Jim Jarvis SS | ATL
Braves' Jim Jarvis: Sitting out Friday
Jarvis is not in the lineup for Friday's contest versus the Yankees.
It's left-hander Max Fried on the bump for the Yankees, so the left-handed-hitting Jarvis will begin the festivities on the bench. Ha-Seong Kim will patrol shortstop in the series opener.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Shifts to leadoff spot
Perdomo batted leadoff and went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 5-1 loss to San Diego.
Perdomo was the latest Diamondback to hit atop the order. Once the purview of Ketel Marte, the leadoff spot has also been handled by Corbin Carroll, trade deadline acquisition Lars Nootbaar and now Perdomo in recent weeks. Prior to the game, Arizona manager Torey Lovullo indicated he'll keep playing around with the top half of the lineup as he searches for a combination that clicks, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Perdomo had a .382 OBP since the All-Star break coming into Thursday's contest.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Socks three-run homer
Lindor went 3-for-6 with a three-run home run in Thursday's win over the Guardians.
The star shortstop continues to swing a better bat as of late. Since the All-Star break, Lindor is batting .260 with five homers, three doubles, one triple and 16 RBI covering 77 at-bats. He's now slashing .230/.311/.422 with 10 long balls, 28 RBI, two stolen bases and 30 runs scored over 257 plate appearances in 2026. so Lindor still has a ways to go to climb back toward his career norms.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Closing in on 20 homers
De La Cruz went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Thursday's 6-5 win over the Athletics.
De La Cruz jumped on the second pitch he saw to give the Reds an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. It was the 19th homer of the season for De La Cruz, who's seeking a third consecutive 20-homer campaign. He's slashing a career-best .276/.356/.501 for the season along with 18 doubles, five triples, 19 homers and 53 RBI through 95 games.

Mookie Betts SS | LAD
Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Collects four hits Wednesday
Betts went 4-for-5 with a run in a loss to the Cubs on Wednesday.
All four knocks were singles, but it was still a promising performance after Betts went 1-for-16 over his previous five games. The star shortstop is in the midst of a quiet season offensively, as his .685 OPS through 78 contests is easily on pace for a career-worst mark. It's worth noting that Betts was carrying a .657 OPS before collecting three hits on the same date (Aug. 5) last year, spurring a hot stretch that resulted in an .892 OPS across his final 47 contests, so there's at least a precedent for those hoping the 2018 AL MVP can turn things around before the end of the campaign.

C.J. Abrams SS | WAS
Nationals' CJ Abrams: Clutch triple in Wednesday's win
Abrams went 3-for-5 with a triple, three RBI, two runs and a steal during the Nationals' 10-4 extra-innings win over the Phillies on Wednesday.
Abrams kick-started the Nationals' six-run 10th inning with a two-run triple deep to center field before coming home on a sacrifice bunt. It was the 11th game this season that Abrams has driven in at least three runs, and his 88 RBI lead the majors. He also ranks eighth in both home runs (28) and OPS (.921) and 13th in both steals (21) and batting average (.290).

Jim Jarvis SS | ATL
Braves' Jim Jarvis: Idle Wednesday
Jarvis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Jarvis will hit the bench after he went 5-for-19 (.263 average) with two RBI and one run while starting in Atlanta's previous six games. With the club recently getting all of Ronald Acuna, Mike Yastrzemski and Sean Murphy back from the injured list and also adding Lane Thomas ahead of the trade deadline, Jarvis could end up ceding more time at shortstop to Mauricio Dubon, who may not be needed in the outfield as frequently.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Padres' Xander Bogaerts: Playing Wednesday
Bogaerts (foot) is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Bogaerts had X-rays on his foot come back negative after fouling a ball off his foot Tuesday, and the veteran shortstop has been cleared to play in Wednesday's contest. Bogaerts has reached base safely in six consecutive games, going 7-for-20 with two steals and two RBI in that span.

Masyn Winn SS | STL
Cardinals' Masyn Winn: Idle Wednesday
Winn out of the lineup for Wednesday's affair with the Yankees.
The 24-year-old will hit the bench for the series finale while JJ Wetherholt moves over to shortstop. Winn went 1-for-8 with a walk and a run scored in the first two tilts with the Yankees.

Trea Turner SS | PHI
Phillies' Trea Turner: Three hits in Tuesday's win
Turner went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Nationals.
Facing the team with which he debuted back in 2015, Turner produced his fourth multi-hit effort in the last six games as he continues to tear it up after the All-Star break. Over his last 17 contests, the star shortstop has broken out for a .343/.387/.671 slash line with 10 extra-base hits (three doubles, a triple and six homers), 11 RBI and 15 runs, although his one steal over that stretch is likely a mild disappointment for his fantasy investors.
