  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Continues strong second half

Seager went 2-for-5 with a double and a pair of RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 win over the White Sox.

The slugging shortstop has been on fire in the second half of the season, slashing .336/.405/.566 with six homers, eight doubles and 14 RBI in 28 games since the All-Star break. Seager currently ranks in the top-3 among all shortstops in runs (73), home runs (19), RBI (59), batting average (.308) and OPS (.917) this season, solidifying himself as one of fantasy's most well-rounded bats in just his age-23 season.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Working at multiple positions in Memphis

Diaz recently asked for and was granted permission to begin working at second and third base in addition to shortstop at Triple-A Memphis, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports. "I think versatility for most players is valuable," said Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak. "Now that he's been down there awhile and adjusting to it, [we] thought it was time to create some flexibility for him."

Diaz's request was essentially born out of self-preservation, considering that rookie Paul DeJong has a stranglehold on the shortstop position in the majors for the foreseeable future. Diaz worked at multiple spots in the infield during his playing days in Cuba, but had focused on shortstop during his time in the Cardinals' organization. Sent down to Memphis back on June 28 to refine his swing, the 27-year-old has been rather ordinary with the Redbirds, slashing .252/.292/.396 with four home runs and 20 RBI.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Late scratch with back spasms

Arcia was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to back spasms.

This was a pretty late scratch -- roughly two hours before first pitch. Eric Sogard slides in at shortstop and takes Arcia's spot in the eight hole.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Nationals' Trea Turner: Takes batting practice

Turner (wrist) took batting practice on the field Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

This is a huge step for Turner, as he had previously been limited to rotational exercises and fielding exercises. There is no specific timetable for his return to the big-league lineup, but it's possible he will be able to return before the end of the month.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Homers again Monday

Baez went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and two runs scored during Monday's win over Cincinnati.

Baez now has six bombs, 15 RBI and 11 runs through his past 15 games, but it has to be noted that Monday's shot was off Scooter Gennett and not a pitcher. Additionally, Baez stuck out twice and looked particularly foolish swinging at a pitch in the opposite batter's box for strike three in one at-bat. Still, with eligibility at multiple positions and a power-speed profile, Baez is a serviceable fantasy asset in the majority of settings. He's sporting a solid .272/.312/.498 slash line, after all.

  • Marlins' Dee Gordon: Scores twice in win over Giants

Gordon went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored during Monday's win over San Francisco.

With a .299 batting average, 40 stolen bases and 78 runs, Gordon is moving the fantasy needle in the categories he can be counted on. Additionally, with the middle of the Miami lineup clicking, Gordon should soon top his previous career-high 92 runs from the 2014 campaign.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Homer tear continues Sunday

DeJong went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Braves.

DeJong has already matched his first-half homer total (nine) in seven fewer games over the second half of the season. Four of those round trippers have come within the first 57 plate appearances of August, a stretch in which he's also posted a .410 wOBA and 26.7 percent HR/FB rate.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Hits three-run bomb Sunday

Baez went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Sunday's 7-2 win over Arizona.

The infielder continues to build upon his career-high home run total, as he's now up to 17 on the season. Baez's .270 average, 52 RBI and eligibility at multiple infield positions make him a serviceable fantasy asset in all but the shallowest of formats.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Heads to bench for Game 2

Crawford is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Crawford will head to the bench after going 0-for-4 with a walk in the Giants' 4-2 win in Game 1. Kelby Tomlinson will take over at shortstop for the series finale.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Launches another round tripper in win

DeJong went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 6-5 win over the Braves.

The rookie's 405-foot shot to center in the seventh extended the Cardinals' lead to a relatively comfortable 6-3 at the time, but the blast ended up being key to the win when the Braves scored two runs in the ninth. DeJong shows no signs of slowing down, as he's now bashed three homers in the last eight contests as part of a .306/.346/.551 line thus far in August.
