Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Delivers two hits in victory
Baez went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI in a 4-1 victory over the Brewers on Saturday.
Baez scored the first run for the Cubs and later drove in an eighth-inning insurance run. The 26-year-old also struck out for a league-leading 132nd time, but the strikeouts haven't dampened his production. Baez has 26 homers and 73 RBI and sports a .289/.320/.552 slash line with nine steals in 440 at-bats this season.

Miguel Rojas SS | LAD
Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Won't miss time
Rojas (hip) will play shortstop and bat leadoff Saturday against the Rays.
Rojas left Thursday's game against the Twins with hip tightness, but he's ready to go following Friday's scheduled day off. He'll look to continue his nine-game hitting streak, a stretch in which he's hitting .387/.406/.677.

Trevor Story SS | BOS
Rockies' Trevor Story: Cranks 23rd homer
Story went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 5-4 win over the Giants.
Story took Giants starter Shaun Anderson deep in the third inning, giving the Rockies a 2-0 lead at the time. The slugging shortstop has 23 homers, 59 RBI and 78 runs scored in 97 games this season while owning a .280/.344/.545 line.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Posts three hits in victory
Baez went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, two runs and a stolen base in a 6-2 victory against the Brewers on Friday.
The 26-year-old also struck out once, giving him a league-leading 131 punchouts this season, but it was a strong day otherwise. Baez will need to pick up the pace to reach his 2018 totals in RBI and stolen bases, but he already has 26 homers, putting him eight behind his career-high mark. Baez is batting .287 with 59 extra-base hits, 72 RBI, 75 runs and nine steals in 436 at-bats this season.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: In Friday's lineup
Crawford (shoulder) remains in the lineup Friday against the Rockies, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Crawford left Friday's game against the Phillies with a jammed shoulder, but he'll return without missing a start. He'll bat fifth and serve as the shortstop Saturday.

Paul DeJong SS | DET
Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Emerges from slump
DeJong went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs in a win over the Cubs on Thursday.
DeJong has been prone to both multi-game skids and some rather spectacular performances during his roller-coaster 2019, and he broke out of another funk -- he'd gone 1-for-20 in the six games subsequent to his three-homer effort versus the Pirates on July 24 -- in fine fashion Thursday. It was DeJong's first multi-hit effort since the aforementioned power display, and it got the new month off to a strong start after he limped to a .205 average in July.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Won't return when first eligible
Swanson (foot) won't return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible Saturday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
Both Swanson and the Braves had previously expressed optimism that he would be sidelined for the minimum due to a bruised right foot, but that optimism was evidently unfounded. His right heel was still bothering him when he ran Friday, so he's now not expected to return until early next week.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Dodgers' Corey Seager: Gets breather
Seager is not in the lineup Thursday against the Padres.
Seager will get what appears to be a routine day off following a string of 11 consecutive starts. In his place, Kris Negron is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth against lefty Joey Lucchesi.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Dealing with jammed shoulder
Manager Bruce Bochy said Crawford jammed his shoulder during Thursday's game against the Phillies, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. "There's some concern there," the skipper said.
This helps explain why the shortstop was removed from Thursday's game in the fourth inning. Crawford apparently suffered the injury while diving for a grounder. He'll be evaluated in the coming days, but it sounds like the injury could be more than a day-to-day issue.
