Seager went 1-for-4 a walk and a solo home run Thursday against the Marlins.

Seager took Jose Quijada deep in the sixth inning to record his 12th homer of the season. He's now gone deep in three consecutive games, jumping his slugging percentage from .435 to .456. His production has extended beyond this homer streak however, as Seager has recorded at least one hit in seven of his past 10 games and scored in each game in that span. While injury has cost him some counting stat production, Seager is hitting .266 and getting on-base at a .343 clip across 394 plate appearances for the season.

Crawford is not in the lineup Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford will give way to Donovan Solano at shortstop in this one as the Giants stack right-handed bats against lefty Alex Young. Since the start of August, Crawford is slashing just .146/.222/.171 in 12 games.

Swanson (foot) participated in pregame fielding drills Thursday, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Swanson was seen fielding short hops from his knees with coach Ron Washington. Manager Brian Snitker noted that the shortstop is beginning to do some hitting, though he has yet to resume running. Despite the progress, Swanson remains without a return timetable.

Baez was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Phillies due to an illness.

David Bote is covering shortstop in place of Baez, while Ian Happ enters the lineup at second base. Baez, who is just 1-for-15 over his past five starts, should be considered day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh.

Seager went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in a victory versus Miami on Wednesday.

Seager launched a 416-foot shot to center field in the first inning to plate two runs and notched another RBI with a single in the seventh. The 25-year-old began August with a whimper, going 5-for-31 with one RBI over the first nine games, but has turned things around to collect five hits in his last 13 at-bats with a pair of homers and five runs batted in.

DeJong went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and another run scored in Wednesday's 6-0 win over the Royals.

DeJong crushed a 432-foot homer off Josh Staumont in the eighth inning. The long ball was his 20th of the season, as the 26-year-old became the first Cardinals shortstop to produce multiple 20-home run campaigns. Factoring in Tuesday's production, DeJong is batting .250/.328/.454 with 76 runs scored and 54 RBI this season.

Swanson (foot) has yet to resume fielding drills and remains without a clear timeline to return from the 10-day injured list, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

The Braves initially believed Swanson's right foot injury would result in a minimum-length stay on the injured list, but his absence has lingered far longer than either the shortstop or organization anticipated. Swanson, who missed a 19th consecutive game Tuesday, remains in recovery mode and has yet to resume baseball activities since experiencing a setback while doing some light running earlier this month. Realistically, he probably won't be ready to return from the IL until at least early-to-mid-September while he battles a bone bruise in his heel and inflammation in other areas of the foot.

Tejada had his contract purchased from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. He's starting at second base and hitting seventh against the Braves, Matt Ehalt of Yahoo Sports reports.

Tejada will join the Mets in place of the injured Jeff McNeil, who landed on the shelf Wednesday with a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2017, when he hit just .230 with a .576 OPS in 41 games for Baltimore. He had been raking for Syracuse this season, however, slashing .330/.408/.476 across 304 plate appearances.

Seager went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a rout of the Marlins on Tuesday.

Seager went deep in the fourth inning, belting a 392-foot shot to right field. The blast snapped a 13-game homerless drought in which Seager batted .191 (9-for-47). On the season, he is slashing .265/.341/.441 with 10 home runs and 49 RBI in 384 plate appearances.

Ahmed went 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple and three RBI in Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Rockies.

Ahmed is sizzling at the plate, cranking out a homer for a third consecutive game while going 6-for-12 with nine RBI during that stretch. He's actually been hot for a longer period, as he's slashing .304/.388/.548 with seven home runs, 29 RBI and 22 runs scored over the 34 games he's played since July 2. Once considered employable for his glove solely, the shortstop's bat has caught up in 2019. Plate discipline appears to be the key. Two seasons ago, Ahmed swung at 39.6 percent of the pitches outside the zone, lowered that figure 31.5 percent last season and has further whittled it down to 27.1 percent during the current campaign.
