Ahmed went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Cubs.

Ahmed doubled off Zach Davies to lead off the third inning and drove in a run in the seventh. That was just his second extra-base hit in July. The 31-year-old is slashing .212/.278/.311, his worst line since 2016. He has just two long balls after hitting 19 in 2019. In addition, he's batting .159 in his last 15 games.

Franco will sit Monday against the Orioles, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

A lukewarm first 18 games shouldn't significantly diminish the hype surrounding a young player with as much pedigree as Franco, but it's fair to say the 20-year-old hasn't set the world on fire thus far. In his first 80 trips to the plate, he's slashed just .216/.275/.392, with his 23.8 percent strikeout rate, while still a perfectly fine number, more than tripling his career 7.9 percent mark in the minors. He'll get a rest Monday, with Taylor Walls starting at shortstop.

Mateo entered Sunday's loss to the Nationals as a pinch runner and stole two bases in addition to scoring a run.

The speedster ran for Victor Caratini with the Padres trailing by a run in the ninth inning. He promptly stole second base, then swiped third and came around to score the tying run on a Trent Grisham single. Mateo's speed gives him value to the big club, but he hasn't started a game since June 13 and is batting only .200 with a 28.6 percent strikeout rate this season.

Adames went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, two runs and a season-high three walks in Sunday's victory over the Reds.

Adames has been a star at the plate ever since being acquired by the Brewers back in May, and he just completed his most-productive series since joining the club, going 8-for-13 with two home runs, seven RBI, six runs and three walks in the Brewers' three-game sweep of the Reds to open the second half. Adames now owns a .976 OPS since joining the Brewers -- a mark that would rank him sixth among all players over the course of the season.

Franco went 1-for-3 with a game-tying solo home run and a walk in a win over Atlanta on Sunday. He was also caught stealing on his only attempt.

The rookie's 418-foot blast in the sixth inning knotted the game up at 3-3 and ignited what would be a five-run surge for the Rays over the sixth and seventh frames. Franco has gotten good wood on the ball in the early stages of the second half of the season, as he also laced his first major-league triple in Friday's series opener.

Bogaerts went 2-for-3 with two doubles in a 9-1 loss to the Yankees on Sunday.

Bogaerts tagged New York starter Jameson Taillon for doubles in the fourth and sixth, but Boston was unable to capitalize on either scoring opportunity. He was lifted for pinch hitter Michael Chavis in the eighth which would normally be concerning given Bogaerts has been dealing with a sore wrist of late, though the replacement could have been precautionary due to Sunday's blowout.

Diaz (hand) will move his rehab to Double-A Corpus Christi and spend most of this week with the Hooks, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Hooks kick off a six-game road trip to Midland on Tuesday. Diaz spent two games with Houston's Gulf Coast League affiliate, going 2-for-5 with a double, a walk and two RBI.

Witt was promoted to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Witt missed a few days with an ankle injury earlier in July, but he's slashed .267/.389/.667 with three home runs, nine RBI, six runs and a stolen base in his seven appearances since returning to action. The 21-year-old will now get to face higher-level competition and could join the major-league club at some point if he continues to perform well.

Anderson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Astros.

Anderson extended a couple of streaks during the win. He's hit safely in 15 consecutive and has a run in 11 straight. Sunday also marked his second straight contest with a home run -- his eighth of the season.

Bogaerts (wrist) will start at shortstop and bat cleanup Sunday against the Yankees.

A sore left wrist kept Bogaerts on the bench for Saturday's 3-1 loss, but he appears to be good to go after the one-day respite. The Red Sox are hoping the wrist issue won't disrupt Bogaerts' rhythm at the plate; since the beginning of June, Bogaerts is slashing .314/.386/.518 while striking out in only 18.4 percent of his plate appearances.
