Wendle went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday.

Wendle has now rattled off three straight two-hit games and has nine multi-hit efforts in August overall. The valued utility man has pushed his average ever close to the .300 mark with his impressive month at the plate, one that's seen him drive in 16 runs and generate a stellar .366 on-base percentage over 94 plate appearances.

Anderson (ankle) is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Yankees.

Anderson will be withheld from the starting nine after exiting Tuesday's outing due to a bruised left ankle. He isn't expected to miss an extended period of time -- Anderson anticipated being in Wednesday's lineup. Jose Rondon will start at shortstop in his absence.

Baez will not be in the lineup against the Mets on Wednesday, Mark Gonzales of The Chicago Tribune reports.

Baez will receive a rare breather after starting the past 29 games. With the Cubs finishing up Tuesday's suspended game Wednesday afternoon and playing the regularly-scheduled matinee, manager Joe Maddon will give Baez some rest with 14 games coming up in the next 14 days. In his place, David Bote will get a start at shortstop.

Gordon is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Padres, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Gordon sits after starting 12 straight games, a stretch in which he hit just .233. Robinson Cano will slide over to second base, with Ryon Healy starting at first.

Herrera is out of the lineup versus Detroit on Wednesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Herrera will take a seat after starting seven of the past nine games, during which he's hit just .115/.179/.115 with three singles and 10 strikeouts. Jorge Bonifacio will start in right field while Lucas Duda mans the DH spot.

Anderson, who left Tuesday's game against the Yankees with a bruised left ankle, said on MLB Network on Wednesday morning that he's fine and expects to be in the lineup for Wednesday night's game.

Wait for official confirmation once the Pale Hose make their evening lineup official, but Anderson seems to think he's fine and at the very least it sounds like he's not dealing with a more concerning injury.

Story went 2-for-4 with his 21st stolen base of the season and a run in the Rockies' 3-2 win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Story was also caught stealing in the contest, but his 21-for-27 success rate on the bases this season is excellent for a player who had gone only 15-for-22 on steal attempts through his first two years in the majors. In addition to his contributions on the basepaths, Story is also one home run shy of matching the career-best total of 27 he notched as a rookie. He's only one of five players in the majors with 25 or more long balls and 20 or more steals in 2018.

Fletcher went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to Colorado.

Fletcher has started five consecutive games since suffering a knee contusion last Wednesday. The rookie infielder hasn't provided much in terms of power or speed in the majors this year, but he has demonstrated solid contact skills (.278 batting average), resulting in 26 runs and 22 RBI while batting in the top third of the order.

Mondesi went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Tigers.

Mondesi got the Royals on the board in the third inning with his fifth long ball, though he was also thrown out stealing following a single later in the contest. It was the speedy 23-year-old's first unsuccessful stolen base attempt in 13 tries, as he's now 17-for-21 on the year in just 47 games in the big leagues.

Anderson exited Tuesday's game against the Yankees with a bruised left ankle, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Anderson will be evaluated further Wednesday, but for now he is considered day-to-day. Yolmer Sanchez or Jose Rondon are likely to fill in at shortstop if Anderson is forced to miss any time.
