  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Starting Wednesday

Crawford (back) is starting Wednesday's game against the Mets.

Crawford exited Tuesday's win due to lower-back tightness, but he'll remain in the lineup Wednesday. Across his last four appearances, the 34-year-old has gone 4-for-13 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base and two walks.

  • Miguel Rojas 2B | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Not starting Wednesday

Rojas isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Rojas has gone 2-for-12 with a walk and three strikeouts across his last three appearances, and he'll get a day off Wednesday. Jazz Chisholm will shift to shortstop while Isan Diaz starts at second base.

  • Willy Adames SS | SF

Brewers' Willy Adames: Officially out of lineup

Adames (quadriceps) isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Reds.

Adames' exclusion from the lineup was expected after he exited Tuesday's contest with left quadriceps discomfort. Manager Craig Counsell didn't sound too concerned about the injury following Tuesday's matchup, and the 25-year-old is considered day-to-day.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | TB

    Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Sits Wednesday

Mateo (back/hip) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Mateo will head to the bench after lower-back and hip soreness knocked him out of Tuesday's 14-8 loss. Before departing, Mateo was in the midst of another nice day at the dish, as he went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a walk. Ramon Urias and Jahmai Jones will pick up starts at shortstop and second base, respectively, while Mateo sits.

  • Mets' Francisco Lindor: Retreats to bench

Lindor isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Lindor returned from the injured list Tuesday and went 0-for-4 in the series opener against San Francisco, but he'll head back to the bench as he's eased back into action. Javier Baez will shift to shortstop while Jonathan Villar enters the lineup at third base.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Indians' Brayan Rocchio: On hot streak in Double-A

Rocchio has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games for Double-A Akron, posting a .315/.373/.611 line with four homers and two steals in that stretch.

The last time we checked in with Rocchio, he was off to a slow start following his promotion to Double-A, but he's almost completely erased those bad memories. The 20-year-old shortstop's batting line with Akron now sits at a solid .262/.347/.488, and if he finishes strong, he'll have a solid case to open 2022 in Triple-A.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Returns to lineup

Anderson (leg) is starting Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.

Anderson missed the last four games due to leg soreness but will start at shortstop and lead off Wednesday. The 28-year-old has recorded hits in each of his last 10 appearances, and he hit .388 with four homers, a triple, two doubles, 12 runs and 10 RBI during that time.

  • Luke Williams 2B | ATL

Phillies' Luke Williams: Picks up start versus lefty

Williams will start in center field and bat eighth Wednesday against the Rays, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

With southpaw Ryan Yarbrough on the hill for Tampa Bay, the righty-hitting Williams will check into center field as a replacement for the lefty-hitting Odubel Herrera. The Phillies appear to value the defensive versatility Williams brings off the bench, but he's unlikely to move out of a small-side platoon role unless the team loses an everyday player to an injury.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Not in Wednesday's lineup

Ahmed isn't starting Wednesday's game against the Pirates.

Ahmed went 1-for-7 with a walk and a strikeout across the last two games and will be out of the lineup for the second time in the last four contests. Josh Rojas will start at shortstop while Josh VanMeter enters the lineup at second base.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Dodgers' Trea Turner: Swipes 25th bag

Turner went 1-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a run in a 5-2 victory versus San Diego on Tuesday.

Turner used his legs to help the Dodgers tack on a run in the eighth inning, doubling to lead off the frame before swiping third base and coming home on a sacrifice fly. In 16 games with the Dodgers, the infielder is slashing .323/.358/.484 with a home run, five RBI, 14 runs and four stolen bases.
