The veteran utility man has just 16 plate appearances on the year but has been productive when called upon, slashing .467/.500/.733 with two extra-base hits, seven runs, three RBI and a stolen base.

McGonigle went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Sunday's 8-2 win over the Marlins.

McGonigle smashed his first major-league homer, taking Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara yard in the fifth frame. The top prospect has bounced around the batting order so far, but he hit leadoff for the fifth time this year Sunday and is pushing to maintain a premium lineup spot. Through 68 plate appearances, McGonigle is slashing .322/.412/.508 with eight extra-base hits, eight RBI, one stolen base and 11 runs scored.

Merrill went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and one stolen base in Sunday's 7-2 victory over the Rockies.

Merrill put the finishing touch on the Padres' fifth-straight win, blasting a solo homer in the seventh inning to extend the lead to five. It's been a slow start for the center fielder, who is slashing .217/.288/.417 through 16 games to open the 2026 campaign, though he's driven in four runs over his past two games and will look to build on that as he works to hit his stride at the plate.

With the wind whipping out to center at Wrigley Field on Sunday, Cruz led off the game with a solo blast. He struck out in each of his next three trips to the plate before walking and stealing his sixth base of the season in the ninth inning. It's been an all-or-nothing start to the 2026 campaign for Cruz, who is slashing .339/.400/.644 with five homers, 13 RBI, 11 runs scored, six steals and a 5:20 BB:K across 65 plate appearances.

Schmitt went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Orioles.

Schmitt reached base in each of his final three plate appearances, highlighted by a solo blast in the ninth inning. The 27-year-old has now hit safely in five straight games, a stretch that includes 11 total hits, five of which have gone for extra bases. Swanson has had a tough start to the 2026 season, as he entered Sunday's game with a .149 average and .515 OPS through the first 14 games. The shortstop got the scoring started for the Cubs in this one, taking Bubba Chandler deep to lead off the bottom of the third inning. He later walked and scored in the seventh and eighth innings.
