Arcia is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.

Arcia hit his second career home run Monday and went 8-for-22 (.364) over his last seven games, but manager Craig Counsell decided to hold him out Tuesday with the Brewers facing tough right-hander Adam Wainwright. With Arcia opening Tuesday's game on the bench, Jonathan Villar will get the nod at shortstop and Hernan Perez will replace Villar at third base.

Arcia went 1-for-4 with his second home run, a solo shot, in Monday's loss to St. Louis.

After a brutally slow start, Arcia is starting to figure things out. Monday's blast marks his second home run in his past four games, and he is hitting a cool 8-for-22 (.364) with four extra-base hits since busting his slump with a pinch-hit double August 23 against the Rockies. He did strike out twice Monday night, and his 20.8 percent strikeout rate thus far is concerning, but at least Arcia is starting to show some life at the plate.

Seager suffered an injury to his left hand during Monday's game and has already been ruled out Tuesday against the Rockies, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Seager sustained the injury after being hit by a pitch Monday, but X-rays came back negative and it seems as though he's just dealing with swelling. He'll have an opportunity to return Wednesday, since manager Dave Roberts had actually planned on resting Seager on Tuesday anyway.

Diaz (thumb) is expected to face live pitching in the near future, Jim Hayes of Fox Sports Midwest reports.

Diaz's appointment to track his rehab progress went well, so he'll soon add hitting to his current training regimen. He'll likely return to Florida and continue his rehab process. At this point, a timeframe for his eventual return isn't available. However, the club should have a better idea of when Diaz will come off the DL once he begins hitting.

Crawford batted cleanup and went 3-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 13-4 win over the Braves.

Crawford's now hitting .307/.360/.525 during a hot month of August, and he's provided 76 RBI on the season -- fourth among all shortstops. That trend should continue as long as Crawford is batting in the middle third of the Giants' lineup.

Turner went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's loss to the Rockies.

The homer was his fifth in 177 big league at-bats this season after he hit just nine in 519 at-bats over the last two years at Triple-A. Turner's .345 batting average and 17 steals in 20 attempts are the main drivers of his fantasy value, but if he can show the potential to provide double-digit home runs as well, he'll head into 2017 as one of the top options on the board at shortstop.

Sardinas will start at shortstop and bat eighth in the order Sunday against the Marlins.

Although veteran Alexei Ramirez lingers on the roster as a far more experienced option at shortstop, the non-contending Padres are content to give the 23-year-old Sardinas a chance at showcasing his abilities in a full-time role. He'll be making his sixth consecutive start at shortstop Sunday, and the early returns have been somewhat encouraging. Over 14 at-bats to date with the Padres, Sardinas has recorded four hits (including a home run) while driving in four, scoring three runs and walking three times.

Swanson is out of Sunday's lineup against the Giants.

The Braves are continuing to give their prized rookie regular days off, as they opt to start Chase d'Arnaud at shortstop for Sunday's series finale against San Francisco. After playing in 10 MLB games, Swanson owns a .278 batting average and .308 on-base percentage.

Pennington is out of the lineup Sunday against the Tigers.

This will be the third time in the last four games that Pennington has taken a seat, as Kaleb Cowart will now have started at the keystone in back-to-back contests. Pennington's August performance at the plate hasn't done him many favors -- he has just one base hit in his last six games, and is just 9-for-56 on the month, striking out 23 times.

Gordon is in Sunday's lineup against the Padres, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Gordon was out of the starting lineup for Friday and Saturday's games, but he'll return to his normal leadoff spot Sunday. Gordon is hitting just .200 over the last seven games, but will have the chance to get back on track as Luis Perdomo takes the mound for San Diego.
