutdown of any length of time.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Three hits in Tuesday's romp

Bichette went 3-for-5 with two runs scored in Tuesday's rout of the Rays.

The Blue Jays nearly set franchise records with a 20-run, 27-hit outburst, and Bichette carved out his share of the production. It's the third time in the last six games the shortstop has rapped out three hits, and since the calendar flipped to May he's slashing .333/.375/.489 with three homers, a steal, 12 runs and 12 RBI in 21 contests.

  • Ezequiel Duran 2B | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Dealing with rib soreness

Duran is absent from the lineup Wednesday against the Pirates as he nurses rib cage soreness, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Duran was replaced by Brad Miller at the plate in the ninth inning of Tuesday's 6-1 win, and now an explanation behind Duran's departure is known. The 23-year-old believes he's OK, so he can be considered day-to-day heading into the Rangers' series with Baltimore that begins Friday.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Twins' Carlos Correa: Takes seat to manage heel injury

Correa (heel) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Correa's move to the bench for the day game after a night game comes as little surprise after an MRI administered on his bruised left heel Tuesday revealed inflammation. The Twins are treating Correa as day-to-day for the time being, presumably with the hope that he'll be fit to return to the lineup at some point during the weekend series with Toronto following a team off day Thursday. Kyle Farmer will pick up another start at shortstop Wednesday while Correa sits for a second consecutive day.

  • Pirates' Tucupita Marcano: Sitting versus southpaw

Marcano is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest with the Rangers.

Marcano will head to the bench as the Pirates take on southpaw Martin Perez on Wednesday. Chris Owings with draw the start at shortstop and bat ninth in the series finale with Texas.

  • Ezequiel Duran 2B | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Out of lineup Wednesday

Duran is not in the starting lineup Wednesday versus Pittsburgh, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

After Duran was removed for a pinch hitter in the top of the ninth inning Tuesday, the 23-year-old will be on a bench for the series finale. It's unclear whether his health played a factor in his removal Tuesday and his subsequent absence from the lineup one day later, though more information should be provided Wednesday. Corey Seager will draw the start at designated hitter while Josh Smith starts at shortstop and bats eighth against the Pirates.
